Homshuk Mexican Kitchen & Bar

The food was awful. The Aguas frescas were really good, but the tortilla chips were cold and stale, the pulpo a la parilla was so disappointing. It was tough, slimy, and chewy and had very little flavor. I have had pulpo and enjoyed it prepared this way before, this was an issue of either severly overcooking it or having poor quality (likely frozen) seafood. The corn Tortillas that came with the plate were flimsy, cold, and easily broke apart. They also tasted store bought. The steak woth chimichurri was also not done according to taste, came out semi-warm, and had a bizarre texture as well. The choriqueso was simply fine, any hole in the wall Mexican restaurant would have better queso dip. Definitely not worth the expense, and safe to say we were extremely disappointed. The atmosphere was excellent, it is a clean beautiful restaurant with plenty of parking, but the food itself was edible (at best). Service was mediocre as we came at kind of a weird time (2pm).

Bad experience with the food My family and I decided to have lunch here because we kept seeing it on social media, but it turned out to be a big disappointment. While the service was excellent and the place itself nice, the food was really bad. There were four of us and we all left our plates almost untouched: the steak was undercooked, the guacamole had a very unpleasant taste, and the chicken was poorly prepared. To top it off, it felt way too expensive for what we got. Definitely would not come back.

Tacos are good. The staff seems very friendly! Carnitas are a little dry. Fish tacos were just alright. California burrito with hot chicken was very average. Chips were cold and stale. Salsa was alright, not impressing, however the guacamole was pretty solid and has a kick of spice. Queso was also pretty good, just disappointed the chips were stale and cold.

Hidden Gem, maybe! But it really should get the love it deserves, service outstanding! I thought Hannah had stellar service. The food was out in 10 min after ordering with quality plating and the food was delicious! There really isn’t much else to say if you want authentic Mexican food with a good atmosphere this is the place to be. Oh…. Don’t let me forget Bodega 42 the connected panaderia. Yeah it’s amazing as well! If you don’t want the deserts on the menu swing on over to Wanda in the bakery! She will help you decide on all the delicious treats they have to offer. She helped us plan our wedding deserts and we couldn’t be more excited!

This restaurant is my favorite in the community. The hospitality, great food and drinks keep me coming back often! My favorite dish is the shrimp fajitas and I love the pineapple margaritas too. I have worked with Harrison on several catering orders and everything has always been fresh, delicious and on time. Lastly I love the vibe of the patio in the summer months. We ate outside on the patio and the area was shaded so it wasn’t too hot or sunny. Service was very quick and friendly! The two salsas we tried tasted fresh, with a little kick but not overly hot. The enchiladas rojas weren’t at all spicy and I might have enjoyed a little kick, but regardless I ate nearly all my meal. The burritos are huge and filled with rice and beans and whichever meat you choose.

Food looked delicious but I would say it's just decent. Not bad, but nothing amazing. Our waitress and other staff were fantastic. I'd say the music was too quiet but once there are a lot of people there the building is super noisy even without music you can hear. We loved our drinks and will definitely go back to try dessert sometime too.

This spot truly captures the essence of great Mexican dining. The atmosphere is top-notch, especially if you snag a seat at the bar—it's the place to be. Parking is easy and convenient, and the location is next to one of my favorite Mexican grocery stores, which serves fresh food as well. It’s a bonus being able to pop in for groceries after enjoying such a great meal. I love that the staff here is genuinely passionate, with roots from South America, which adds even more authenticity to the experience. There’s nothing else like this in Lakeville, so I happily make the drive to Apple Valley for this little slice of heaven! One of the best hidden Mexican gems around. Homshuk nails that balance between laid-back and elevated. The patio is super chill, and the cocktails are creative without trying too hard, tons of variety and some really fun flavor combos. Their late-night happy hour is a great deal, especially with food this good. We rolled in with a big group and ordered half the menu. The shrimp tacos were a standout, massive, perfectly-cooked shrimp with bold, punchy flavor. But the real showstopper was the flank steak chimichurri. Every single person at the table said they'd come back just for that. It was tender, juicy, perfectly seasoned, everything you want from a classic done right. Carne asada fries were super fun and flavorful, and the cod + pineapple fish tacos were fresh, bright, and balanced. Add in a killer tequila lineup and some seriously authentic flavors, and you've got one of the best modern Mexican spots in the area.

