I tried Hong Kong Kitchen for the first time yesterday and the food as so good!! I have lived in the South Mountain area for a couple years and have not found a Chinese food place with the style I like. This place has a traditional NY style Chinese food in my opinion. I got the pork fried rice as well as the sweet and sour chicken combo. The portions were great, left me plenty of left overs. I cannot say enough great things about the fried rice, it was perfect! I love the bean sprouts in the rice, which unfortunately a lot of other places have removed. The service was soooo fast and courteous as well. Highly recommend trying this place!

Google
The portioning of these plates were great. Almost too much for one person, but I love that. The service was very attentive, and did not ask for anything as they were already on it. Definitely will go back here

Sadly Not worth the hassles or insults to my deceased mother hence forward. Overcooked I took my senior father out to Sunday evening dinner. We typically chose this restaurant to eat, as we have for decades for our family time meals. I ordered teriyaki chicken which so unfortunate for me it was EXTREMELY DRY. I have come here about 20 years with my parents, I have never complained ever! I took 3 bites which were so hard to break. I separated my chicken to see if I could find anything soft enough to eat just be able to enjoy our family dinner. No luck. I called the waitress; I explained it’s beautiful dish, full of flavor = it would be my absolute #1 dish from here on but my chicken is EXTREMELY OVERCOOKED. I showed her. As I had separated it. The ends were un-penetrable w/ my fork and the center part the thickest part was paper dry. I couldn’t even swallow it, So dry in I had to unfortunately remove it from my mouth into a napkin. I told her, Those ends you can’t break with your teeth. I showed her asking her to touch the chicken parts (I hadn’t eaten) placing it on the table. She was offended, while I told her discreetly. My fork wouldn’t go through my chicken on more than half my plate. The waitress disagreed w/ me stated she’s been doing her job over 20 yrs it wasn’t dry as she sees it’s not. Stating and she knows recognizes us, for years has served my mother mentioning my mother had preparation issues. Now we had informed the waitress at our prior visits that my mother had passed is no longer with us. I tried to stop her from speaking about my mom, telling her my mother was sick. Mind you she knew my mother had dementia / Alzheimer’s and is now recently DEAD. She was well aware we had to always special order all my mothers meals due to possibilities of choking & teeth issues. Foods had to be soft. It was very hurtful for the waitress to argue #1 then bringing up my mothers special needs for eating#2 and speaking of our deceased family member to defend her business. #3 It’s Very disheartening, 🥺My mother never complained, we had to order correctly, safely and this waitress served us for so many years. If I had known this waitress felt that way about my sick mother we wouldn’t have chosen this restaurant! She was very insensitive towards us to save their business a buck not replacing my overcooked dry tough chicken. I wasn’t looking for free food, far from anything like that. It’s about quality time with my senior parents while I have them. I came here with intentions to spend money as money is not the issue for us. I can say after this treatment I vowed to my father I’d NEVER RETURN to this place! What’s worse is: It was the worst service even worse than the terrible dinner. No one deserves to be treated like this. Might I add I didn’t ask for a free meal or discount. I thought perhaps they’d bring me any softer piece of meat (not burnt) so I could eat dinner with my dad. Pics below. I ate my carrots cabbage egg roll and cream puff that’s honestly all you could eat. I had to waste the entire chicken

Google
For $25 I thought that my order would be exactly what I wanted. NOT!! 😡😡😡😡 I ordered chicken n broccoli with fried rice for my mom and egg foo young with fried rice. I specifically asked for the fried rice to be with the onions n vegetables in it and they just gave me PLAIN RICE WITH SOME CRAPPY SAUCE OVER IT! 😡😡😡😡 The egg foo young has NO GRAVY on it whatsoever so now I gotta make my own or else I’m gonna be eating DRY FRIED EGGS! I should have looked at the order before leaving. MY MISTAKE! I will never order from this place again. I should have known that it wouldn’t be like what I’m used to in Atlanta, Georgia. I just wasted $25!! 😡😡😡

Google
Delicious Chinese with a good variety of options! Every time I'm in the area, I have to get it! Very good service and nice staff. Wish they were closer to me but probably a good thing they're not because I would be way too broke and fat!

