This little tucked away black pebble beach is a slice of secluded paradise. Perfect for surfers catching a wave or just for getting away to a more private part along the Road to Hana. The sound of rocks and pebbles dragging along as the waves crash and pull back in is so peaceful. The road down is not paved and has potholes so be wary if not driving with 4WD.

Off the road hard to see down a hill and into a beautiful cove of black rock. The sound of the waves of the rock there make a melody. Rough road but doable.

Nice secluded beach along the road to Hana. Would recommend a 4WD vehicle if you plan on driving onto the sand.

Great stop on your road to Hana experience. The small road down to the beach park is ridden with potholes so go slow and avoid if possible. Parking at the end for a few cars and more to the left. Gorgeous setting for picnic or day use. Love the palms!

Black sand beach is lovely. A little tricky to find the entrance off the Hana Highway, and then a short, little rough dirt road but worth it. The protected bay is beautiful with jungle coming right down to the water. Be sure to turn around and check out of fresh water stream that feeds into the Bay. There are no lifeguards, no restrooms, no campsites or picnic benches, no kid stuff and no other services and no cell reception. You are on your own...be careful and safe.

Stopped by Honomanu bay on an adventure around the Northeastern side of Maui. This private little beach had a fairly well maintained dirt access road down to the black sand beach. We were driving a 4 wheel drive vehicle, which handled well. We would not recommend driving down the access road if your vehicle isn’t meant for off-roading, but you can park about a 5minute walk up the hill and enjoy the view at the beach. Even while raining, this was a delightful spot tucked away from many other cars and tourists.
