4 Best Day Trips from Austin

"It’s like you’re walking back in time when you enter the adorable brown brick home with a chalkboard sign that houses Emma + Ollie. Dishes and baked goods from the chef and pastry queen, Rebecca Rather, are like grandma made—including lemon bars and key lime tarts, scones and kolaches, pop tarts, and cakes like lemon-blackberry. The ooey-gooey French toast bread pudding with bourbon glaze and all-day beignets showered with powdered sugar are must-tries, as are the biscuits and pimento cheese BLT." - Mandy Ellis

We love eating outdoors! Hondo's On Main has a lovely outdoor area perfect for dining al fresco. Their appetizers were quick and tasty, especially if you like cheese! The pimento and brisket balls were yummy. Everyone enjoyed their food. The Slob Cobb Salad with the vinaigrette dressing was exactly what I wanted to eat to help me cool down after a hike up The Enchanted Rock. The band was great! I didn't catch their name, but I'll try to post a video. The restrooms were clean and well stocked. When it began to rain, we were able to quickly find a table indoors. The staff were friendly and available for food delivery, clean up, and taking trays. Their method of paying at a window and using a buzzer/beeper when the food was ready seems to make ordering and receiving food very efficient. Drinks were self serve, which is nice because... no waiting!! I will definitely return. Thanks for a great experience!

I came here for dinner and really enjoyed the atmosphere. There was live music at the time and people were enjoying a meal and dancing to the music. I went for the brisket platter, which unfortunately want that great. The brisket itself was quite tough and not comparable with real Texas BBQ places in the area. The coleslaw was also a bit bland. Some of the other dishes I saw looked fantastic, so perhaps I just chose the wrong dish.

Google
We met a friend here for drinks the other day, it’s a great spot and seems to be a favorite haunt. We got spicy margaritas and nachos, all were delicious. The margaritas were good sized, strong and reasonably priced! There was no live music when we were there but it was very busy (Saturday late afternoon). This is a self service establishment, you place and pick up drink orders at the bar (one indoors, one outdoors) and food orders are picked up at the kitchen counter when the buzzer alerts. We didn’t wait long for our food and everyone was kind and helpful.

While planning on a trip to Fredericksburg we decided to eat here before we went back home. The atmosphere was very nice with indoor and outdoor seating. They had love music playing which I typically love when restaurants do this. I ordered the chicken sandwich which looked amazing but upon taking a bite I believe the batter they used could have used a little more seasoning in my opinion but it was still very good. The fries were very good and seasoned well. The kid's hotdog was very good as well. All in all, I will definitely come back here and update my review with the food I decide to eat. If you're ever in the area come check it out.

Google
Food was great, fresh and large portions. The Blue ribbon BBQ burger was a “Texas size”to say the least. Sweet patato fries were fried perfectly. Nacho construction kit was fresh and flavorful. A lot of outdoor space for eating. Margaritas are strong and have great flavors!

Google
This was a solid spot on our trip to Fredericksburg. There was plenty of seating, live music, and a large variety of food and drinks. It wasn't exactly the vibe we were looking for on the trip but was good nonetheless. We got the curly fries with chili on top and a popsicle margarita, they were both delicious and large. You order food and drinks at the bar as there are no waiters, it was actually quite nice since we could order much quicker as well as pay and leave. I likely won't be going back just so I can try other places in town, but it was fantastic since we were starving at the time.

Google
Want a delicious burger and sit on an awesome patio listening to music? Hondo's is the place. There is a full bar, but today we didn't drink. Staff is friendly. Vibe is chill. Food is amazing. Add this to places you must visit in Fredericksburg

Google
Overall, good experience! We started with the queso and it was great! I ordered the Hondo cheddar burger, and my girlfriend ordered the grilled chicken quesadillas, curly fries, and onion rings. As for my order, the burger was decent. As for my girlfriend, we both enjoyed her food. The quesadillas were super cheesy, and the sides were delicious. My only complaint is that there were so many flies, so many, that I felt a 3 star rating sufficed.

