I am so glad we chose to stay here during our trip to Maui. The feeling of calm that washes over you as soon as you arrive is so special. The house decor and layout is so thoughtful and airy which makes you feel at home straight away. We stayed in the ‘Kohola’ room with the outdoor shower which was a cool experience. The view from the pool area is amazing and we enjoyed the sunsets here. Breakfast was simple but really nice, eating the homemade bread and muffins, the fresh fruit on the patio make for a perfect morning. We stayed for 3 nights and wished we had longer!

Beautiful views with kind, welcoming, hosts. So grateful to have stayed here. We celebrated our 30th anniversary in late July, it was our first time on the island. We will definitely come back. I complimented their jelly and asked where the purchased it and the next day there was a jar outside our room, with a little note. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

I stayed at Ho’oilo House for five nights in July, and enjoyed every aspect of my visit. It has all the elegance and luxury of an upscale resort without the noise or the crowd. It’s a tranquil and beautiful place to relax between Maui adventures, and is by far my favorite place I’ve ever stayed on Maui. In particular, the comfortable bed and linens, the outdoor shower under the stars, and the pool and zen garden made it stand out to me. The breakfast was great, healthy and delicious, and Dan and Amy strike the perfect balance of being friendly and helpful hosts without hovering!

This is a lush, beautiful, and ideally located B&B and Dan and Amy take such good care of their guests we felt like family. It was our first time in Maui and we wanted a low key (rather than big resort/hotel) experience. Ho'oilo House was the perfect solution. It somehow managed to be off the beaten path but close to everything we wanted to do. We stayed in two different rooms as the ocean view became available for the last 3 nights of our stay and I will say that every room has something to offer. Each room has a lovely carved door at its entrance and an outdoor shower. I loved walking around the grounds and looking at all kinds of gorgeous tropical plants, beautiful birds, lizards hoping about, and even the requisite B&B cat. The grounds, lobby and pool are simply amazing and the breakfast options each morning are just the right way to start the day. I would highly recommend Ho'oilo House!

We had a great stay at this beautiful spot in Lāhainā. Very quiet and peaceful. We loved taking morning walks. Loved the beautiful and simple breakfasts and the outdoor shower. Dan and Amy were kind and helpful. I did yoga outdoors on the lawn each morning, overlooking the ocean. We had the amazing and highly recommended Signature Lomi Lomi Massage treatments outdoors on the lanai. Definitely a place to unwind.

This is the best accommodation I’ve ever booked. It’s beautiful. It has breakfast. You’ll find just hanging out there enjoyable. And I realize a lot of reviews gush about how awesome Dan and Amy are, but if I may pile on - when a smoke detector started beeping at 3 am and we woke Dan up to fix it, he was incredibly gracious and nice about the whole thing. And he fixed it.

A beautiful home set in a gorgeous garden, surrounded by abundant wildlife, stunning sea views and sunsets, located in a prestige residential area. ||||For British travellers, it’s similar to discovering a rare, boutique stay you might find in the Cotswolds, Cornwall, or Devon. Located in a residential neighbourhood rather than amongst resort hubs and downtown holiday lets.||||The house itself is truly one-of-a-kind, with interiors worthy of a magazine spread, “Soho House” attention-to-detail with tropical/Balinese design. ||||The hosts, are literally your neighbours, and strike the perfect balance between being warm and sociable, with space to relax. There is a sense of safety and security having the owners next door for any questions, needs, etc. Dan in particular, offers a warm welcome, provided plenty of recommendations, easy going and made many kind gestures …. thank you! ||||You are close to nature, from birds to insects, so don’t be freaked out to find nature indoors. Thankfully, there are no predators on land, only a few in the sea!||||Breakfast is delicious with freshly baked artisanal muffins and bread - plenty of choice and the tray wafted delicious.||||Having stayed at a couple of the “leading” hotels in Honolulu, neither resort came close to the guest care, peaceful and quiet, or had the uninterrupted stunning views found at Ho’olio House - it was way more personal and exclusive. Also, the other guests were like-minded travellers.||||Dan, Kathy and Amy made our first visit to Maui unforgettable. ||We wish them all the very best, and thanks once again. It was really lovely to meet you all.