Google
Beware! If you choose to order to go, unpack your entire to go order before you leave the the store. They forgot to include sauces for us, when we go back for the sauces instead of apologizing for us having to make a second trip, we are made to feel like thieves. Like we are stealing the $.50 sauces from you. The food was pretty decent but we will never return.

Yelp
I enjoyed my meal here. Pros: - Great service - Good tasting Wonton Soup, Kung Pao chicken, chips to start. - Restaurant was clean Con's: Fried rice was below average but wasn't a mainstay in my dish.

Yelp
Really good spot for either take out or sitting down to dine in. We love the chicken fried rice, orange chicken, and sesame chicken. Have also had the egg drop soup and that's good as well. Decent sized portions, good food, fair prices. And friendly staff too!

Yelp
Very nice and quiet. Good food. And service was fine. We had the place to ourselves and now

Yelp
I ordered it through Uber eats it was so disappointed. The food wasn't packed well so the chicken spilled out. A specifically mention which soup I wanted and they gave me some egg soup that was super thick and un appealing. I also specifically stated that I only wanted the soup and egg roll because I am allergic to all seafood. They put crab cakes in both dishes. So I was really afraid to taste both dishes due to cross contamination. Both dishes were supposed to be medium hot. They absolutely had no taste to them nor did they have any spice over $40 wasted zero out of 10 do not recommend

Yelp
Just really good takeout Chinese food. Loved the orange beef. Very clean and staff friendly.

Yelp
My first time ordering from Hong Kong kitchen. We ordered the wonton soup, orange chicken, Singapore noodles, cashew chicken, and pork, fried rice. The food was delicious . We also got free donuts and they were so good. My kids pretty much ate them all. The two ladies working there were so nice and welcoming. Great customer service. We will be going back again.

Yelp
Looking for Asian food on the mainland is a bit hard when you're in the middle of Arizona. But I came across this place on Yelp and thought I'd give it a shot. First green flag, they serve real sriracha! First red flag, we were never given chopsticks. I ordered the Mapo Tofu combo (came with "fried rice", spring roll, soup, and crab rangoons). It was a deal cause the combo only added an extra $1.75. But honestly I didn't feel like it was a win cause the fried rice was rice with soy sauce, the crab rangoons were sweet and not great. The spring roll was the best thing on the plate. The egg drop soup was amazing and the highlight of my meal. The Mapo Tofu had a slight spice, deliciously soft tofu, and was a huge amount. There was no ground pork or any other substances. I was surprised I just got tofu. But at least it tasted good. Would I go here again? The service was suuuuuuper nice. If I was desperate for Chinese food, maybe. But I'm more keen on cooking at home myself.

Yelp
I discovered Hong Kong Kitchen a few months ago. I ordered online takeout while traveling from one job site to another. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty everything was. I have returned four times now. The restaurant is clean, it has a relaxing atmosphere, the staff are polite and well mannered. Their orange chicken is wonderful. I have sampled many items off of their menu and I have not been disappointed.

Claudia V.

Yelp
Service is always great here. The owner is super nice. The food is always delicious, never have we had a complaint. Ambiance, we just enjoy going to Hong Kong Kitchen.

Yelp
First time trying egg drop soup and it was yummy warm and good consistency! The food was great and you get your moneys worth of serving. I usually steer away from food on this side of town but I'm happy with my order here! We got the sweet n sour & orange chicken with soups crab puffs and white rice. Delicious :) staff was also attentive and very nice.

Yelp
Food is always on point when I order. Always received good service and fast. Clean place to have some good Chinese food with family.

Rachel W.

Yelp
I love this place! I discovered it almost a year ago, and it is one of my go to's for Chinese food. Generous portions, tasty, and very friendly staff. I prefer to call in my orders as ordering online gets pricey with the food app mark ups. Give it a try, I promise you'll enjoy!

Jason J.

Yelp
We had tried this place in 2022 and weren't impressed. Today we tried again and I'm glad we did. Friendly staff, great food, reasonably priced.
google avatar

Laura C.

