On the Grid : Honor Fraser Gallery

"Honor Fraser, a former fashion model and art dealer, decided it was time to open her own space not too long ago – we're happy she did. It's a simple setup that is easy to move through. The gallery represents artists like Kenny Scharf and Kaz Oshiro. It's well curated and never ceases to amaze us." - Rapt Studio

One of my favorite galleries in LA - always have some great post war masters show like Morris Louis and some great Ed Ruscha exhibits over the years - good curation program 🖼

I have been there twice for the Kaws exhibition. It was an awesome experience because I got to see Kaws in person and his artwork. I'm pretty sure they have plenty of artist that do exhibitions.

Yelp
I went here awhile back for the Kaws art opening. It's a cool gallery, with kooky people inside like this lady wearing all neon with a wack ass fruit hat on top of her head. Obviously we couldn't afford any of the work (not that it wasn't already claimed by extremely wealthy people like Lance Armstrong) but it was fun. Only the first 100 people got inside and then I think people were stuck for a long time in a line. They seemed upset. Didn't happen to me.. the honest truth is if you are going to a special event here you should probably get there early. I think Kaws hurt my boyfriend's feelings when he wouldn't sign the Kaws companion he brought along. Oh well, not Honor Fraser's fault. Honor Fraser had on a really nice dress, not that this really impacts the gallery. The best part of the night had to do with the 3 Kaws rainbow heads. Two were on pedestals and one was on the ground, next to the pedestal as if it had fallen. Artistic choice for whatever reason.. but all the sudden this older guy picks it up and places it back on the pedestal, thinking he's helping out. It was so awesome because Kaws rushed over to fix it into the original place- back on the floor. He was looking pissed.

Yelp
One of my favorite galleries in Culver City and I can always count on them to have some visually appealing work. They usually show contemporary art that is borderline street art/graffiti. Fresh work that is more easily accessible to a younger crowd or those that are just looking for some cool art that isn't extremely abstract or blue chip. The space is larger than many of the galleries on the same street. All galleries are made for selling art but don't be intimidated by the people at the front desk, feel free to just browse. There's a book if you're curious about the pricing though!

Yelp
Of all the galleries I visited as part of the Culver City Art Walk, Honor Fraser was one of my favorites. Currently, they're exhibiting KAWS. The bright, neon and almost comic-book quality of the sculptures and paintings were just plain fun. When you first walk in, there seemed to be a long hallway that was fairly dark. If you go to your left, you pass the receptionists and into the bright gallery that perfectly displayed the KAWS pieces. I think almost everyone was wondering about the three heads. One was on the ground with a sign, "please do not touch." Was it on purpose? Were they waiting for the artist to personally come back to put it back on the pedestal? I'm voting for it was done on purpose. The office was open and we snuck in for a peek behind-the-scenes. There were smaller pieces on display. Great gallery. I am looking forward to the next Art Walk to check out more exhibits.

Yelp
This was a treat! A gallery just off the 10 East at LaCienaga & Venice. An interesting set of artists and exhibits. We came to see work by Wm Leavitt & Katy Crowe, among others. Some very interesting work on view.

Yelp
A fantastic place to check out art. I recently went here for the Kaws exhibit Man's Best Friend. I like the simple 3 room setup in this gallery. Everything is laid out elegantly and flows from piece to piece curated smoothly.

Yelp
First time here for the KAWS-Man's Best Friend gallery showing. The venue is located in a busy part of La Cienega Blvd, so be prepared to scavenge for parking. The venue is next to neighboring art galleries and businesses. Don't be discouraged as the doors are tinted and seems like no one is inside, but when you open the door, then you can see the great art pieces being shown on display. Upon entrance you can pick up a art-piece showing sheet directly to your left and decide if you want to view the pieces clockwise or counter-clockwise. The place is beautifully curated with KAWS artwork and does not disappoint. Great place to view KAWS new work or share a viewing pleasure with someone. A suggested must come.

Yelp
This was the second time I've been to Honor Fraiser. Both times I came it was for a Kaws exhibit. I love it since it free and great space for exhibits.