Beautiful and pleasant surroundings. Gorgeous home nestled in the hillside among other homes. Delicious breakfast. Friendly and helpful hosts. Nice view of ocean in distance. Beautiful outdoor sitting areas. Also an airy comfortable indoor central space with seating for 4. Hosts provide beach stuff for you to take to various swim and snorkel beaches. Volcano is about 75 minutes away. Lots of beaches nearby but for most popular, you must arrive early for parking. Much of close-by Lahaina closed still to non-residents, but a small strip of the famous Front Street with 5 good restaurants is open.

Yelp
We stayed at this beautiful bed & breakfast during our visit to Maui. Dan and his wife Amy, our hosts, live with their daughters in the house right behind the Ho'oilo House. The house is located uphill from Lahaina in a residential area which is kinda secluded, serene and quiet but it's a short drive away from the busier part of town. The B&B is adults only which makes for an even more relaxing stay. Our hosts were very helpful and attentive. When we arrived the front doors to the house were open and there was an envelope with a welcoming letter taped to the door for us. We made our way around the house then outside to the gorgeously manicured garden and pool area, and then to our room. I had an initial moment of shock when I realize there was no key to get into the suite and no way of locking our door upon leaving for the day but then I experienced the most liberating feeling when I realized I really didn't need to lock anything, the house is very safe and all of the other guests (which aren't that many since there's only 6 suites) respect each other's privacy and space. There is a safe in the suite however, if you need to store any valuable items. We stayed in the Kohola suite which was one of the two rooms with a view. Besides the amazing views (especially the sunset views which you may enjoy from your private lanai, from your bed or even while you shower!) the suite had a very comfortable bed, lots of comfortable pillows, an outside shower, a nice ivory stone tub, a small fridge and an electric kettle along with tea and instant Starbucks coffee. Due to COVID the continental breakfast is provided individually for each room as opposed to buffet style. We were asked to fill out a form the night before with our requests of items such as toast, muffins, hard boiled eggs, granola, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, coffee, etc and our hosts would have breakfast ready for us at our requested time. We usually had breakfast by the pool but you can certainly take the tray to your room if you'd prefer a bit more privacy. Also due to COVID, they were not providing scheduled daily housekeeping service which was no bid deal, especially since if we needed any extra towels, coffee or toiletries all we needed to do is let Dan or Amy know and they would take care of it. We were also able to borrow beach chairs and a beach umbrella for the day, they were available on a first come first serve basis. Definitely recommend staying at the Ho'oilo house if you're looking for a stress free, serene, relaxing vacation.

Yelp
What a sweet place! Loved our stay here in the peaceful, serene, beautiful hills above Lahaina. Dan is a wonderful host, tends to every need, and full of great information. The morning breakfast set up is perfect. We enjoyed our daily tray poolside, listening to the birds helping us greet the day. The outdoor showers are an awesome experience! Who would ever want a traditional shower again? Note: be prepared to navigate your luggage down the stairs from the parking area to the house.

Yelp
"Wow" is the word to describe this place. It feels like staying in a museum in the best way, not stuffy, but gorgeously decorated with care. My wife and I had the best honeymoon staying here in Nalu. The bed was so comfy, the room appointed with an amazing, huge tub, and top it off with an outdoor shower and patio overlooking one of the best mountain/ocean vistas you will ever experience. Breakfast on our patio looking at the island was bliss. The pool is great for a dip as well. The owners were friendly and helpful, but not in the way at all. Other guests were spotted but never for long, and never loud. So romantic