Yelp
Hondo's is super casual, so come as you are. You can tell everyone (including the locals) enjoy this place. Parking was pretty easy on the side street nearest. There's a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. My friends and I went in mid-May, and it was already getting pretty warm. So, we were seated at a table inside. I found it to be pretty warm inside. The doors are kept wide open and I think that might've been the only air circulating. The space gives a nice Texas, country feel with lots of pictures on the wall. There was live music to enjoy, as well. Although you're seated, it's pretty casual in that you go to the bar to order your food and drinks. They'll give you a buzzer and you get your food from a pick up window inside. We really enjoyed our food and drinks. I can't remember the drink I had but it was strong and pineapple. I remember the pineapples being soaked in the alcohol as the selling point for me. We ordered a burger to split, curly fries covered in pulled pork and goodness, and queso with steak. Loved all of these but the queso was really more than I expected and it got cold fast. So eat it fast. All the portions were actually huge. I really liked Hondo's and would go back (earlier or later in the year).

Yelp
This place was so cute, the live music and dance floor was so much fun to watch! The staff and service were super speedy and polite! I ordered the nachos and my cheese came out already hardened and not appetizing. I ended up ordering queso as a supplement and come to find out it's the same cheese just melted but for some reason was 100% better. I got my go to drink, deep Eddys lemon and sprite and it was perfect! Highly recommend the queso and NOT the nachos!

Yelp
I haven't been to Hondo's in years but remember it being good so we decided to get it Door Dashed since we had just unpacked the camper. We got the bacon and cheddar burger, so good! It came with all the toppings (mayo, tomato, purple onion, pickles), and the bread.... The bread! It's got a little sweetness to it... yummy! The curly fries were really good too, I was afraid they would be soggy being to-go, but they weren't. We also got the queso dip, it was very good! If we have time this week we may stop in to grab more good food and enjoy the ambiance. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Super casual place with live music on the patio. I love that it feels like a local spot although it's frequented by lots tourists. I tried the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes and it was perfect. So delicious. I can't recommend the patio during the summer but if you find yourself there on a breezy cool evening it's definitely worth it.
google avatar

Sadiya A.

Yelp
Grabbed a quick bite before heading to one of our tastings for the evening. We were seated quickly; this is a self serve restaurant where you order from either two ordering spots and pick up your food when it's ready. I ordered the green chili chicken enchiladas which listed spicy chicken but there was no spice to it. The chicken quesadilla was average and the walking taco was simple and light, if you order the walking taco, would recommend ordering something additional if you are hungry.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. All had something different. Burgers are huge. Mine was a little overcooked but still good.

Yelp
My friend recommended this place and I am so glad she did!! We went on a Thursday around 5...we were seated outside immediately. About 5 min later there was a long wait! So we just beat the rush!! I ordered the grilled mahi mahi sandwich and added pickles. It was superb. The fish was perfectly cooked, had great flavor and big dense flakes. Yum! The sauce that came with it was a cilantro-lime-jalapeño vinaigrette, with great flavor! My friend had the Reuben which she thought was delicious but needed more of a sauce. Their Reuben doesn't have thousand island dressing like you'd find traditionally, instead it is just a thin layer of brown mustard. She went and asked for more mustard and a side of pickles and was happy with it after that! The star of the show was the double cheese potato fries!! Those were WITHOUT A DOUBT IN MY MIND the best curly fries I've ever had. Even with all of the cheese they retained their crispiness. I'll be dreaming of these until I can go back and get them again! The cashier recommended a half order of the machsticks which was only $4 and more than enough for 2 people to share! As Texans we needed to add a little spice to our meal, and this did the trick! Perfectly spicy, great flavor! Just a little greasy (but worth it) Love the local Altstadt brews too! The Kolsh is really top tier.

