We recently spent a week at Solitude and made reservations at Honeycomb for NYE. We were excited for something different than the usual slopeside nachos and burgers, but ended up incredibly disappointed. Zero chance we'd ever go back.
The bartender deserves credit for inventive and delicious drinks- the Old Fashion, Negroni, and Mule were all fantastic. Unfortunately that's where the positives ended.
We ordered two kale salads that came without kale (they were "out of kale") and as a result were underwhelming. The signature trout dish was so salty that both of us sent it back-- it was inedible, and we couldn't get past the second bite. The server apologized and said "yeah we've gotten that complaint repeatedly over the past couple weeks." She was very willing to bring something else, but we were shocked that they'd been getting consistent negative feedback for weeks and kept serving the dish!
It didn't end there.
-The burger was also oversalted, inedible, and had to be returned. (We're a family who loves salty food and has never returned a dish due to saltiness!).
-The kids' meals were tiny so my son ordered an extra side of pasta, but they brought and charged him for a full meal.
-The second round of drinks was painfully slow to arrive.
-Our server brought us a beer that she had keyed in by accident, and said it was on the house, but then it was on our bill. (?!?!)
-The atmosphere inside felt like a cafeteria, with no ambience and no effort to create a cozy (or any other) vibe.
To be fair, the duck special was ok, and the grain bowl I ordered to replace the trout was average. But still-- Worst use of $500 in a long time. We love Solitude but we will definitely not be returning to Honeycomb.
