Came here on a Sunday afternoon to celebrate my sister's and boyfriend's birthday weekend. While seafood boils were their main attraction, I, not being a seafood eater found alternatives on the menu.
I started with the mozzarella sticks, which, though slightly narrow, were served hot with a satisfying cheese pull and a crispy exterior that was truly enjoyable. To accompany my meal, I chose the rum punch from their cocktail menu; At just $10, it was a steal. I'm happy it was strong and not watered down. I tried my man's Hennessy colada, which tasted great, but was questionable if it was Henny in it, and not another alternative cognac.
For my main course, I chose the breaded Cajun chicken wing basket paired with Cajun seasoned fries, I was thoroughly impressed. The wings were exceptionally big, crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor, making them some of the best I've ever had. The seasoned fries complemented the wings perfectly, adding an extra kick to the meal.
Our waitress, Myra, enhanced our dining experience with her attentive and friendly service. She provided valuable suggestions, helping my sister select a combo that offered better value. Her thoughtful gesture of bringing out birthday cheesecakes with candles for both my sister and boyfriend added a special touch. While the cheesecake's taste was unconventional and didn't quite hit the mark, the complimentary dessert was appreciated.
Despite not indulging in the seafood offerings, I found Hook & Reel to be a delightful dining spot. The quality of the wings and drinks alone makes it a place I'd gladly revisit.