Yelp
Excellent food. Excellent atmosphere. They had live music going and we were able to enjoy talking as well as listening to the music. Everyone enjoyed their food. No complaints.

Yelp
Waited an hour and 15 minutes for a table. It's only our high school friends 10th anniversary and now they're engaged.... After waiting they offered two 4 seater tables.... After speaking to the host and manager apparently we were supposed to request that we seat all together? So that's my review.... Request you seat with everyone you're coming with lol We left and found food and drinks somewhere else

Tonya B.

Yelp
So we ordered take out tonight & wow!! It sucked! My hubby ordered the burger & the patty was some small little thing not even half the size of the bun. Our fries were overcooked & cold & I ordered the cheddar stacker & paid extra for green chilies they DID NOT put on the sandwich. Sorry to say we're highly disappointed & wondering if we should ever go back!!

Valerie F.

Yelp
The food was great and the girl that took our order at the bar was super sweet! The burger was huge and the sourdough bread was yummy! You can sit inside or outside.
google avatar

Tyra G.

Yelp
It's walk up after they seat you. Make your order at the bar and they give you a pager. The really old bar is a great focal point to the room. The food tasted great and was so appreciated.
google avatar

Michelle B.

Yelp
Cute relaxed spot. Enjoyed my poblano burger. Counter service that I'm sure backs up during busy times. The bus boy was super friendly. Clean bathrooms. Overall we would visit again for the live music too.

T S.

Yelp
Did not have a great evening at all! They messed up our order. When we went to the bar to have it corrected and after waiting for 3 couples to place the order we began explaining what was wrong. We were interrupted by another person who "forgot" to order something. The guy stopped helping us and moved to the guy who forgot to order something and then proceeded to have a drink made for him. We finally received a "corrected" order that was completely tasteless. Don't waste your time here, there are too many other great places to eat in Fredricksburg.

Yelp
We had a great experience for lunch today. We were traveling with our 2 dogs so we needed someplace where we could take them with us. They were busy but they seated us quickly. There was a young man that helped us and was so sweet to my dogs and even offered and brought us a bowl of water. The food was so good. I got the green chicken enchiladas hubs got the pulled pork sandwich. We will stop again next time we. One through there.
google avatar

Melissa I.

Yelp
Amazing food! Ordered the chips and queso and the deconstructed nachos with brisket. I loved everything! We were seated quickly, great system on self service and the food was made quickly and was hot when served. The portion sizes are quite big so even the small queso was large so prepare to share! I will definitely be revisiting when in Fredericksburg. We also had nice live music when we sat outside.
google avatar

Yelp
I had a terrible experience at Hondo's. After dining there this past Saturday, I ended up with severe food poisoning. The symptoms started just a few hours after my meal and ruined my entire evening. Not only did I get sick, but my two friends that came with me also ended up with food poisoning. We all ordered different things which is crazy. I had the chili, one friend had the brisket, and another ordered the pulled pork. The food tasted bland and almost as if it had been sitting in the fridge or freezer for a while. This place is a health hazard, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Now it's been several days and all of our stomachs are still upset which completely ruined our trip to Fredericksburg. Avoid at all costs!
google avatar

Norman K.

Yelp
For your information, this is a self-help restaurant! You'll have to order your food and pick it up at a window. The initial ambiance fits the area and looks like a good time. The outside areas have a longer wait time because of the live music aspect and open seating. The inside area is smaller and has access to their antique bar. The bartender and other staff taking orders are pleasant and helpful, but again, remember you'll be getting everything yourself. The food was sufficient and great for serving larger parties quickly and those who are unadventurous. If you're looking for a fast-casual hangout with decent drinks, this is just right for you!