My boyfriend and I decided to give this place a try one night after work. This restaurant is connected to Bodega 42, which is a Hispanic grocery store! They have so many different, foods, drinks, pastries, deli items, it's definitely worth exploring before or after dinner! There is free parking but the lot is not very big. You may need to park in the street (also free). Upon walking in, we were greeted by several employees! We opted to sit out on the patio, since it was a gorgeous night! After 10 minutes no one had come to the table... 15 minutes... still no one. No water, drinks or their complimentary chips. They weren't overly busy, so this didn't make sense to us. At minute 20 I got up to talk to a manger. The waitress saw me go up to the front and tried to wave me down to say "I got you." I'm sorry but 20 minutes in a restaurant that isn't packed is ridiculous. At the very least she could have brought water and said she would be with us soon, but she never acknowledged we were there. I spoke with the manager and noted that it had been 20 minutes with no one coming to our table. I told him i understood she had other tables but that we just hadn't even been acknowledged. He said "she doesn't have that many tables! Let's go!" He took our order on the spot! He brought us complimentary guacamole and horchata with our chips! That was a very nice gesture! I assured him we weren't out for freebies, we just wanted to order our food. He was very friendly and definitely took care of us! Our food came out very quickly and we were checked on multiple times. He definitely turned what was a very negative experience around! The vibes here are really great! The patio was so nice! It was well maintained and clean! The food: I got the pulpo (octopus) tacos! They had a tropical and buttery flavor to them! I opted to take the picked onion off mine but I'm sure that's tasty as well! The chips had a nice crisp and saltiness to them and the salad was one of the best complimentary ones we have tried! My boyfriend had the chicken fajitas and noted they were tasty with a solid portion. The horchata here is also pretty solid! Overall, this place is worth the try! Tip: don't get the dessert at the restaurant, grab it to go from the bodega! It's about $4-$5 cheaper!

The decor is so pretty. They have a great patio as well. We were seated quickly on the patio and our waitress checked in right away. We ordered the Queso - GET IT! It was delicious. You have an option of chips or tortillas. We asked for a sampling of the salsas. The green is mild, red is medium and they have avocado salsa which has some heat - it's not guac. We enjoyed them all. They have a great variety of choices on their menu. I went basic and ordered a chicken burrito - it's huge! You do have a variety of chicken to choose from. My Son ordered the Octopus and said it was really good and enjoyed the smoky flavor. It comes with green beans and they were good. Hubby ordered the flank steak, ordered it medium, it did come out medium rare, he didn't complain but he left a lot on the plate because of how rare it is. We usually speak up but he was full regardless. The service was great. The drinks were fun. I will definitely be back

Only ordered to go from here once and it was good. More pricey for Mexican food. Location is great. Kids eat free Sunday so maybe we will be back for that. Foot tasted good, a little soggy but we brought it home even though we only live like 5 minutes away.

This has been on our "south metro" restaurant list and let me say, we were not disappointed! It's such a bright colorful upbeat vibe. Bartenders were awesome. Drinks were delicious. Food portions were large and flavorful. We want to come back next time for happy hour :)

I came here recently for appetizers and drinks and had a pleasant experience. I enjoyed the ambiance and felt the service was adequate.

This place is one of my husbands go to places for a local dinner. They are always friendly and service is prompt and nice. The restaurant is always clean and the food is always fresh. My husband normally gets the chicken fajitas and he likes that they are not overly greasy. I like the carne asada nachos. Also, they have great happy hour with good options and low prices.

This place is SOOOOOO good. Every thing tastes so fresh, and flavorful. On top of that the workers are so nice. I went there with my father who has dementia and our waiter was so patient and kind with him.

My husband and I went on a date night dinner here for the first time and we weren't disappointed. We've shopped at the Bodega a handful of times since it opened but never made it to eat at the restaurant til now and we definitely have plans to go back again. We got two of their spicier salsas and they were super fresh and had a really good kick, great with each of our dishes. Their chips were a little bit too hard for my liking, they weren't bad just felt almost like if you weren't careful you would stab or cut your mouth with the edges, not sure if maybe they were fried a little too long but not a deal breaker. There's only other thing was my husband got chicken mole and I got skirt steak and I didn't get a steak knife but he did lol. Otherwise, service was great, and we will be back!