Yelp
Not very good. Paid $51 for 3 combos only a small scoop of rice. Their "fried rice" was white rice with soy sauce and egg mixed in & wasn't really fried rice. Entrees were not to great. Kung pow chicken, dragon shrimp & chicken and the orange chicken was average out of everything. Egg drop soup wasn't great either.

Yelp
I am continuing my search for great Chinese in the Phoenix area. I was hoping this place could be a great potential but I was sadly disappointed. We ordered takeout after grocery shopping at the Fry's next door. Our order was ready within 10 min or so. The staff was friendly when taking our order and picking up. We ordered crab puffs, spring rolls, beef and broccoli and shrimp with mixed vegetables, totaling about $32. The crab puffs were decent but everything else lacked flavor. Both the beef and broccoli and the shrimp with veggies were bland and had a very runny and watered down sauce. The beef was over processed and I ended up picking it out and just eating the broccoli.

Yelp
Love the food! They accommodate special requests and are authentic. Great and friendly service! The ambiance is average at best. But functional.

Yelp
Amazing customer service. We set up an online order that was ready for pick up in 10 minutes! The food was delicious and well seasoned. Everything was fresh and tasty and the meats well cooked. The front desk lady was very friendly and when we picked up the order they had free donuts for us. Overall great place, very clean and from now on our favorite Chinese food restaurant to order from.

Yelp
Wow doesn't even fully encapsulate my experience here. The food and the customer service were top notch. We have tried several Chinese food places in the area and this will be our go to from now on. From the crispy and creamy Crab Puffs, to the flavorful and tangy BBB Pork, we enjoyed everything we ate. They even sent us home with a dessert of sugar coated dough balls. So grateful for their kindness.

Yelp
When you are craving sweet, fried Chinese-American bites this place will hit the spot 100%. You know, like when it's a cold day outside and you're too lazy to cook? That's where HK Kitchen comes through. What I loved: The sweet and sour shrimp, they are huge and generous with the egg batter, which in this case I actually enjoy. They are such a great finger food. What I liked: Crab puffs that actually taste crabby, General Tso's Chicken that is on the sweet side but still all syrupy and crispy. This is comfort food to me, and I can see myself dropping by or getting it delivered many more times.

Yelp
Stopped by on my way back to work. Ordered the human chicken lunch special. DEELISC! With each lunch special comes with a soup of choice, crab Rangoon, fried rice, egg roll. Before stopping in, I looked on Yelp for top Chinese takeout spots in the area. This was it!!! The service was swift, friendly, and right on! I'm deathly allergic to Shellfish, so the crab Rangoon I asked to not be included with my meal, AND IT WASN'T! It's a casual spot for lunch, dinner with/ without family in a strip mall. I would go back again.

Richard B.

Yelp
The food is good for the price and the combos has plenty of mixed options. Thee food is always quick and n never have you waiting long periods of time

Yelp
5 stars! This is certainly my new go-to Chinese spot. First and foremost when you enter the restaurant you'll notice how clean it is. They definitely care about their restaurant's appearance which was a plus in my book. The staff was very kind from the moment we entered to order. I informed them it would be a to-go order but I needed to check out the menu first. The woman taking my order was kind and offered insight on their menu when I had questions on their items. We ended up getting the general t'sos chicken and walnut shrimp dinner combos. The dinner combos came with choice of soup, fried rice, crab puffs, and an egg roll. Not a bad deal for an extra dollar on top of the regular entree price. Not only do you get a lot of food, the portion sizes of the entrees were hefty! You'll be sure to have leftovers whenever you order a dinner entree. The meal was very good and the flavors were perfect! Their walnut shrimp is one of my favorite I've had in Phoenix! A must try if you are in the area.