Yelp
We recently visited Hondo's on Main, and while it had a lot going for it, the food left much to be desired. The ambiance was nice--super casual and laid-back, exactly what you'd want from a relaxed spot in town. They had a musician performing on the patio, and she was talented, adding to the overall enjoyable vibe. It's a family and pet-friendly place, which we appreciated. It's also self-service: you order your food at the bar, get a buzzer, and pick up your meal from the kitchen window. Sodas were self-service, and they offered a full bar, which was a plus. Unfortunately, the food didn't match the atmosphere. I ordered the chicken quesadilla, and while the tortilla had nice char marks, the cheese inside wasn't fully melted, and the chicken was cool--not the hot, fresh bite I was hoping for. Normally, I'd send something like that back, but since it's a self-service setup, it felt more hassle than it was worth. My wife had the Baked Goat Cheese Salad, which she said was just fine--nothing extraordinary, but at least it was a safer bet than the quesadilla. In short, go for the music, the relaxed atmosphere, or a drink at the bar--but not for the food.

Yelp
Great food!! Amazing food!! So good! We had the portobello mushroom quesadilla and Rueben sandwich! 10/10! I also had the popsicle margarita and omg! Amazing you had to be your own waiter but we didn't mind. A bit too loud outside hence why we decided to sit inside. Very causal nice place

Yelp
My husband and I met a group of friends for dinner at Hondo's based on their ability to accommodate a group and variety of food options on their menu. We ordered 2 of their 3 daily specials since we were not familiar with their foods. My husband had what amounted to Brisket on top of fries and I had Brisket Mac 'n cheese. The Brisket over fries were unappetizing to me since it appeared very greasy. My husband ate mostly meat leaving behind the fatty pieces but left the fries. They were over fried and greasy. I ate the Brisket Mac 'n Cheese. While it was tasty at the time of eating, it did not sit well with me later. Perhaps we chose poorly. We may give them another try in the future so am not sure if we recommend or not at the time of this review. Note: There were also no greens whatsoever unless you count the 1/2 tsp of chopped parsley as decoration.
google avatar

Josh R.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, beautiful, historic structure, and a generally fun environment. Food is lacking much flavor, a great choice for the non-adventurous. The brisket was roast beef without a touch of smoke, bark, or grill marks. Sandwhiches were as expected. Tip jars all over the place, which is not only obnoxious but very confusing being that it's a self serve facility. Can't say i reccomend but it's alright if you know what you're walking into.

Yelp
Love trying new places when we visit as we don't live far (w/exception of Arch Ray in Fredericksburg b/c it's that good) and there are enough places. Hondo's vibes, drinks, music are on point & fun if you are feeling casual, honky tonk, laid back but the food is just okay (burgers/fries/onion strings/sweet potato fries/apps). Some burgers were dry, some underdone, but since all had extras (bacon, cheese, chili, etc) the taste was okay, buns were yummy and all sides were kinda cold but decent. As other reviewers says, self serve and lines for everything. Would always go back for the hangout & drinks but not particularly just for the food! Oddly for me, did not take photos....
google avatar

Raquel M.

Yelp
Hondo's had such a sweet ambiance. It was a full house in there. My husband and I were driving back home to Texas from California so we had to make a yummy stop in Fredericksburg. We got seated outside where there was a young girl singing to the crowd and families dancing with their kids out in the open. Food: 3/10. Sorry, I really tried to like it. I couldn't. My grilled chicken sandwich was probably frozen before because half of it was still super duper cold. They had forgotten the grilled onions & guacamole originally. Nothing about the food was extraordinary. Pretty disappointed. Sorry, y'all!!
google avatar

Havyn P.

Yelp
Food was great!!! Can't go wrong with the Hondo burger or Chicken fried steak. Line was long but moved quickly! Definitely will be coming back soon!
google avatar

Leslie C.