Went to dinner with my wife the other night. The service was excellent and very attentive. Our server would pop over every so often and make sure our drinks were good and once the food came it was to our liking. My wife got a California Burrito which she was not a big fan of. She said the French Fries inside were under cooked and the whole thing was not very flavorful. Even though it was supposed to I've an aioli and some seasoned chicken she said it was kind of bland. I ordered the fire roasted half chicken which came with pork and beans and a cactus salad. The salad was very good and had a good pickled flavor. The beans were basically pinto beans with not so flavorful pork skin. The chicken however was very juicy and flavorful. It has a great texture and smoked flavor. It wasn't too loud and the whole indoor dining area was clean and a little loud but not too bad. They were seating people outside also.

Ok suburbs!!! The patio here is TEN out of ten. Truly couldn't ask for anything better (other than like a Mountain View lol). I tried their sopes, queso, and marg. Margs were light and flavorful, the queso was AMAZING, and the sopes hit the spot. This place is perf for a warm summer evening.

My wife and I enjoyed a "wet" burrito and a chicken enchilada. Nothing extraordinary, but simply delicious. Our waitress was a young lady who knew the menu and was attentive and courteous. I was impressed with her skill level given she looked like a teenager. We sat outside which was not massive and is next to a busy side street, but still comfortable.

Pretty damn amazing place. Best Chimichanga I've ever had and amazing Enchiladas. The Carne Asada fries are muy bien as well. We have been here 3 times in the last month and love it. The Bodega attached to it is awesome as well. We will be back many more times. Why not 5 stars? The service is sooooo slow. Each time we've been here it seems as though they are understaffed. Plan to be here for at least 60-90 minutes. Not somewhere to go if you're in a hurry. Also.... No free chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant???!!

This was our first time at Homshuk, and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. The clean, modern design creates a welcoming vibe, and we can see it being a great spot for patio season when the weather/season is right. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable, offering helpful recommendations that made our meal even better. Both of our dishes were delicious, and we're already looking forward to coming back in the summer.

Disappointing that you can ONLY order chicken enchiladas- nothing else not pork not shredded beef. And btw Calling for takeout is a nightmare- they can BARELY hear you or you them and YOU'RE in the quiet area of your home. Here's hoping our takeout comes right EVEN THOUGH IWOULD rather have a choice of meats for my enchiladas!!! Not the best enchiladas I ever had, unless they OFFER other meats- I wouldn't bother ‍

This restaurant is connected to the bodega grocery store. There's an entrance from the bakery isle, a sliding door to the bathroom and another door to the restaurant. Nice and spacious. Huge bar for seating as well. We sat by the entrance and ordered so much food. So we asked to switch to the booth table instead. I ordered 3 different tacos, pastor, Mexican chicken, and chicken ranchero. My favorite was the Mexican chicken. They currently have a deal for $5 mango margarita but I ordered a regular one instead.

Our first visit here was a good one. On a cold, snowy night we decided we needed someone else to make us dinner and clean up dishes. The vibe here is open, airy, and full of energy. While our night wasn't a time to eat outside, I look forward to visiting again when we can enjoy dinner on the covered patio. I started with a house margarita which was huge and delicious. The server (who was great, btw) mentioned the staff favorite of Tampiquena so I had to try this steak option. The steak is cooked to your desired doneness and I chose medium. It was tender to cut and tasty. While you get tortillas with the meal, I chose to eat the steak, beans, and rice without the extra starch and it was very good. Don't forget to ask for chips and salsa. They are complimentary but only served upon request. Nice stop. Can't wait to come back and try some more menu items.

Absolutely loved the look and the restaurant was very clean. Due to the high, open ceilings, it was a bit loud but energetic. My daughter and I had the birria tacos, which were very good. My husband had the fish tacos and they were delicious. We also shared the chips and guacamole which were tasty. Hannah was an attentive server and ensured we had what we needed.

