We stayed at Hoover House for 2 nights. The rooms were immaculate. The staff are informative and very helpful, especially Wendy with her amazing historical knowledge. The Cafe food was yummy. The Community and Volunteers should be commended on the wonderful work they have done in preserving Gwalia's history. Would highly recommend visiting this amazing Museum

This is very much a 'destination' property; the house itself is your reason for going. Built at the turn of last century, the house has been restored to very good, original, condition and yet has modern amenities. The huge rooms are comfortable, clean and well-equipped, and the arrangements for breakfast are more than adequate. It feels a little strange staying in a property that is part museum, and open to the public for five hours during the day, but the rooms remain private at those times. The staff were quiet, polite and efficient. Be aware that there is a mine operating 24/7 that begins literally at the front fence of the property; it does not, however, intrude unduly on the peace and quiet. As an additional bonus, there is a mining museum onsite and an entire ghost town to explore a short walk from the house. We enjoyed it very much, and it was a sensible waypoint en route to the must -see Gormley exhibit at Lake Ballard.

This is an historic residence built by an ex president of the United states who spent time managing Sons of Gwalia gold mine in the 1930s. What a fabulous place to stay - real luxury at affordable prices. Super clean and super luxurious. I loved every minute of my stay here and the staff are fabulous. I highly recommend this place to business people and tourists alike.

Another wonderful stay at the amazing Hoover House. Such a unique location, so love the fact we get to stay in a museum! I was very disappointed the museum shop was gone. I really hope the Shire of Leonora executive realise what a gem they have here, continue to maintain it and look after their staff who really are a credit to them.

Visited as part of the museum at Gwalia. Didn't actually stay, so I can't comment on the rooms, although pictures look quite pleasant. Had a late lunch/snack, being quite a nice toasted sandwich and coffee, at a reasonable price. Service was good. Checked out a bit of the history, and if you catch up with Wendy, the curator, she is a wealth of knowledge. Herbert Hoover, 31st President of the US actually commissioned the building for himself as mine manager at Gwalia, but never actually lived in it. We were transfixed by the museum with all the history surrounding the pit and transformation into what it is today. There is a fair bit to see, more so the museum area and buildings, so if it piques your interest, like mine, you'll lose 4 hrs or so, without a worry.

Magic place to stay for a few nights with exceptionally comfortable rooms and lots of history in Gwalia to see and learn about. The only downside was the very basic self serve breakfast provided could be improved considerably. Possibly fresh fruit, porridge could be provided in addition

The whole experience was great, we learnt so much about the house, the mine, the museum and the history of Leonora. Wendy is so helpful and has endless knowledge which she so generously shares. |The house is amazing and so beautifully kept by the friendly girls that work there; and what a great idea to run a cafe too.|We’ll be telling all our friends and family of this hidden gem of a town!