Yelp
Where do I start...first of all, the two employees at the host stand were rude. We wanted to sit inside and they did everything they could to get us to sit outside! WE WANTED TO SIT INSIDE!! Table was ready but we needed a little more room. My 75 year old mom asked if we could get another table And she sad RUDELY told no. And that you could have sat outside with plenty of space! He better be glad I wasn't there when he talked to my mom like that!! RIDICULOUS NOW THE FOOD... the nachos were trash! Melted shredded cheese on top of chips. They should be ashamed of those nachos. Then we order 2 Slob Cobb salads and they didn't put all the toppings on the salad. My husband went up to ask where the toppings were and the guy said sorry and handed him little cups with the stuff in them. Again...RIDICULOUS I think others enjoyed their food but we will not be back!! Get some better service!!
google avatar

Krystal T.

Yelp
This is a nice spot if you enjoy live music and want the full Western feel of the Wild West. I found it quite charming. Although we inquired about the best items on the menu, we ended up not choosing any of them, which was a mistake on our part. I ordered the chicken fried steak with fries, while my friend opted for the BBQ sandwich. Both dishes could have used more seasoning; it was a bit disappointing. Nonetheless, I'm glad I experienced this spot and could cross it off my list!
google avatar

Joe T.

Yelp
Love Hondo's, the atmosphere and history, and wasn't as packed as usual which was nice. Had the brisket Macaroni and Cheese, which was enough for two and tasted great. Also had the Nacho Construction which fell short of the mark. The cheese was thick but cold and was poured over the top of the chips and chicken. You had to pull chunks of cheese off to get to below which was just chips, onions and chicken chunks. I like my nachos with cheese spread throughout, and a bit more fluud.
google avatar

Kari M.

Yelp
We literally come here every time we come to Fredericksburg. We choose to sit on the "back deck" (no reservations required ) because we preferred to have chairs since the reserve seating has some picnic benches and the music isn't blaring. May have to share a table but in the Texas style, you'll meet amazing people. Nonetheless, we've had a multitude of different items on the menu and we have always been really pleased (5 star kind of yum). Example are the double cheese fries with fresh jalapeños, and the fajitas-ladas (comes out like a chip dip style so get spoons). We frequently will split meals and then go back and get more. They are known for their margaritas. Although I've never had one. I've heard from several people we've met here that the jalapeño margarita is spot on with pleasant kick. The vibe is large outdoor area with fans and open to a good breeze. Inside seating as well. Live music every night. Staff is always pleasant and accommodating. If you need extra condiments, you just go inside to the service window ask for what you want and they give it to you- No charge no questions. Enjoy! .

Albert E.

Yelp
Food was very good but the service was not. My wife and I had lunch here while staying in town for a weekend. The food itself was tasty and well prepared. The reasons for the low rating is two things. First - there were two men clearing tables. They were very pushy and I felt they were pressuring us to leave. It was not busy. Second - one of these men came and asked if I was done. When I said no he then pointed at some string onion rings - and put his finger in it. I was literally speechless. Normally I am very outspoken but in this case I was taken back. I know stuff happens it's a mistake. But the guy didn't say a word and simply walked away. It was clearly a mistake but come on.
google avatar

Don J.

Yelp
American and Tex-Mex food in a historic building with an outdoor patio and live music on the weekends. Restaurant is self-serve - you place your order at the bar and pick it up at the kitchen when your buzzer goes off. Hondo's is a fine choice for drinks and music, but it's low on my list of good dinner spots. I got the Hondo's Burger with cheddar - it was a good-sized burger and an even bigger bun, but the "cheddar" was an unappetizing pile of unmelted shredded cheese. Their menu discloses that they mix egg into the beef as a binder, which didn't really bother me. What did bother me was the disgusting men's bathroom, which smelled like a barn - and that was early in the afternoon when you'd think it would be at its cleanest. The patio also has a major fly problem. That's probably more difficult for them to control, but if you order food on the patio be ready to eat with one hand while constantly shooing flies with the other. Despite these shortcomings, Hondo's is a tourist favorite and I wouldn't recommend showing up on a weekend night without a reservation.
google avatar

Courtney P.