We got takeout from here a couple months ago and it was good - I didn't think it was the best Mexican food I have ever had but also not the worst either. It tasted more on the bland side. The portion sizes were huge but I also feel like it was pricey compared with other Mexican restaurants in the area. I got the wet burrito which seemed to be highly recommended here. I asked for black beans in my order but they didn't add black beans. The burrito was a big soggier than I was expecting. I didn't end up liking the texture much. But it tasted fine overall. The queso was bland and it didn't taste like queso I've had at other comparable Mexican restaurants. I felt like I was eating melted Kraft cheese slices. Takeout was fast and they had our order ready at the time stated, so that is a plus! I can't speak to the ambiance of the restaurant since we did not eat inside. Overall not sure if I will come here again but it's definitely worth a try especially if you're a fan of Mexican food and you're in the area.

Yum!! Came here for dinner and was an absolute amazing experience! We enjoyed the food - truly authentic Mexican food. I got fajitas, mixture of chicken and steak, and flavors were so good!! It was a lot of food, large portions, and I felt completely satisfied after I finished my dinner. First time experiencing this new authentic Mexican restaurant in Apple Valley and will definitely be back again!

Yummy tortilla soup and street tacos are what I've had so far and both were excellent. Wait staff super attentive!

Absolutely LOVED this place! This was recommended to us and I was a bit skeptical because a lot of times when things look too good to be true, they are. Homshuk is legit. Happy hour menu after 730pm got me a $5 watermelon margarita and $5 got me 1 beef and 1 chicken empanada. They were AMAZING! Fluffy, filled, and that aoili was outstanding! My dinner was the birria tacos. I could have bathed in the consumme. The meat was so flavorful, and the shells had just a touch of crunch. The rice and beans were okay, easily not the star of the show. My husband got the California burrito and said it was good, but he wished he had ordered 10 more empanadas instead. Rubi B was our server, and she was amazing as well. She was very passionate about the food and so great with her recommendations! I told her it felt like someone's Abuela was making the food for each table. Go here, eat til your are so full and leave happy. Or..go to the bathroom, cuz those are really clean!

The food here is unbeatable! The happy hour prices and "mini" plates are such a great option!

An airy open bar and restaurant very clean with outdoor dining. Food menu includes all the authentic dishes as well as breakfast. I had Fajita Omelete and done very well, delicately layered and folded filled with steak, peppers and onions. Topped with sour crème and guacamole and steak was additional as well as cottage potatoes similar to steak fries, Ample parking and set in a quiet neighborhood. It's friendly but not cozy. Server pleasant and great. $40 plus for two breakfasts and a nice experience. Seating for larger parties and booths. Many unisex restrooms very clean. Dirty silverware.

We love Andale Taqueria in Richfield and were excited to try Homshuk by the same owners. We started with the Queso Fundito as an appetizer. The portion size is very small. It had great flavor but for $12 the portion size should have been larger. The Quesadilla was very good. The Sopes were very bad. I couldn't even cut through the bottom of the Sopes, so I scraped off the top. They were rock hard. Very disappointed. They also added a 3% service fee to the bill. It's too bad but the poor quality of the Sopes will probably keep us from coming back.

The atmosphere and service here are what really stood out to me. Super clean and modern feel. Our server was extremely friendly and was very attentive, asking us a few times how our food is and if we needed anything else. Most of the stars are due to him. The food is a bit overpriced for what you get IMO. For appetizers, we got Esquites which are similar to elotes and although they came out with 3 different flavors, it's essentially canned corn in 3 small dishes topped with some cojita cheese and mayo, not worth $11. However, we got the birria tacos and I did enjoy that one, I just wished the consome was thicker. We also got the flank steak that came with a side of Mexican rice, cactus salad and tortillas. I wish the best for this restaurant but unfortunately I won't be coming back often.

Great food and very authentic! You won't be disappointed. It's in a location that seems inconsistent with authentic Mexican food.

