There are no enough stars to express how wonderful our stay was at Hope & Glory. The owners, Peggy & Dudley are fantastic - they are the ultimate in hospitality. The Chef is fabulous and we highly recommend having at least one dinner at the Colonade. The food is delicious; the preparation divine. Everything from the rooms to the homemade breakfasts to the surrounding environs was fabulous. We highly recommend at least a weekend at Hope & Glory

The Hope and Glory Inn is a charming restored school house, with current amenities for a comfortable stay. The Colonnade Restaurant offers expertly prepared dishes with artfully combined flavors. The most impressive part of my stay was the personalized service. The chef and hostess were warm and attentive. They genuinely wanted me to have an exceptional experience, and I did.

This magnificent 19th century house and compound offer a splendid getaway from the daily grind. We were upgraded to one of seven cottages, which was a delightful little house off the beaten path. Everything about the accommodations was wonderful, beginning with the hostess Heather and ending with a very tasty breakfast each morning -- brought to our door by the proprietor. It tells you volumes that they don't need much marketing since most of their bookings are from repeat customers. Including us.

We had the BEST time on our long weekend trip to the Northern Neck and staying at the Hope and Glory Inn. The staff was top-notch and the accommodations were lovely! Everything from the pool to breakfast to the town to the comfy beds were wonderful! We felt right at home the moment we arrived. We had a peaceful stay with lots of privacy. It's perfect for a couple's getaway or a special celebration. I highly recommend booking a stay at the H&GI. You will not be disappointed!

The Hope and Glory was absolutely beautiful and a highlight of our trip down to VA. The grounds and rooms were beautiful and meticulously maintained. We loved the pool and outdoor shower and bathtub! The oysters were delicious and so fresh. Honestly this place is a treasure. The owners have put so much effort and love into making your stay enjoyable. I highly recommend it!

We arrived late at night after a hellish journey to the beautiful oasis that is the Hope and Glory Inn. The wonderful Heather was waiting to help us with check in, and in the morning, we met Peggy and Dudley at breakfast. Such hospitality from these fantastic hosts! The historic buildings, the gentle burbling of the fountain in the courtyard surrounded by gardens, the outdoor shower, the bikes to borrow… every detail has been thought through and the folks running this place are as friendly as can be. If you’re looking for a soft landing in a beautiful part of the world, don’t hesitate! Book a room at the Hope and Glory.

We visited Hope and Glory in on a whim. We wanted to visit the Urbana Oyster Festival and decided to make a weekend of our trip to the area. The Hope and Glory Inn is a great property. It is conveniently located in a lovely small town or Irvington. The proprietors were extremely friendly and welcoming. Everything was top notch. I always remind my friends that a B&B 5 Star is a little different that a hotel 5 Star. Hotels have been purpose designed for a guests stay. An B&B usually started life as a different type of property and is converted to apartments. As such there are always a few quirks with B&Bs. We really loved our stay in the Cottage. It was a very comfortable apartment. There is a pool available on the property and even a unique private outdoor bathtub! The grounds and gardens were fun to meander around. There was ample sitting space outside to enjoy the fall weather. Right across the street was a farmers market which we visited during our stay. Additionally the Inn is located conveniently near a couple little shops and a few local eateries. Each morning the Inn Keepers brought a nice breakfast to our door. The food was very tasty and just the right amount to tie us over until lunch. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the dinner service at the Inn. It is a top notch dining experience. The ingredients were largely local farm to table and dinner was one of the best we have had. The chef visited our table to say hello and was kind enough to tell us about the ingredients and the history of the property. It was a lovely experience. I have to shout out to Heather who was not only our server and bartender but also helped us with some local info. She is a pro with a great attitude and a super friendly way about her. The Inn Keepers Peggy and Dudley treated us warmly and we felt like return visitors despite this being our first visit. They have done a wonderful job curating a great experience. We plan to visit again soon.

It seems that fine customer service and personal touches for guests are a thing of the past. Hope and Glory is quaint, charming, decadent, and Peggy, Heather and Dudley give you attention to detail service with love and great care! Our weekend trip for my husband’s 50th birthday has been nothing short of perfection! For a wonderful culinary experience eat at The Colonnade! You will thank me!

