The Best Hotels in the United Kingdom: 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards

"Homewood Park describes itself as ‘eclectic, luxurious, and slightly eccentric,’ and that’s not a bad call. This quintessentially English Georgian country house near Bath is known for its home-away-from-home exquisite rooms, over 10 acres of award-winning gardens, and its spa and outdoor pool, heated to perfection. The latter is gorgeous, perfect for swimming lengths, and through glass doors at one end leads to an indoor hydrotherapy pool. The spa itself has saunas and steam rooms and plenty of high-end treatments on offer from ‘anti-aging rituals’ to a ‘bootcamp for tummies’. But let’s get to the 21 rooms—indulgent, huge double beds, some with hot tubs, all lavishly decorated in individual styles from ultra-modern to lux country with unique statement artworks, Smeg coffee machines and Dyson hairdryers. Add the Olio restaurant serving up fine British classics with a Mediterranean twist and Bob’s your uncle, as the English say. A winner!" - Ramsay Short

Homewood (Bath, UK) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Perhaps it’s the location a few minutes outside of Bath proper that allows the Homewood Hotel & Spa to take some liberties with the typically traditional local style. This handsome Georgian country house is packed with personality, from the topiary teddy bear to the colorful and eclectic rooms and suites. The expansive indoor-outdoor spa is enough to ensure you won’t miss Bath’s baths, and the restaurant, Olio, serves a hybrid British-Mediterranean cuisine crafted from local products." - Tablet Hotels

We had the most relaxing and enjoyable weekend in Homewood celebrating my husband's birthday. The location is wonderful, stunning views, we went for a beautiful long walk on Saturday. The hotel itself is very comfy, log fires in the lounge and the bar makes it super cosy. The staff is very polite, friendly and always ready to help. Loved the spa, the coffee machine by the reception and the pick and mix sweets (what a treat for our son). We can also strongly recommend the Olio restaurant. The food is of excellent quality, full of flavour, good variety and attention to detail.

Genuinely excellent. This place is full of character, and the staff help make it. The rooms are all well fitted out. Even a smeg batista coffee machine ! The grounds are lovely and have a sense of adventure. The spa was lovely. Who'd a thought an outdoor pool in November could be inviting. And both my wife and I had excellent treatments. For the evening Anette looked after us as a group. Her wit and excellent service helped the elevate the weekend. But all the staff seemed to enjoy being there. And it made the difference. A bit of real service and not the usual corporate bollocks. Great hotel. Lovely spa. Decent service all made for a smashing weekend. Many thanks.

I couldn’t praise this hotel any more! We just had our second stay at Homewood, after first staying a few years ago when they opened, and it’s even better than before. The staff are lovely, friendly and attentive- from little things like leaving chocolates in our room, to offering me a pregnancy pillow and just generally being so helpful and welcoming. The rooms are so comfortable and every detail is thought through. Excellent breakfast with lots of options. Exceptional, clean spa facilities, (we were obsessed with the heated pool and outside jacuzzi)! Lots of choices of stunning walks nearby. It won’t be the last time we stay here I hope, I love it so much!

Homewood is one of our regular stays. We love the location, the spa and the food. The staff are always wonderful and the rooms comfortable. Prices have crept up (understandably) recently as has (less understandably) the number of dogs who were staying in December, just prior to Christmas. The hotel has significantly increased it's provision for dogs, even establishing a dog bathing area. At one point after dinner, we were unable to use the bar area due to the number of dogs jumping on the sofas. If you're not a doggy person, it might be worth checking before you arrive if this would be a concern.

A short but sweet night away as a birthday treat to myself, absolutely loved this place. The room was cosy and had all the amenities required (only very minor issue was bed was a little hard for my liking) however the service, in particular from Drew, Olivia, Maria & Anette was outstanding! They looked after me incredibly well and could not have done more for me. The spa & treatment I had were brilliant also, a great way to unwind and relax! Really enjoyed the outdoor heated pool in the November chill.

Sadly rather disappointed! A beautiful building with wonderful service staff in the restaurant however the bedrooms have no noise insulation. We could hear people going to town next door plus open conversations and coughing etc Early morning the house keeping staff noisily entered a cupboard next to our room repeatedly! The gardening team also started up a petrol strimmer at 0800 Lacking some luxury and attention to detail for the price bracket

We stayed in the summer; the room was well- decorated, if a little tired in places such as fraying curtains. Food & Drink were both excellent and the staff were attentive and very welcoming. The place itself is very idyllic, however, they do play music from about 8 am to 9 pm in all of the communal areas including the garden which is a shame as really, you want to be in the peace of nature. As our room was overlooking the courtyard area, we did ask them to turn the music down at 9 pm. Another thing to note if coming in the summer is that people come for the daytime to use the spa and pool so you’re not guaranteed a sunbed as a hotel guest.

We’ve stayed here 7 times. It’s local to us which means we can have a night away from the kids without wasting time travelling. Comfortable rooms, excellent food and relaxing spa. We had another lovely trip and being 21st December, it was decorated beautifully and so festive. Thankyou Homewood!
