I did the Sham Shui Po tour with Silvana and it was such an enjoyable morning, full of learning about local culture and food. Silvana had a great relationship with the local families who owned hidden (to foreigners) gems and it made the overall experience feel welcoming and engaging. I tried foods I never heard of and visited places I wouldn’t otherwise. Thank you for doing these tours.

++ Feel the taste of Hong Kong culture ++ The food tour with Carrie was great. We went to 5 small restaurants that we would never have visited without Carrie. We learned a lot about the Sham Shui Po district and its people. As Carrie grew up here, she knows her way around and had already been to the restaurants with her parents as a child. The restaurants for the tour were carefully selected and all have a long family history. We were also allowed to watch some dishes being prepared, such as dumplings or coffee and got the opportunity to ask questions to the chefs (Carrie translated 😅). In addition to the restaurants, we also visited other small family-run stores, such as the stores selling medicinal fish products. 👉 A clear recommendation! Thank you for this trip Carrie 💚

Yammy was an excellent guide for the Hong Kong Foodie Tour's Central & Sheung Wan Foodie Tour that I joined during my stay in Hong Kong. The dining spots she selected were all exceptional. Our group sampled Wonton Noodle Soup, Roast Pork, Sugar Cane Juice & Herbal Tea, various Preserved Fruits, A large selection of Dim Sum and Egg Tarts. No one left hungry! All of the food was of top quality and Yammy provided a wealth of information about the history of the places we visited and many other historic bits of information as we walked between dining spots. Yammy even got our group "back stage passes" (a tour of the kitchen) at the Roast Meat restaurant we visited. We were able to see first hand the "roasting chamber" used to create the roast pork dish we had just eaten. Just an amazing experience!

Been On Many, This was the Best What an experience: Great food, mini City Tour, Great Conversation. I was fortunate to be guided by Cecilia who was born in Hong Kong and lived around the world. Her English was perfect, her world view expansive, and her valid claim as a “Foodie” a huge plus. We sampled multiple dishes at 6 different stops. At each, Cecilia was acknowledged by staff and owners as more of a friend than just a tour guide. Her interest in supporting the local businesses was rewarded with good service, great food, and smiles. My one question: Is too much food a bad thing? An unexpected bonus was the brochure that described each restaurant, its address, and what we ate. The brochure also had suggestions for other places to eat and a list of useful Cantonese phrases which I found very useful in the following days of my first visit to Hong Kong. Fantastic tour. Very highly recommended…even for locals!

Me and my wife did the Sham Shui Po tour and loved it. The tour guide was one of the best we've ever had - friendly and funny and knowledgeable. Good mix of dishes, well spaced out through the morning with some good history and info on the neighbourhood. Highly recommend!

We did a Sham Shui Po food tour with Carrie and it was fantastic! It was great having a guide around the neighborhood and Carrie clearly knew what she was doing. We ate so many delicious things (I’ll never forget the pineapple bun!) and had a lot of fun conversations along the way.

Google
Fantastic tour with Carrie snacking at half a dozen small restaurants in Sham Shui Po. Carrie’s extensive knowledge and enthusiasm for the area made it an amazing morning. Highly recommended.

Google
Really excellent tour by Ed. Great intro to the best Cantonese dishes and where to find them, but also a useful tour of the area’s history, how it is changing with plenty of interesting random facts about life in Hong Kong as we walked around

Yelp
I'm a local that is pretending to be a tourist this time, with my tourist hubby. This tour is really interesting because it takes you to a very local area, where there are usually few westerners and food shops might not even have an English menu. While the tour's focus is on food, the tour guide Carrie spaced it out with walks around the wet market, the electronics market and excursions into a few local stores that sells very interesting items. The food that I sampled are truly the gems of the local food culture. The pineapple buns and soft tofu dessert were amongst the best I've had, and despite having grown up near this area, I found some new favourite places that I will be bringing my family to! Another great thing is you could take a peek into the tiny back kitchens of these establishments - all of which make their food on site which is getting rarer and rarer. It's amazing how much people can do in a cramped space in this expensive city. Of course, Carrie did a great job explaining the economic situation of Hong Kong to our group of tourists, since most weren't aware how the city has the largest wealth gap in the world. Overall, the tour was delicious, interesting, socially conscious and wonderfully guided. If you are in tow, adventurous and willing to try some stuff that is hard to get elsewhere in the world, I would highly recommend this tour!

Yelp
This was the best thing about our time in Hong Kong! My friend and I went on the Central & Sheung Wan Foodie Tour. Our guide was Alvin. In my current jet-lagged stupor I can't possibly put into above average words how much I loved this tour, but in the interest of getting this up ASAP, I will do my best. This is a 3.5-hour long walking tour, and SO much more than just restaurant to restaurant. Alvin took us through the traditional outdoor street markets and talked about their seasonal vegetables and how to use them. We saw what is left of the food stall area. We walked through the coolest areas of Hong Kong Island and I felt that I learned so much about the culture and traditions of Hong Kong. The best part: the food! All six places we stopped at (yes, SIX) gave very generous portions of their specialties to taste. I loved it all! We also got to see the kitchens of a couple places, which was cool. By the end of the tour I was truly stuffed. No need for dinner! Alvin was an incredible guide. He truly loves food and cooking, and his passion for these family-owned businesses really came through. He was responsive to any and all questions and really took care of us. I definitely recommend you do this tour at the beginning of your trip because there WILL be places you will want to visit again! Thank you, Hong Kong Foodie Tours and Alvin for a memorable (and absolutely delicious) experience!

Yelp
The Hong Kong Foodie Tour is one of the top experiences I had while in the cosmopolitan city. It is an enjoyable immersion into the traditional Cantonese-influenced yet unique local cuisine whose establishments colorfully twist and spiral through the heart of modern Hong Kong. Chinese food has an abundance of regional differences that one could spend years, if not a lifetime, experiencing, learning, and enjoying. This walking/eating tour is like a creative, diverse 6-course tasting menu come to life that shines a light on one of the pillars of regional Chinese cuisine and the discovery of the culinary delights of Hong Kong. It is a modern-day "Movable Feast" - Hong Kong style. Silvana, our guide, was very knowledgable, well-spoken, pleasant, and charismatic. Born and raised in Hong Kong, her command of English is that of a native English speaker (she mentioned living in Boston for years but her accent is unmistakably and charmingly British). She did a great job corralling our group through the tour, ensuring we arrived at each spot at the perfect time for the next tasting experience. She significantly enhanced the tour with lots of historical sidebars about the city, restaurant family/generational history, and in-depth descriptions and interesting bits of knowledge about each of the places we visited, including some of the mysterious fruits and vegetables and their uses that we encountered within the street markets we passed through. She also pointed out several other interesting culinary subtleties along the way. She is truly one of the best. If in Hong Kong, this window to the soul of the local cuisine will create a great culinary foundation for your entire trip.

Yelp
We had a fantastic time on our Foodie Tasting Tour! We walked to 6 restaurants (short, easy walks) and had a culinary tasting cultural experience unsurpassed by none! We were treated to the history of the food and knowledgeable and thorough preparation techniques. We were also treated through local fish market, fruit market, meat market, and local dried goods. It was all very interesting. Yammy was our guide. She was awesome! We highly recommend this foodie tour.