Yelp
This place is so overpriced, its not funny. $15 for a flight of wine - 4 very small plastic cups barely filled to the half-way point. $34 for a dozen oysters that were small and tasteless. To top it off, one of my party ordered a bottle of wine to go, the cost of which was added to the total bill thereby forcing us to tip on a goods purchase rather than the service. As for the service, I found it extremely distasteful that the owner thought it appropriate to actually sit at our table while he described the wines and the oysters before we ordered; and then did so again when trying to sell us their "dessert" oyster which also is criminally overpriced. The whole experience was extremely off-putting

Yelp
Beautiful weather in mid October made for a wonderful weekend getaway for our 20th wedding anniversary..  Peggy warmly greeted and checked us in followed by a property tour. The building was quaint with each room tastefully decorated with cool and funny schoolhouse memoirs.  Well kept grounds included a pool, vegetable garden, vines and bicycles, with close proximity to local restaurants and shops.  We enjoyed the balcony for Schoolroom #4 every opportunity we had. The claw tub bath/shower provided a functional look into the past while the outdoor bath  provided a unique treat of showering under the stars. We ordered the wine and flowers package and were delightfully happy to see that the flowers were beautifully arranged in a vase in our room.  And the wine chilled upon arrival just begging to be enjoyed. Our gourmet breakfast was sparse but tasty with fresh squeezed OJ.  And dinner hosted by Chef Meseret was exquisite dining at its best.  She loves cooking and it's reflected in her dishes. .. every item was fresh and flavorful with the generous crab cake entree a show stopper.  It was all crab.. no fillers, just a bit of egg to hold it together. We had an enjoyable weekend and hope to explore the area more on another visit.

Yelp
We had an absolutely magical stay at the Hope and Glory Inn for our anniversary a few weekends ago. This is a perfect place for a weekend get away or for a longer stay! The ambiance here is charming, and Peggy and Dudley (owners) are incredibly friendly and accommodating. I was able to schedule a call in advance to plan some fun activities for my husband and I, and the whole staff made sure that we were well cared for. I was particularly impressed with their consideration for my lactose intolerance while cooking the delicious breakfast and our several course dinner. Everything that we ate at the Inn was scrumptious and gourmet. My personal favorite meal was our romantic dinner that included a first course option of oysters or scallops, a dreamy potato soup, crab cakes with various tasty sides, and a white chocolate mousse that my husband is still dreaming about. The chef was kind enough to make me a raspberry coulis for dessert to accommodate for my lactose intolerance. The staff paired our meal with the perfect bottle of wine, and we had the delightful experience of cocktails from Detention after our meal (and on a few other occasions during our stay!) The pool in the lush backyard garden was a great place to kick back and relax after walking around town and exploring all the shops, art installations, and the Steamboat Era Museum. We also thoroughly enjoyed eating our delicious breakfasts out on the back patio under the black and white striped umbrellas. Finally, I have to mention our boat cruise with Captain Dudley! We shared a nice bottle of wine and a bit of charcuterie while seeing all the gorgeous homes and wildlife native to the area. It was a wonderful way to spend some time during the weekend. Our room was on the third floor and had so much space and a lot of adorable touches that made it feel like home. We are looking forward to visiting again soon and bringing friends to join us!

Yelp
I just ended a five night stay at Hope & Glory and WOW was it amazing. Peggy and Dudley, the owners, as well as Meseret, the manager, REALLY make you feel at home. I had some special accommodations that I needed with some dietary needs and they helped me so much it was better than if I were at home! The property is beautiful. It is very well-kept, clean, and all of the staff is incredibly friendly. You were always greeted with a smile and a "what can I do to make this stay better for you?" attitude. I stayed in cottage five. It is a two-story cottage that is super cute and cozy. It is private and extremely comfortable. The king size bed is super nice, and all of the other amenities of the cottage will make you feel incredibly comfortable. My friends that I were with eight breakfast every morning and always talked about how amazing it was. On my final morning there, I was able to enjoy one of the breakfast meals as well. It was the French toast foster of some kind with a raspberry Jam and bacon. Absolutely delicious! I will undoubtedly be back again and I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone!

