Concrete steps for the entire climb and handrails on only part of the climb. Was a difficult climb with 589 steps but was worth it. We were able to see some goats on the climb. At the very top the view is towards the south and west but the close east beach is not really visible as there is a lot of cactus that block the view. Worth it if you like the exercise and climb. The parking is just a dirt lot near the bottom you will see green and white steps to start the climb.

Stairs, stairs, stairs,...and more stairs. The total of 589 concrete steps. No special shoes needed, you will be on concrete all the way to the top. Nice views from the top, a couple of goats and lizards, but one star down for trash being everywhere. Undeveloped parking available at the trailhead.

A must-do in Aruba!
Hooiberg is the perfect morning hike—short but rewarding. The climb up the steps is a great workout, and at the top you’re treated to sweeping 360° views of the island. Sunrise is absolutely magical here as the whole island lights up in gold and pink. And if you’re lucky, you may even spot a few goats along the way, which adds to the charm. A peaceful, energizing start to the day—highly recommend!

The place is great for a walk and watching the sunrise. The walk is pleasant and has a very good viewpoint where you can see a large part of the country.

A workout in a burst of 16-20 min. Definitely gets you sweaty doing it in late morning, but the panoramic views from the top is well worth it. There are chalk marks every 25+ steps, not sure if accurate as it says 600 near the finish.

Awesome volcanic hike, but was a bit of a challenge. Steep steps and half the steps didn’t have a railing. Take care going up and down, especially if it’s raining/rained or if the steps have sand/dirt.
The view is worth it though!!!!!

587 step climb to the top! It was a nice change of scenery (pun intended) from the beach. Bring water- as it seems fairly simple but those steps are STEEP.
Plenty of places for a rest on the way up and beautiful few. Apparently on a clear day you can see all the way to Venezuela - but we weren’t able to.