Yelp
Hondo's is a staple in Fredericksburg. We went on a day that had perfect weather, and we sat outside. You order at the bar and pick up your order at a food counter when it's ready. It's a laid back casual place, and we loved it! We had the ribs, the fried catfish, and a bacon cheeseburger. All of it was fresh, hot, and tasty. The fish and ribs were not the best we've ever had, but still very good. They use freshly grated cheese for their cheese toppings and additions. It's a great touch and tastes great!! We will return every visit to this area!

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful decor. Great service, music venue, Outback great people watching wonderful old bar inside very cool. Allows dogs everyone friendly your pallet will be happy enough said don't miss it.
google avatar

Cynthia S.

Yelp
The food was ok. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and they forgot to include the bacon. The sweet potatoes fries were cold. I didn't say anything because I was hungry and not in the mood to wait another 20 minutes. They were out of ketchup. The gal taking the order doesn't give you eye contact and does not have good customer service skills. Their only saving grace is their live music. Will not be back.

Leana B.

Yelp
If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would! It's a self-serve setup, which I don't mind, but after ordering the brisket plate with mashed potatoes, our food was ready in under five minutes, raising my suspicions. When we picked it up, the mashed potatoes were ice cold and the brisket was mostly fat, smelling off as if it had been sitting out for days. It was slathered in BBQ sauce, presumably to hide the unpleasant odor and taste. It was so unappetizing that my husband tasted his and about threw up and I left my plate untouched and we walked out. This experience was nothing like the Texas BBQ I expected, and we will definitely not be returning. Although I rarely leave reviews, this one felt necessary.
google avatar

J F.

Yelp
It's a bar that sells food. We were really stuck for a place to grab lunch and leave. This was the first place that had seats and a reasonable menu. Food was mediocre. Had to listen to a busier loudly talk to a diner about every Star Wars movie, I mean repeating lines and scenes. Ate and got out ASAP.
google avatar

Alan H.

Yelp
Live music gastropub that is good place to grab a meal while listening to music and being outside. The service is kinda of a zoo where you can order at either bar for drinks or food with everyone having to go inside the bar to retrieve their own food. I ordered the bacon burger and it was a decent burger since it was a bit over cooked. And I got that with "curly fries" but it looked like half circles rather than actual curly fries!

Holly K.

Yelp
Food is great! Atmosphere is good. Spicy jalapeño margaritas are to die for. But the boozos at the front are rude! We sat outside their restaurant for 15 minutes not knowing we could welcome ourselves in and employees didn't bother to even care. 5/10
google avatar

Timothy H.

Yelp
I went with a group of 10 kids and 12 adults on a field trip to National Museum of the Pacific War. Tubby's was closed and that was my 1st choice, but a parent said they had recently visited Fredericksburg and Hondo's was similar. Long wait for food. Very expensive. $14 burger which was average. The $16 fried chicken sandwich looked great and I was told it was amazing. The queso and enchiladas were really good! All sides are extra. I got a burger and queso for $28 plus tip. Messy burger, great queso in a skillet. Skip the burgers as there are much better options.
google avatar

Shelli M.

Yelp
Heavy pour and jalapeño margaritas is all I can say. Even on a Sunday Evening when the place is not packed it was packed. The outdoor area was closed due to cold and misty weather. I'd love to come back in the warmer months and enjoy the patio!
google avatar

Hayley M.

Yelp
Been twice, we enjoy it. The margaritas are great, solid burgers and sandwiches. Patio is so cute. My dog gives the fries a 12/10.

Cindy S.

Yelp
We were here for lunch on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025 @ 12:30 pm. It's a very relaxed unique bar. All in memory of Hondo Crouch. It is a self-service restaurant/bar, but very easy to handle. Food was hot & a lot!!!! Very tasty as well.
google avatar

Angelique G.

Yelp
I can see why this place would do well if you're a little tipsy. Bar food for most people. But as two sober people walking in for some food, we were disappointed. Couldn't have a drink if we wanted anyway since the bartender didn't know how to make an old fashioned. My enchiladas looked like soup. Also the chips were Tostitos out of the bag. My food was hot in some spots and luke cold in others. We will not be returning.