Yelp
Be advised this is NOT a family/kid friendly B&B. It is a quiet Bali style resort with limited staff and amenities nestled at the foothills in a residential area. It is still a 5 star B&B even without the amenities and walking distance to the beach. If you want a nice relaxing vacation without the hustle and bustle of other tourists and/or screaming children, this is it! Only 6 rooms, each with semi-private lanai, 2 facing the ocean (we got lucky ours did). Open space, doors always open, guests don't lock their rooms! We booked the Nalu room, all rooms are named. One queen bed, outdoor shower with free standing tub inside ( there is no shower in the room, only the outdoor shower). You will be showering with the lizards and other criters (FYI) crawling around. Didn't bother me. Oh and they prefer no shoes in the rooms. There is a fridge in the room. Toilet is in the open, no door. Our lanai faces the ocean, sunset can be viewed. The view is incredible! There is a common area, kinda like a living room in a house, with coffee and tea all day. Someone cooks breakfast in the morning. Dan was the groundskeeper when we were there, he's on the property most of the day. You check in with him, there is no "front desk". This is the kind of place you can hang out all day, which was what I noticed. Couples hang out by the pool, that faces the ocean. Our stay was so peaceful. I would definitely stay there again. tip: turning into the property is a 1 lane road for 2 way traffic meaning you'd need to see if someone is coming down and yield so they go first. It wasn't a big deal, our 5 day stay we didn't have to yield to anyone, hardly anyone coming and going.

Yelp
I would definitely would recommend this place if you're looking to get away from the big resort areas and have a quiet time. It is a wonderful little bed and breakfast in the hills above Lahaina. The view is, of course, incredible, and the house itself is very quaint and reminded us of the place we stayed in Bali. We stayed in the Wailele room which was plenty big and had a queen sized bed. Our lanai looked out onto the hills above, but also a bit onto the parking area, which was fine most of the time, but sometimes people do walk by and can see you. I saw a few reviews mention that there was no door to the toilet area, but rest assured this particular room does indeed have a toilet area with a door. We didn't have any lizards, frogs, cockroaches, or bugs in our room, save for the occasional small flying insect, but the lizards do love hanging around the property and it's fun to watch them, along with the other wildlife including magpies, chicken, doves, and the occasional cat. The continental breakfast every morning was always delicious and plentiful. Dan and his family are great hosts and are always accommodating and kind. We rarely ever heard or saw any of the other guests. The air conditioning worked great, and while the outdoor shower was more like a hose than a traditional showerhead, it worked fine. My main complaint is that our room did not have a key, and so, we could not lock the door when we left. There were no issues with theft or entry, but it was a bit nerve wracking to leave the room like that. The only other issue we had was that they had to do a few days of inspections which required the inspectors to have access to our room. Not my favorite, but I understand. Overall, it's a very charming place that is not typical of your usual big resort Hawaiian vacation.

Yelp
This is truly a place that delights all the senses at every turn down to the tiniest detail. Ho'oilo House is simply one of finest B&B's in which I've ever stayed. The beautiful scenery, landscaping/foliage and Bali-esque architecture of it will simultaneously comfort and de-stress you -- and knock you off your feet. Also, the folks who run this place keep it up beautifully and are attentive and hospitable. We worked with Dan mostly -- and he is a wonderful grounds caretaker who is detail-oriented, relaxed and professional. The floor to ceiling windows with views of the Pacific Ocean and sunset, beautiful wood structural details and ponds/pools will take your breath away from the moment you walk through the open air foyer and halls. All the details are deliberately planned to relax and (I don't use this word like ever) inspire you. We stayed in the Honu (Turtle) room for 5 nights and loved it. The marble bath is pretty amazing and the views off your room allow you to see both the mountains and the ocean simultaneously (the website downplays the view, but we felt you really do get to see more from this room than the website would have you believe). And just FYI -- You also are the closest room to the meditation gazebo if that happens to be your thing. Small details count, too, and this place gets them all right. We loved the Ho'oilo House soaps, their coffees and teas left out all day (seriously, they must have curated the stuff down to only the best), the fact the the owners are environmentally conscious (they are some of the few people on the islands that recycle!), the floral smell that drifts through the air day and night, the clear and haunting views of the Milky Way (even from the outdoor shower), the sounds of the fountains and ponds... We loved it all! Here's another little tidbit: the woman who tidies the rooms seems to really get what to touch, tidy and restock and what not to. A seemingly minor detail, but can have ginormous impact on how convenient and thoughtful an experience is. So refreshing to find such a down to earth place that's beautiful, inviting, natural and spectacular! I can't say enough good things about this place and will be returning for years to come.

