"On the far end of Lahaina’s Front Street, away from the congested shops and streets, Honu Oceanside is a longtime Maui institution. It has a built-in fanbase of locals, part-timers, and frequent visitors who patronized the restaurant when chef Mark Ellman ran the place (along with the nearby Mala Tavern.) Despite a recent total makeover, the restaurant still has much of Ellman’s menu in place meaning it draws the regulars as much as the curious tourists for pizzas (try the Ali’i hamakua mushroom with white truffles), big plates (rock shrimp mac and cheese), and the island-famous ahi bruschetta starter.