Sara B.

Yelp
I never leave bad reviews and truly wanted to like this spot, seems like a nice patio/live music situation, but this was an ABSOLUTE bust. I got a hondo burger with cheddar and I spit the first and only bite I took into a napkin. It tasted like fish and was super pink. I wonder if it was in the freezer next to fish? I wanted to throw up after that. We also got the green chile enchiladas which was like a bowl of soup, also gross, and VERY chile flavored, like super over powering. Queso for the table - it was okay, but the fresh jalepenos were still clearly frozen. Also unappealing. Lastly, we got the kids cheese quesadilla which was not bad until I looked at my child's hand and it looked wet like she'd stuck it in water bc of the grease... it was that oily. So so gross. Save yourself the trip and go somewhere else.
google avatar

Patti G.

Yelp
We have visited Hondo's on many other occasions and always had a good experience. Tonight we tried to go about 8:20 and The young guys on the patio that were seating people outside were very disappointing. There were many empty tables. They didn't even greet us. Simply told us it would be a 30-40 minute wait and the kitchen closed in 30 mins. With many empty tables, we simply walked away.

Yelp
During my recent visit to Hondos, I was dismayed to observe a regular patron inappropriately imposing himself on female patrons, including brides-to-be. He would insist on a dance, then inappropriately put his leg against the girls (personal area). The bartender acknowledged the man was a regular. This culture is unacceptable and disrespectful towards women. He confronted me and placed his hand on my arm. I asked him to remove his hand as he did not have permission to touch me. He then moved onto the next table and continued his inappropriate behavior. I expect better from Hondos. Why would you ever allow someone to approach your customers inappropriately. While your food and service is amazing, I am disappointed your employees were aware of this behavior. It's NOT acceptable. Watch out for this guy. He looks so completely innocent, but in reality he is a creep and he has been getting away with this behavior forever. I also have video, but you get the point. :( sad.....

Yelp
We had eaten here before but sat inside this time. As I walked inside I could smell barbecue so I decided that was what I'd have to eat. The sandwich was the perfect size, full of chunks of tender brisket, bbq sauce, pickles and onions. The bun was just right to hold in all the yummy food, tender too. He had the cheddar bacon burger that he said was good with the lettuce tomato & onions. The basket of curly fries was more than enough for 2 people, it was hot and tasty. They show you to your seat upon arrival with a card that explains to order your food & drinks at the bar then the pager notifies you when it's ready so you walk over to pick up your tray & utensils. They will bus the table. Overall it seems to work very well. Great place with a variety of good food.

Yelp
First time here and heard it was pretty good place to try. So decided to pop in next time i was in town. Pretty popular establishment, dinner gets pretty busy on Sunday (music). Order at bar, pickup across from bar. Inside is not that large and there's a wait to sit inside. Guess this is due to those wanting to listen to music. There was dancing in between table, which i thought was odd but cool also. That would be me. lol Outside area is large, tables picnic style. If rain the picnic area is out but there is a small covered outside spot to eat. If lucky, you can sit near door and still hear music. Ordered the signature margarita, shaken not stirred, and is a hit apparently. As far as food, one ordered the chicken fried steak and the order was ready almost immediately. (Pre cooked and ready, maybe it's a hit on menu so they prepare?) none the less it was pretty good. Other meal was the Hondo burger with onion strings. Now this was great. Hand made patty, shredded cheese, red onion, spear pickle and lettuce. Very delicious and not the tiny burger you see now a days. . Enjoyed it all and will definitely come back and maybe catch the music if played outside.

Yelp
I kept hearing how wonderful Hondo's was so we decided to check it out. Massive disappointment! The bartenders', no servers, demeanor were like we are going you a favor. The food was cold & the sweet potato fries seemed like they were left over from the day before. I certainly won't be suggesting Hondo's to anyone.