Yelp
On our 10th wedding anniversary we couldn't have picked a more beautiful and serene place than Ho'olio House to celebrate. Nestled at the base of the mountain near Lahaina on the west coast of Maui, this B&B is full of rustic Polynesian charm without sacrificing any modern amenities. The exterior was just as charming our room, with it's manicured gardens and stone-lined swimming pool, which looked out over the Pacific with a view of Lanai and every evening, one of Maui's stellar sunset. Dan, our host, was gracious and helpful, arranging a special gift in our room for our arrival and recommended great places to visit during out short stay, whether it was in nearby Lahaina or elsewhere on the island. If you're going to Maui, and looking for a quiet, and charming place, away from all the hustle and bustle, this is it. Hey

Yelp
AMAZING! Thank you Dan and Amy for an Amazing stay at your incredible B and B! We celebrated our 26th anniversary here and it couldn't have been any nicer! Dan and Amy are generous and gracious and cater to your every need so all you have to do is relax and enjoy! Mahalo! Lee and Antoinette Mission Viejo, CA

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at this beautiful and breathtaking bed and breakfast for the first half of our honeymoon in Maui. Because this house is located up in the mountains, the views of the sky, waters and mountains in the distance are magnificent. The atmosphere itself feels like Bali; hence, the furniture here is made and shipped from Bali. Each room has a different personality but they all come with an outdoor shower and Balinese wooden bathtub, which were my two absolute favorite pieces. My favorite amenities include the high quality, natural tea leaves in the lobby, the sensatia bar soaps and shampoos, and the hearty, natural, local, and organic breakfasts. Amy and Daniel are very hospitable and accommodating and they really put in every detail to the Ho'oilo House to create a paradise within a paradise. My husband and I loved every bit of our stay here and bought home beautiful sceneries, intricate decor, refreshing breezes, natural soaps from Indonesia, local granola from Paia, and sweet memories that we will hold dear.

Yelp
If you and your favorite travel partner are traveling WITHOUT your kids (if you have them) and are craving tranquil, tension-melting lodging while you're in Maui, this is it. My wife and I stayed for five nights and loved it. The owners (Dan and Amy) are very friendly and extremely hospitable - we had many great chats with Dan about, well, everything. Breakfast is light (nothing fried or meaty) and healthy, but perfectly satiating and often contains produce from their orchard - just what we expect from a B&B. We stayed in Nalu, which has an amazing view of the ocean from the outdoor shower and the lanai. The pool is great for cooling off in the afternoon. It is located in a residential neighborhood, but you don't feel that once you're on the property. But before you book, just make sure it aligns with your travel style - it's not close to the water (a short drive to beaches near Lahaina and Kanapali), is not the Ritz, and does not have a privacy door for the toilet (so know your travel partner well, in other words). We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Yelp
We arrived in Maui and our first accommodation was the Hyatt Residence. Very nice. Busy, noisy, right on the beach, typical big hotel ambiance. Then we moved to Ho'oilo House. It's like the best day compared to the best night. The house is on a hillside overlooking the channel between Maui and Molokai. Balinese in style, the house is open and airy. Outside there are birds, and toads and lizards and dragonflies dodging in and out of the lush well kept landscape. And it's quiet. Come here if you want to listen to nothing more than the earth. The innkeeper, Dan, works hard to keep this place special. Thanks Dan. We will be back.

