I recently dined at this seafood restaurant and whilst the food was excellent, the service was thoroughly disappointing. Service Issues: Upon arriving without a booking, the hostess seemed uncertain whether she could seat us, stating she needed to check with her manager first—hardly a welcoming start, particularly as the restaurant was only half full at the time. We then waited over 50 minutes for our food, an unacceptably long wait that marred the entire experience. It’s worth noting the restaurant remained at roughly 50% capacity throughout our visit, so the poor service cannot be attributed to being overwhelmed. Management Concerns: Most concerning was the owner’s lack of attention to service. When I requested the bill, he was busy chatting away with guests at another table about irrelevant matters, seemingly oblivious to customers needing assistance. The Food: Credit where it’s due—the kitchen delivered outstanding dishes. I had the pinciana steak whilst my companion enjoyed noodles with pork and seafood. Both were beautifully prepared with excellent flavours. Value for Money: However, the prices felt steep given the modest portions and poor service. The food quality alone doesn’t justify the premium pricing. Final Verdict: Whilst the culinary team clearly has talent, the combination of poor service, inattentive management, and overpricing significantly undermines the experience. Until these fundamental issues are addressed, I cannot recommend this establishment despite the quality of the food.

Returned to Hooked after a visit 2 years ago and heard it is under new ownership. Food is still good however the place was empty, we had two kids no older than 17 who were running the service they were totally unprofessional singing messing around behind the counter and shouting in the back. The young guy had long hair not tied up and it was falling into our food.It was like being in a kindergarten. Clearly poor management and an inability to recruit professional staff. What was once a great restaurant has descended into an expensive disappointment. I resent paying a service charge for such horrendous service. I expect your price point should cover your staff costs not rinsing customers to pay your wage bill! The staff were also moaning about the owner pressuring them to take at least £500 a night! Totally inappropriate but they are kids running the place. Avoid this overpriced place. My advice to hooked us ..you won’t hook many customers going forward unless you start to run your business in a professional manner.

My partner and I had a lovely early evening meal. We had some oysters and had the Halibut and Monkfish. The meals were perfect and the service amazing. They advised best wines to pair with our meals (and even recommended a less expensive wine!)

Gorgeous little place. Food amazing and the service was outstanding. The guy who we presume is the owner was friendly and couldn’t do enough to make sure we were well looked after, especially trying oysters for the first time, and the hubby making a bit of a mess with his prawns. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Will definitely visit again when we are over this way.

What a lovely place. Everything we had was cooked to perfection, you want to lick the plate clean. Very friendly staff and a very nice atmosphere. Must see. Must go. Must enjoy.

We had a delicious meal here last night. We were served by a gregarious and fun Italian gentleman. Unfortunately couldn't recall his name however he provided a superb wine recommendation and talked us through his family story of making the Tiramisu they serve. The monkfish sold out but we can recommend the octopus carpaccio, the halibut and the tiramisu we think is a must ! Highly recommend for a light meal. Great to take your parents too !

We had an absolutely spectacular meal at Hooked this evening, and brought our 1 year old with us. Leigha was so incredibly attentive and kind, and the food was incredible - every dish we had was amazing, thank you so much for such a memorable meal!

Had a really lovely dinner here yesterday as part of a birthday celebration. The atmosphere was cosy, the staff were incredibly attentive. The fish was perfectly cooked. I would recommend Hooked!

Yelp
The food was delicious with excellent service and a cozy ambiance. Ate here twice while visiting the Lake District.

Yelp
Michael is a doting host with the most and he really made it for us (as well as the fabulous fish of course!) Make sure you book in advance as we noticed most walk-ins are declined in favour of those who pre-booked. The fish really is sublime and the wine pairings recommended we're bang-on! There's also quite the gin menu on display! The only chink in the armour (if even that) was the lack of bread to soak up the delicious sauces... he doesn't provide bread! Try not to lick the plate clean, I dare you!

Yelp
I'd hop crags and rivers for the Rivaner Riesling from Luxembourg alone. However, it was hearing about the lovingly paired plates explained by the proprietor, who was lovely; personable and gushingly enthusiastic about the food, that got me salivating before seeing a single piece of seafood. But more about our waiter, the owner; even though I'm at the table at a restaurant, I always want the sale. Tell me about the provenance of what I'm about to attempt not to wolf down in 30 seconds. As if it doesn't last long on the plate the story will stay with me and his did, along with the mouthwatering memories of this place. I had the bream and it was brought brimming with pride, placed elegantly in front of me, precisely perfectly prepped. From the hearing that bream's story; being hooked in the North Sea by an independent fisherman, to how it was lovingly locally filleted with finesse and dressed by the chef and shown just enough flame to crisp it's once scaly skin, keeping it's milky flesh 1% opalescent and full of flavour, it sang with delicate pan Asian flavours. My fellow diners enjoyed robust, local fare like Bury black pudding, sweet with smoked pancetta and Razor clams. Once again, razor sharp precise timing to cook seafood like this is required and for such a busy floor. That claims credit, even if just for the clams. Now one thing. They wont cram you in like sardines. BOOK AHEAD! There's something special about this place. It's simple, warm and elegant as is the food and if the board outside says 'FULL', which they usually are, it's worth the wait. You'll feel fabulous when you're sitting inside when you're just as full and you'll too be Hooked as the sign outside guarantees.

Yelp
Fresh seafood dishes but overpriced. We were visiting Windemere area and we found Hooked Seafood restaurant to be inviting. We booked ahead and we were glad we did as they were completely full all weekend. During our dinner, we were tended well and quickly. Though the seafood was fresh, it was nothing special. It was fresh steamed fish with bones (nott fillet) drenched in lemon juice and butter. It also came along with few piecess of steamed baby carrots and snap pea. Had I known it would be ordinary dish, I would have saved my £££ for the real deal. The decor is another story. It was a plain white room with some photographs that up for sale on the wall. The furniture such as the tables and chairs were mediocre and uninteresting. Overall, I would rather go elsewhere.

Yelp
Excellent food. All fish and all perfectly prepared. Atmosphere was basic. Nothing special. Would definitely recommend it however.

Yelp
Words cannot describe ... easily the best fish ever. Book in advance and it is an ABSOLUTELY MUST VISIT at Lake District.

Yelp
Great place. We loved it, starting with the window sign warning tourists "We don't serve fish and chips." Bookings only but owner was very nice about confirming. Limited menu -- four main courses the night we were there. Four different fish fixed in four quite different ways. My wife had sea bream and I had sea bass. My sea bass came with a lot of vegetables cooked over the top of it. It was very nice. We shared an interesting smoked and poached haddock salad. We were stuffed but shared a rather light dessert. Nice wine list a huge selection of gins, which seems to be typical in the Lake District. Not many whiskeys, and 2 of the 3 were listed on the dessert menu rather than the drinks menu. But I was happy to see Glen Morangie there. Total tab for our meals plus shared salad and shared dessert and 4 drinks was 70 pounds, or less than $100 American, which was VERY reasonable for a nice meal. Not sure where the person who said it was over-priced is used to eating. Highly recommended, but not for fish and chips -- you would probably be physically ejected if you ordered those.

Yelp
What a great place! Expect in this restaurant only fish. And this on a high level. It's something for the eyes as well. Very friendly staff. The price for the food might be a little bit higher but it's really worth it.
