The Best Hotels in the United Kingdom: 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards

"Homewood Park describes itself as ‘eclectic, luxurious, and slightly eccentric,’ and that’s not a bad call. This quintessentially English Georgian country house near Bath is known for its home-away-from-home exquisite rooms, over 10 acres of award-winning gardens, and its spa and outdoor pool, heated to perfection. The latter is gorgeous, perfect for swimming lengths, and through glass doors at one end leads to an indoor hydrotherapy pool. The spa itself has saunas and steam rooms and plenty of high-end treatments on offer from ‘anti-aging rituals’ to a ‘bootcamp for tummies’. But let’s get to the 21 rooms—indulgent, huge double beds, some with hot tubs, all lavishly decorated in individual styles from ultra-modern to lux country with unique statement artworks, Smeg coffee machines and Dyson hairdryers. Add the Olio restaurant serving up fine British classics with a Mediterranean twist and Bob’s your uncle, as the English say. A winner!" - Ramsay Short

Homewood (Bath, UK) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Perhaps it’s the location a few minutes outside of Bath proper that allows the Homewood Hotel & Spa to take some liberties with the typically traditional local style. This handsome Georgian country house is packed with personality, from the topiary teddy bear to the colorful and eclectic rooms and suites. The expansive indoor-outdoor spa is enough to ensure you won’t miss Bath’s baths, and the restaurant, Olio, serves a hybrid British-Mediterranean cuisine crafted from local products." - Tablet Hotels

We had high hopes for this hotel but unfortunately it did not live up to expectation. The service is good. The spa facilities are good. The rooms are not up to standard for the amount being charged. The first room we were allocated (Room 6) was unbearably hot and so it resulted in a sleepless night. We suspected this was because the room was above the kitchen, although a lot of people staying in the main house were complaining of the same. To the staff’s credit, they changed us to a different room with AC for our second night and our experience improved a lot. For the amount it is charging, the hotel should be providing AC, especially given that hot weather in summers is becoming the norm. Overall, for the amount we spent over the course of our two night’s stay, it didn’t feel good value for money. The food and drinks are overpriced and service is being added to absolutely everything (yes I appreciate it is discretionary). We have stayed at other similar hotels such as Dormy House, The Pig etc. and had a much nicer experience.

Stayed over night we were welcomed by everyone anyone we came across was friendly and nice there were some really lovely touches free sweets downstairs and beautiful areas outside to sit take photos novelty things & lovely gardens ! Our room was the old music room had violins on the ceiling chocolate welcome Brownies in room air-con room was really nice plenty of parking the spa pools are really nice but the normal swimming pool needs a revamp looked a little tired & we also noticed a child in the indoor spa area in morning before we were going i personally wouldn't have appreciated that as it seemed like a adult only spa area with spa pools and loungers the whole hotel had a very adult only vibe apart from play park situated away from it a little but be warned if you are thinking adults only then spa areas are small & they may have kids there sorry to say that but mine are grown & i like a child free zone in spas alot of money to pay if it's not peaceful

We had a lovely 3 night stay at Homewood. The room was spacious as we had booked one of the spa suites. The private hot tub and sauna was perfect. We could not fault the service, every member of staff was polite and helpful. The foot was fantastic, we ate in the Olio restaurant on the first night which was lovely and had room service another day. The breakfast was the highlight and was freshly cooked each day. The only slight downside was the air conditioning in the room wasn’t great. We will definitely return!

We absolutely loved this hotel! It was hot weather during our stay and the outdoor spa area was perfect. We lounged by the pools and made use of all the facilities. Our meal in the restaurant was lovely, outside on the terrace. Special thanks to Valentin for his fab service and chat! We also loved the individual touches in our room. Thanks also to Colin on reception- you gave us a great first impression! We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel!

We have had the most magical stay at Home Wood, we treated ourselves to a junior suite and were not disappointed…. The garden is amazing with so many different spaces to sit and enjoy. The pool and spa area was superb….the breakfast was exceptional and Kay looked after us so well, she looked after the whole breakfast service with a smile and friendly manner….the whole team were excellent with a friendly reception team to lovely managers that had time to have a little chat…. Needless to say we will be back

I don’t normally leave bad reviews, but our experience at Homewood was so disappointing that I feel people need to be warned.||Six of us stayed here expecting a high-end, comfortable getaway. What we got instead was a sweltering, sleepless nightmare. Our room had no air conditioning—during one of the hottest spells of the year. It felt like we were sleeping in a sauna. For a hotel that charges luxury prices, this is completely unacceptable.||The staff were friendly enough, but did absolutely nothing to help us. We raised our concerns and gave them a chance to rectify things, but nothing changed. In desperation, I ran a cold bath to try and cool down—only for it to result in flooding reception due to a clear plumbing issue. That alone should have been a red flag about the state of the facilities.||After checking out, we hoped to use the spa just to relax and cool off before our flight. Instead, we were told we couldn’t use it—even if we paid the £25 per hour “outside guest” fee—because it was 12:30pm and the next guests checking in at 3pm might want to use it. So we were thrown out, hot, tired, and completely disheartened. The end of our trip was completely ruined. We left early for the airport just to get out of the heat.||This place markets itself as a luxury hotel, but I’ve had better experiences at cheap budget hotels. If you can’t offer aircon, can’t manage basic plumbing, and treat your guests like an inconvenience, you shouldn’t be charging premium prices—or operating at all during the summer.||Don’t stay here. All six of us left disappointed and frustrated. Homewood needs to close its doors, install proper air conditioning, fix the plumbing, and rethink its priorities before taking anyone’s money again. Until then, do yourself a favour and stay elsewhere.

We spent a very relaxing 3 nights at Homewood for our honeymoon, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. We choose the hotel for its dog friendliness and it didn't disappoint. Would highly recommend the hot tub suite with direct access to the spa, particularly if you are bringing a dog.

We came with our son’s dog for a short break, all of us were made extremely welcome. Dog bowls, treats and bed were made available to us during our stay. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. Our room had a dual aspect and was bright and airy & beautifully furnished. The food and drinks were fabulous as were the staff who served them. Housekeeping was efficient and friendly. We would highly recommend this hotel and we will certainly be returning.