Yelp
I absolutely loved Ho'oilo House, even if I still can't pronounce its name. Located midway up a hill you'll be immediately blown away by the view as you drive up the road towards the house. The island mountains are breathtaking. Once at the house you'll find a beautifully built refuge. The owners are friendly and the rooms are as beautiful as all the pictures would have you believe. The B&B offers a great location that is ideal for exploring the entire island. It's only a few minutes away from the touristy Lahaina and all the wonderful restaurants and shopping. There's a beach immediately down the road from the house that is bustling with local flavour. The resorts of Kaanapali are only 15 minutes north. Further away, but still only about 30 minutes is the most beautiful beach in Makena Park - Big Beach. One of the nicest things about the house that was totally unexpected was the availability of beech gear! We ended up going to Big Beach a couple of days in a row and Ho'oilo provided sand mats, towels, water thermoses and even sun hats! It was really great having all of that available. The only very, very slight negative is -- be prepared for a slight lack of privacy. While the outdoor shower is built to hide most of you while affording you a view of the ocean, when others walk around the front lawn and wave at you while you're soaping up -- well, it took a little getting used to. The only thing I really disliked was the toilet in the rooms being open to the rest of the room. Ultimately this place gets about as much of a recommendation as I can ever give. If we ever make it back to Maui we'll stay here again.

Yelp
Upon arriving at Ho'oili House we were in awe at how beautiful the grounds were and the way that the plumarias that kissed the walkway seemed to lead us right to the front door. We arrived later in the evening so there was a note taped to the front door for us. It welcomed us to the house and told us how to find our room. It also stated breakfast hours and informed us that Dan and Amy (the usual caretakers) were off the island so we could expect to be taken care of by Lester and Hal. When we entered the house we immediately fell in love. It was gorgeous; the view, the decor, the smells, just everything. We stayed in the HONU room and it was very spacious and just as beautiful as the rest of the house. From the windows and door of the patio we could see the ocean and the meditation gazebo making for a wonderful view during our stay. Words and pictures do this place very little justice and it is definitely a place that you must see to appreciate. Below I break down the things that I noticed during our stay that might be helpful to those looking to stay here. Parking: As you drive up the hill to this house, there are 2 parking spaces as you come to the top of the hill, and when you enter the long driveway there are another 4 in front of one of the houses that is separate from the Ho'oilo house. You could probably squeeze one or 2 more, making enough room for possibly 6-8 cars. We never had a problem parking though, even when we returned to the house late at night. The House:There are 6 rooms in this house total and each has a unique theme, beautiful view, and full access to the grounds. There are "quiet hours" but I can't remember for the life of me what they were. If you wish to spend time out of your room, the common area of the house has games, books, magazines, and a beautiful seating area to enjoy them in. You may notice, depending on the time of year you visit, that this house shares its space with many other insects and reptiles. We didn't find it to be a problem although there was the occasional new bug bite we found after a good nights rest. During our stay we only saw couples in the rooms and we varied in age from 25- 70 it seemed. The house was pretty quiet most of the time. I don't see why you couldn't bring kids here, however this place likely has less amenities than the larger resorts to keep them entertained. Although, I would say that that is part of its charm. The Room (HONU): The room was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. The room was much more spacious than the pictures appeared and we had enough room to spread out our suitcases at times and put all of our clothing away in the storage space. The A/C was fantastic and kept our room comfortable. The remote for the A/C allowed us to easily adjust the temperature throughout the night if we needed. The blackout shades helped when we wanted to sleep in a little later. The outdoor shower was nice, although the water was quite hot, even on the lowest setting. I enjoyed this as I like the water slightly scalding hot when I shower, but it took a little getting used to for my husband. The water pressure was so so. The room was cleaned everyday, however if you don't want your bed made up or the maid entering the room during the day, just leave a note on the door, or find her in the house before you leave to tell her. I will say that there is no door on the bathroom, and while the toilet is tucked away out of view, the mirrored closet doors do little for privacy if someone is in the bathroom with you. This, again, was in no way a problem for us, but I could see how it maybe concerning to others. One other concern that may arise is that there are no keys to the rooms, meaning that unless you are inside, your room is unlocked while you are away. The doors however do lock from the inside, so you can lock the room when you are sleeping at night. The house is also left unlocked at night and during the day so that people may come and go as they please. Again, this was no problem for us, but I know that not everyone find this as charming as we did. Extra:This house is NOT within walking distance to anything other than the beach down the hill and Uber/Lyft aren't always available. I would definitely suggest a car if you plan on venturing out a lot. The only thing I wish I had done differently was to take a day and simply stay put here. I didn't feel as though I was able to appreciate the grounds enough, but I will definitely return and make up for that. We had an amazing stay here and if time and money allow, I would recommend booking the Zen Package with your room for a little extra love on the patio.