Yelp
I can't give this local restaurant enough praise both as a doordasher and a customer. I came back after doing an order today for one of my doordash customers just to try it out. While I am a vegetarian and had to have a thorough discussion with the very friendly and courteous staff I sadly learned that they cook from the same pots as they do the meat. At first I was very disappointed since I was eager to really try their food but was afraid I couldn't. However the staff was so kind and helpful they went out of their way to have it specially prepared so that this cross contamination was not going to happen. Hence I was able to order my kung pao broccoli as I had hoped. I will say it is very delicious with the peanuts and the addition of Sriracha. Just note to fellow veggies. You may not be able to order it yourselves if they are busy but I was fortunate to catch them on a slower day. Amazing service and great food I couldn't ask for a better place!!
google avatar

Leslie A.

Yelp
The beef lomein tasted like fish/shrimp even though it wasn't. Also had zero flavor. The general Tao chicken was over cooked like jerky. I don't know how this place gets 4 stars.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
My absolute favorite Chinese restaurant They have the best food and the owner is super nice
google avatar

Stac H.

Yelp
My husband and I have been eating here for maybe 5 years now? We both love it. I can't think of a time when they messed up our order, or when everything wasn't hot and fresh. We always get takeout although we did eat in one time and that was a great experience. By the suggestion of another review, I ordered the Singapore noodles the first time I ate here (I had never heard of such a thing?), and I have ordered that every time since with no regrets. He always gets the sweet and sour chicken. Just went here to order dinner for tonight and wanted to leave this review. Thanks for the consistently great food and service when I am too lazy to cook. It's much appreciated
google avatar

Yelp
Some of the better Chinese food anywhere! I have had four different dishes here and each one was on point! No complaints from me. I had the Sweet and Sour Chicken combo. The House fried rice, Vegetable Delight and Kung Pau Chicken. ALL were great! Food was fresh and lite Give them a try
google avatar

Joyce W.

Yelp
Sad that this is Chinese food in Phoenix. I know there's better but further from where we were staying. The prices are high for the food we got and it was way too saucy and salty and so full of msg. The waitress was nice, but kind of negative, had nothing good to say about Phoenix to us visitors. She was just not an upbeat person, but I guess that's too be expected as I'm sure she has a tough life. Overall, it was ok but not real Chinese food.
google avatar

Yelp
Finally, a delicious chai knees food experience! Coming from California we finally found a good delicious place to get our lo mein and our favorite foods!!!
google avatar

Torrey B.

Yelp
Waitress had a bad attitude. My food was bland. She told me "I can remake it but its going to taste the exact same."

Shirley H.

Yelp
Service is great. Have a big appetite because portion size is big. Staff is very friendly
google avatar

Marshall W.

Yelp
We love this place. Any time we are lazy and order delivery from another place, we are disappointed. The soups, appetizers, fried rice, and entrees are always hot and fresh. It is delicious!
google avatar

Maria Monica M.

Yelp
Hot rice and hot tea on a cold day always hits the spot. The lunch specials offer a smaller portion but include soup, egg roll and crab puff for an affordable price. Many entrees on the lunch menu. We enjoyed a great lunch. Try the shrimp and vegetables!
google avatar

Jamie-Sue W.

Yelp
All filler no food. The mushu didn't come w the plum sauce. The fried rice was mostly bean sprouts, little rice and just tasted like rice w/ veggies, not fried rice. The veggie egg rolls were overdone and greasy. The meat dishes looked like they might be better, but vegetarians, stear clear.
google avatar

Zoe B.

Yelp
Such a great hole in the wall Chinese place. I usually get the Mongolian beef, beef with broccoli, cream cheese wontons, or sweet and sour soup. Everything is always really good. They're also very consistent with their food quality and portion size. This place is also very reasonably priced in my opinion.
google avatar

Steven M.

Yelp
The food is four to four and a half stars. The three rating is due to service and disorganization. The first time we tried carry out we loved the freshness of the soup, our entree's were flavorful and authentic. Unfortunately we were charged twice for the same meal and when we complained we were dismissed. As I said the food was very good so we decided to try it again. The second time we received the complete wrong order but again it was very good. I recommend Hong Kong Kitchen because of the quality and taste of the food. I also recommend that you check your order and your bill before you leave the restaurant
google avatar

Jerrica S.

Yelp
This is my third time here now and yup, still blown away by how amazing and fresh this food is. The sesame chicken is my absolute fav! So is the egg drop soup and crab cheese wontons. 10/10 recommend. Will be returning. The customer service is also really nice and the wait time isn't long at all.
google avatar

Laurel G.