"Homshuk" is a mexican restaurant with an adjoining mexican market/deli/bakery in Apple Valley. The building is impressive. Very trendy and elegant looking. The birria tacos 10/10! So good!! The fajitas had that romantic sizzle but I felt the meat lacked seasoning from what I'm used to but the quality of the steak and shrimp were excellent! The chips were thicker cut but very good. I'm so used to the red salsa that I thought I wouldn't like the green salsa but I loved the tangy green salsa! It's not spicy for those that don't tolerate heat. The queso was hot and cheesy, it was literally boiling when it arrived. I loved that! It's served in a tiny cast iron skillet. I highly suggest the birria tacos. The seasoning of the meat and au jus dipping sauce was outstanding!

We had a great time sitting at the bar for Happy Hour, they staff was wonderful, the food was fresh and delicious and our bartender Laura was a joy to be around!!! We will be back for sure!

Great atmosphere (I sat on the patio because it was a little loud inside--I am sensitive to noise-- and the patio was nice). Our waitress was adorable and so attentive. And the food was very delicious. Everyone at our table finished their plate (which is a rarity in modern dining with the crazy portion sizes). I will be back and plan to work my way through the menu!!

Wait staff and food were amazing! My sister and I were out and about running errands and decided we wanted Mexican food and most of the other ones in Apple Valley don't stick out so we decided to try Homshuk! We had the most fabulous experience and meal! We were able to sit outside and the street the restaurant sits on isn't too busy so it was so relaxing! They have a parking lot right out front so that was easy and convenient as well! I got the barbacoa tacos with rice and my sister got the California burrito. We will definitely be going back!

Met friends here for lunch. The staff was friendly and the service was excellent. We ordered the Pozole, Enchilada's with mole sauce and traditional Carne Asada tacos. We thoroughly enjoyed each of the entrees, as well as the Salsa Roja. The pozole had a wonderful, rich, flavorful broth. The mole on the enchiladas was slightly sweet, a great compliment to the chicken. The Carne Asada in the tacos was seasoned perfectly and had wonderful flavor. We definitely plan on going back.

Homshuk is a special place offering authentic Mexican food. Homshuk uses the freshest ingredients. I have never tasted more flavorful sauces and salsa. The restaurant is beautiful and comfortable with a large outdoor patio. Service is professional but relaxed. It is a good idea to ask questions about the menu to find the perfect entree. The Tequila lists over 70 different Tequila's and 15 Mezcals!! Pro Tip the Loaded Fries are out of this World!!! I highly recommend Homshuk!!!

The roasted and rotisserie meats are fantastic elevating this neighborhood Mexican joint from 3 to 4 stars.

All of the food here was amazing. The reason I gave 4 stars was because of the high price for some items. The agua chile was $18 for 5 jumbo shrimp and maybe 10 chips. There were also an insane amount of flies and bees on the outdoor patio area, so we moved inside. The carne aside fries were amazing and worth the money. The burrito was also a decent size for the money. Service was good for it being the first week it was open! Servers are friendly and I'm excited to come back and try other items. (Hopefully they bring Cecina to the menu!!!)

Came here to celebrate my son's birthday. This place is a one and done for me. We ordered traditional carne asada and Al pastor tacos. 3 tacos with a side of rice and beans on a fancy plate with garnishes. Asked the server for the spiciest salas they had and was told to go to the bodega next door for better options but he would bring out what they had. It must have been towards the end of our servers shift cuz he kept repeatedly asking if we needed boxes and tried to clear our table even though we were still eating. My son ordered a burrito from the kids menu and they did not list all the ingredients on the menu. When it arrived and it was stuffed with lettuce and sour cream and the listed ingredients of chicken, rice and beans. Not a big deal for us but I know there are kids that are picky eaters and would be highly disappointed to see this as well. Overall you're paying for the ambiance because the food is lacking. I could have gotten better tasting food from a taco truck for half the cost. Authentic is not how I would describe this place.

I went to this new place yesterday for lunch. Service: The service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and the manager also went around to check on everyone to ensure everything was good. Drink: I tried the strawberry mojito and it was light and refreshing not overly sweet. It also was presented very nicely with the added flower. Food: Birria Tacos were very good, lots of flavor. My husband and I enjoyed this the most. My husband got the chimichanga which was also good (very large portion). Normally based off the menu it looks like you have to purchase chips and salsa but our waiter gave it to us complimentary which was very nice. If I had one suggestion for the restaurant it would be to offer these to all tables instead of charging for them. We look forward to our next visit and trying something new.