Yelp
There are not enough flattering words in the English language to describe how amazing this place was for us. So much better than staying in a loud, over-crowded tourist trap. Situated higher up the mountain (which made for a great run!!), the views from our room were simply breathtaking! Dan and Amy made for charming and attentive hosts and the complimentary (superb) tea and coffee all day were very nice touches . Everything about this B&B was perfect! From breakfast, pool side, on the front lawn to the outdoor shower in our room! Oh, and when I booked this B&B, I mentioned to Dan that it was our 10th anniversary and that my husband would be home for R&R - Dan arranged complimentary champagne for us on our last night!! What an amazing end to our celebration!! PERFECT!! If we return to Maui, we will not stay anywhere else.

Yelp
My wife and I wanted to find something more personal, unique, and more luxurious than we could find at the large resorts. We decided to spend the first part of our honeymoon at Ho'olio House at the end of September. I can't explain how wonderful the location, the rooms, and the hosts - Dan and Amy - are, and how much we enjoyed our time there. While I could pick any number of things - the views, the comfort of the rooms, the unique outdoor shower ... I would say our favorite thing was the elegant landscaping - out every window, and around every corner, there was something unique, beautiful, and relaxing. Every morning, we walked out of our suite, and looked out over the ponds, down into the yard, and out to the ocean ... and we smiled. We were there during a time when the Kona Winds hit, so it was abnormally warm (mid 90s) and the room A/C kept us very comfortable. The pool was a wonderful afternoon treat ... and we never really saw the other guests, except around breakfast and in passing on our way to dinner. We had a nice afternoon rain shower ... which started while we were taking an outdoor shower ... *sigh* Pros: Beautiful, relaxing scenery. Very helpful and polite hosts. Stunning relaxation. Views, views, views. Nice pool, good breakfast, convenient to Lahaina, Ka'anapali, Ma'alea, and points south. Cons: ... well its not on the beach, which some may consider a negative. But, the closest beach is at the bottom of the hill where there is plentiful parking - and unlike a beach location, its private and quiet.

Yelp
We stayed at the Ho'oilo House in the Kohola room from 1/5-1/14. The aromas of the blooming plants around the grounds greeted us as soon as we arrived. The common area and pool were beautiful spaces to relax, read, swim, play board games, etc., with amazing views! Our room was gorgeous and had a lanai (porch) facing the ocean where we had a spectacular view of sunset every night we were there to see it, views of distant humpback whale activity, a flowering tree right next to our room that was attracting all kinds of pollinator activity, and it was the perfect place to practice yoga. Oh, and the outdoor shower was among the best showers we've experienced! Dan and Amy were wonderful hosts and made fresh breakfast for us every day. The juice was delicious! They were helpful/resourceful with anything we needed and were extremely calm and collected when all of us received the emergency message about an inbound missile to Hawaii. They made sure everyone knew it was going on and then proceeded to call emergency officials to find out more specific information and to see if it was a false alarm or not. Thanks to them, we probably knew it was a false alarm well before many others received that message. We really loved our stay here and appreciated all of the love and special touches they have invested in this place!