Yelp
The place far exceeded our expectations! My teriyaki chicken was made with white meat chicken and that is very rare for a Chinese restaurant!! The cream cheese crab puffs were extraordinarily good which was a nice surprise! Kinda sweet but with a perfect crunch! We will be back!!
google avatar

Monica L.

Yelp
Everything we ordered was delicious. We placed a take out order on New Years Eve. For entrees, we got the Kung pao chicken, orange chicken, cashew shrimp and Phoenix & Dragon. We also got the hot and sour soup and crab puffs. My favorite was the Phoenix and Dragon...so good! Another review mentioned it, and I'm glad we got it. Will definitely order from them again.
google avatar

Eddie S.

Yelp
Every time you go, you can expect fresh, hot food. I usually do takeout and it's always on point. I've never had orange chicken as good as they make it here. The lunch specials are great value.
google avatar

Esli C.

Yelp
The food was really good. The egg drop soup was delicious & the food came pretty fast. Customer service could use some work. I'm not picky or a needy customer but I do like the bare minimum (saying thank you). They are fast and get things done fast though :)
google avatar

Alyssa E.

Yelp
The food is soooooo much better than we anticipated! We will definitely be back!!! Friendly service, I am surprised it is not more packed in here. The quality and presentation is great! Large amounts of food
google avatar

Stefanie E.

Yelp
Decided to order since the reviews stated the food was good and tasty. Not in my case at all! The food was bland with no flavor. Disappointed On the plus side they did add free sugar "donuts" those were decent. I got the family dinner for 2. Orange Chicken, Wonton Soup, House Fried Rice and Chicken Lo Main and Walnut Shrimp.
google avatar

Erica M.

Yelp
For a quick Eat that's hard to Beat this place nails it!! & the staff is always beyond sweet & accommodating
google avatar

Gabby S.

Yelp
Decided to try this place out per the reviews, DID NOT DISAPPOINT! We've tried many places out with little to no luck. Hong Kong Kitchen is amazing! Great prices, good heavy portions. We got a bunch of things from their menu, pot stickers, crab puffs, fried rice, lo main, sweet and sour chicken, sesame chicken, and egg drop soup. Everything was delicious. They threw in some free doughnuts, very nice of them. Will be back for sure!
google avatar

Deni G.

Yelp
Just not good Today my lunch companion and I were in the mood for Chinese cuisine so we thought we would give Hong Kong Kitchen a try. I realized Hong Kong receives many positive reviews but to be honest, it just wasn't good, in my opinion. Maybe I caught them on an off day. The service was good. We were seated immediately, given menus, and our beverages were served quickly. So we choose our entrees, Sweet and Sour Chicken and pork, eggrolls, crab puff, rice, and refreshments. Prior to our entrees we were given a complimentary bowl of egg drop soup, however I just didn't like the taste. The portion sizes at Hong Kong Kitchen are large, and the prices are fair, however, the food just isnt very good. The taste of the of the sweet and sour chicken/pork was too sweet/salty, and the liberal usage of corn starch made for an unpleasant taste. Both our dishes were smothered in sweet & sour sauce, to the point of being soggy. The entrees just weren't good. The same could be said about the rice and eggrolls. Maybe, I will revisit Hong Kong Kitchen, and give them another try, however, this visit wasn't very good.

Destiny C.

Yelp
Saw this whole in the wall restaurant walking out of Fry's grocery store. Decided to check it out for dinner. I got the sesame chicken combo, which comes with fried rice, soup, an egg roll, and cream puffs. All of these had amazing flavor. Best sesame chicken I've ever had. The egg drop soup was also very flavorful. Worth the try!

Yelp
I visit this place at least twice a month. My favorite Chinese place to be. The food is always delicious and if you love traditional authentic Chinese food this is your place. The waitresses Jenny and Lynn work had in making you feel comfortable and happy that you came. The Phoenix and dragon dish is delicious with its one of a kind sauce mixed with chicken and shrimp. Best Chinese on the west side.