Restaurant is connected to Bodega 42 fresh market so you can enter from that store and go to the host stand at the other side of the restaurant or meter from the restaurant's main entrance. No issues with parking as it shares a parking lot with Bodega. The restaurant itself is beautiful with lots windows to let natural light in and tall ceiling. The waitress was very attentive and friendly making sure I had everything that I needed. The cocktail was delicious with the perfect amount of smokiness and they did not skimp on the mezcal. I was there for lunch and that means you can order off the lunch or breakfast menu. I order the lunch size nachos with tinga chicken. The chips themselves were delicious but the amount of chicken was very small and the portion itself was not very impressive. With plenty of room left I ordered the tres leches cake. That portion was huge. This was not as moist as I was expecting and not very sweet itself but the caramel and chocolate drizzle did help. I did not get any complimentary chips and salsa so I'm not sure if that is still happening.

Delicious. Our group tried their happy hours drinks and appetizers. Watermelon margaritas and traditional margaritas. The chicharrones and guacamole were outstanding. A definite repeatable order. The restaurant atmosphere is chill with a great vibe. Our server Hannah was very attentive. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and provided great recommendations.

We've been really excited for this place to open, been watching it get built for a year! Drinks- great selection of margarita and beers. They couldn't as easily make a plain "skinny" margarita, but honestly the offerings are so robust it was easy to find something else to drink. Appetizers- we had chips and guacamole, salsa, and queso fundido. Queso was great, salsa was great, guacamole was kinda meh- didn't have a ton of flavor. Main- great taco options and the main meat plates were a good variety. Both of us had beef, and food was pretty good. I'd definitely come back and try more things. Over all- good for a casual dinner, good for families, and the drinks were really good. There's also a grocery store attached with an awesome selection of Mexican and Latino items so make sure to check that out.

I'm from California and it's been had to find a legit Hispanic restaurant and this has been the closest to it on my side of town. Great vibes, drinks, food, and the best happy hour a restaurant can offer. The service is phenomenal! I would definitely recommend coming at any time of day to have a good meal and some drinks.

Food: 8/10 The dishes here are fresh and well spiced. No blandness in sight! We tried the Wet Burrito and the California Burrito. Both were very tasty! The three house salsas offered something for everyone, but the Salsa De Agucatewhowas our favorite. Fresh citrus notes followed by a sneaky heat at the end. The California burrito was a touch bean-heavy for my liking but still delicious! Atmosphere 8/10 Aesthetically pleasing--blue and burnt orange hues throughout. They've nailed the decor. It's a fun and engaging environment. Service 7/10 We visited during lunch. Staff was friendly, though a bit busy. Not lightning-fast, but not slow either.

Our meal was pretty tasty, and the service was equally friendly. The place itself was clean, and pretty lively the day we went in. Nice booths, lots to choose from on the menu - it's a little on the spendier side for what you get but not a bad option if you're in the area.

Huge plates. I think I've never see bigger. And we needed them too. Carnitas, rice, beans, salad, and of course, tortillas. All excellent. The salsa-sauce for the chips was great. I loved the mild but tasty green. My two companions liked the hot red. They also had a couple of appetizers I had never seen before that were great. Service could not have been better. Maybe we just lucked out in that category. Next time I'm trying the soup that looks like it's got about eight ingredients in it.

We love Mexican food and decided to give the newest restaurant a try for supper. As many others have mentioned, there are no complimentary chips and salsa. Huge bummer for us. I ordered the quesadilla, and while the flavor was good, it did not have what I consider Mexican flavor. I also didn't realize I was getting half a plate of beans and rice - I don't eat those. So my half a quesadilla did not fill me up. Huge bummer. Husband tried my beans and wasn't impressed - he loves beans and rice. The other interesting thing we noticed was that it appeared the kitchen and wait staff probably did not grow up eating authentic Mexican food. Taco salad shells were pre-made and sitting on a shelf in the kitchen. Slightly overpriced for what we got. We will not be a return guest. We'll stick with Mi Pueblo. Love their food, much better flavors, more reasonably priced, and lots of chips and salsa.