Yelp
We had an amazing stay at Ho'oilo House. Situated in the mountains of Maui, this small B&B is perfect for couples. The grounds and the views are stunning. The decor is Bali inspired and beautiful. Rooms were small, but clean and the main family room area is lovely. The hallways are open air and the showers are all outside (but private). Perfect place to stay for the first week of our honeymoon. The breakfast every morning was also delicious--esp. the homemade muffins. My husband and I talked with the B&B owner Dan often and he provided great places to eat on the island. It was also handy that the house provided beach chairs, umbrella's boogie boards etc. Someday we will be back! Thanks for a wonderful stay.

Yelp
Loved this place. It sits up on a hill that overlooks the ocean. The rooms are beautiful and the main house is amazing. A little pricey but it is in Hawaii on Maui near Lahaina. I would definitely stay there if you have the chance.

Yelp
We just came home from our honeymoon after spending 5 nights at this wonderful, romantic place! Amy and Dan are incredibly hospitable and welcoming, and their breakfast is very nutritious and filling. They had a wonderful collection of teas available for their guests 24/7, and the views of the ocean from the pool are INCREDIBLE. The inn is in Lahaina, so we were never far away from places to sightsee or eat, but we felt quite private and secluded, and I haven't seen that many stars in the night sky since the last time I went camping! We stayed in the Wailele room, and quite enjoyed the outdoor shower. I would come back to this place in a heartbeat the next time I'm in Maui, and I would definitely recommend it to couples who are trying to find a quiet place to get away.

Vicki H.

Yelp
Magnificent architecture! Only six beautiful rooms. So peaceful with wonderful views and only three miles from Lahaina. Beautiful furniture and wood from Bali. Definitely a place to relax and enjoy ambiance.

Yelp
This is a gorgeous place to stay if you're looking for a quiet and intimate get-away. My husband and I had a wonderful time, and really enjoyed the decor and the private patio space where we sipped our morning coffee and looked out over the water at the other islands. The staff was very kind and accommodating. And the location was great for exploring other parts of the island, with great restaurants and bars just a short drive (on the ridiculously beautiful highway - worth the cost of upgrading to a convertible!) away. We would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
I would definitely stay here in again! My husband and I stayed here in January 2010, when we were looking for a true vacation full of peace and quiet. Ho'Oilo House definitely fit that bill! The majority of the time we felt we were the only ones at the house (there are 6 rooms total), just what we were looking for. The close is very close to Lahaina, so it wasn't a real trek when we wanted to get a bite to eat. The rooms, inspired by Bali, are wonderful and spacious and the outdoor showers are fun.

Yelp
Just stayed here for part of my honeymoon and loved it. The rooms are beautiful, and the views from the lanai at sunset made for a great backdrop. Really liked the outdoor shower and the continental breakfast and 24-hr tea and coffee were all big pluses as well.

Yelp
Stay here and experience the best B & B on the island. Amazing house and grounds. Dan, Amy and the girls are the best. Breakfast is wonderful and fresh. Last but not least Gentlemen the outdoor showers are liberating!

Yelp
We loved our 3 night stay at Ho'oilo house! This was the start of an 11 day Honeymoon (3 nights in Maui and 8 nights in Kaua'i) and we could not reccommend Ho'oilo House more. If you are looking for a private, quiet, and charming place in Maui, this is the place for you. We are so happy we made the decision to stay here and visit the more populated beaches in Lahaina/Kaanapali/Makena. It was pure delight to return to our B&B in the hills and look out over the ocean from the pool! The house is beautiful, our room lovely with an AMAZING bathroom and outdoor shower. Breakfast was great, coffee tasty, fresh bread, fruit, juice, everything we needed. We saw many rainbows from the House. Loved it here and would happily return! This also seems like a perfect place for a small destination wedding/vow renewal.

Yelp
This is the first time in our many travels that I actually totally unpacked my suitcase & felt so at home. The entire house is stunningly beautiful, our room (Honu room) was exactly that, OUR room in our home, for 11 days anyway. It was quiet, serene, comfortable, all with spectacular views. And the outdoor shower...I miss it still today, so fantastic. Then there is Dan, our gracious host, very informative & available to chat about everything...like recipes :) Mainly because they (Dan & Amy) make fresh bread, jam & muffins along with fresh fruit every day! Having 5 other rooms in the house is nice to meet people from all over the world. It is close to Lahaina & a beach, although we did enjoy the pool, we were the only ones using it...being Canadian, we found it to be the perfect temperature. They have beach chairs, towels & a cooler with ice ready for you to borrow for your entire stay. I am in love with this place, I really did not want to leave.

Yelp
I LOVE this place. So peaceful and beautiful and each room is decorated in an amazing way. You can tell the owners really care about the place and you feel very well taken care of. Such a nice departure from all the big resorts. And the views are amazing.

Yelp
We really liked Ho'oilo House - the house itself is gorgeous, in an airy balinese style, and we loved the huge bathroom with gigantic tub and outdoor shower. We had great massages on our lanai with views of the water, and although they had a full house, we rarely saw the other guests except a little at breakfast (which was also lovely). Pricey, yes... but worth it for a couple of nights, absolutely.

Yelp
Back for another stay of three nights. The finest bed-and-breakfast we have ever stayed at. The ambience is wonderful. Worth every dollar you pay for this wonderful place. Breakfast was awesome. Room accommodations were excellent. The views are stunning. This is part of Maui you cannot skip

Yelp
We both work for hotels so we wanted to stay someplace that would offer us a little more privacy for our honeymoon being that we were traveling over Spring Break. This is a lovely property with an amazing pool and incredible view. We stayed in the Nalu room for three nights which had a wonderful ocean view, great outdoor shower, and a deep soaking tub. I will warn anyone who may be "shy" that there is no door on the toilet area so if that is a concern for you, this would not be the room for you. For the other nights we stayed in the Wailele which did have a separate toilet closet, a very comfortable bed, nice antique tub, and wonderful outdoor shower with a mountain view. While we didn't have ideal weather, they views from the property were amazing and the few days we could enjoy the pool were fantastic. We hardly saw any of the other couples. Breakfast was great with a different freshly baked bread and muffin choice daily. There was fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, coffee, teas, and juices to pick from. There was never a shortage of options. We appreciated Dan's insight on several great places to eat and appreciated the helpfulness. Our standards are high due to our profession and I would not only visit again but would tell anyone considering a trip to look into booking here as well.

Yelp
If you plan a trip to West Maui, your first step should be to secure a room in Ho 'oilo House. The drive up the residential street to its entrance cannot prepare you for the privacy and serenity you will find. This was our first trip to Hawaii; we had come directly from a two-night stay in a seaside cottage in Hana and were under the spell of Hawaii. It seemed that coming to Lahaina might break that spell, but it was kept alive: the mountains behind us, the ocean before us, and the peaceful, aesthetic Ho 'oilo House in between. You will find everything you need here to enjoy the beaches and terrain of West Maui (and the South Maui beaches are not so far away). If you look around you will find ample touring guides and beach paraphernalia for guests' use. Take advantage of Dan's warmth and affability - he is generous with his knowledge of the area, what to see and do. And Amy gave us great recommendations about where to find good food. (By the way, we're from NYC and were pretty surprised to find in many Hawaiian restaurant $40 entrees that would cost $25 here - be prepared.) That said, the food we had was well-prepared and delicious.