B A.

Yelp
Highly recommend. Peggy and Dudley were delightfully accommodating. The entire property offered us a quiet and quaint getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. We enjoyed spending time in the gardens, by the pool, and jumping aboard the "Tue Love" for an evening tour around the river. We also enjoyed a delicious and locally sourced breakfast on our patio each morning, compliments of Chef Meseret! Irvington offers many dining options however, no need to leave The Hope and Glory - best pre-fixed dining experience by far. Kudos to Heather, who also went above and beyond to make us feel at home. We will be back again and again.

Kelly G.

Yelp
What a gem! The owners and staff couldn't have been more accommodating or welcoming!!! The breakfasts were delicious and the Inn is too cute for words!!!

Mandy J.

Yelp
What excellent service! They opened their patio area especially for us when we showed up on a Tuesday at 3:30. All the other restaurants in Irvington were closed in between lunch and dinner. We would highly recommend and look forward to coming back many times.

Karen C.

Yelp
If you are looking for romantic weekend get away or just a girls trip, the Hope and Glory Inn is the perfect place to stay. From the moment we clicked submit for the reservation we were treated like family. The owners Peggy and Dudley, the and their staff are simply put....amazing. The property is an historic school house where they aptly named the bar -- Detention and the interior patio Hooky. They even had old composition notebooks for guests to write reasons why they were in "Detention." It is attention to details like this that make this place someplace you never want to leave. We cannot say enough about Heather. She was warm and welcoming and was always there to take care of all our needs. She took us on a tour of the grounds which is delightful, then provided us with the key to our private cottage. The cottage we stayed in was beautifully decorated with all the amenities you need including a romantic gas fireplace. They deliver breakfast to your door each morning with details of what Chef has created. We made reservations at the restaurant, Colonnade which serves a Prix Fixe menu that rivals 5 star restaurants. The meal prepared by Chef Crockett was truly a sumptuous experience. The exquisite table service including wine pairings was truly a treat. We have eaten at many fine dining establishments in New York City, and this experience is as good as it gets. We could go on and on about our wonderful experience at the Hope & Glory, but you just need to experience it for yourself. I promise you won't be disappointed. I know we will be back.

Yelp
My husband took me on a quick getaway to Irvington VA and the Hope and Glory Inn for my 60th Birthday! Wow!!! What a lovely little town and beautiful Inn. Our weekend was met by the sweetest young lady, Heather! She checked us in and got us settled into our cottage. What an asset they have in her. From the beauty and quaint cottage our every need was met promptly and cheerfully. Highly recommend not only this Inn but their dining options as well. Great wine and oysters at the Dog and Bone out front to the Colonnade's intimate dining experience paired with excellent wine and chef prepared delights! Not to be missed!!!

McKenzie P.

Yelp
Love the Hope and Glory Inn! Was a recommendation when we were at the Dog and the Oyster! It's a bed and breakfast, and it use to be a school so traveling with a bunch of teachers this was the best suggestion! They have an adorable bar and journals where you can write how you ended up in detention! I hope to visit again soon! This is definitely a must see in the area!

Elizabeth K.

Yelp
We are regulars at The Hope and Glory Inn. What keeps us coming back? Nothing. No really. "What are you planning on doing during your stay?" Nothing. It's a concept so far removed from my daily life that it ends up being the most relaxing vacation I take all year. I return to the "real world" feeling rejuvenated and relaxed. The hosts, Peggy and Dudley, are lovely. They make you feel welcomed at every opportunity without seeming overbearing. It's more of a boutique hotel than bed and breakfast, offering rooms, cottages and tents (which are secluded, charming little buildings located on the vineyard property across from the inn). And there are lots of things to do in the area if you chose to do them. Afternoon River cruises and charming village shopping and antique shopping amongst the highlights. Great place to forget how to drive a car and walk or borrow a bicycle from the inn to get your exploring done. Hope and Glory is on my list of favorites, hope you get the chance to visit. And I forgot to mention the vintage outdoor shower and bath...

Brian S.

Yelp
My wife and I spent our 1st anniversary here and were extremely pleased! It was so relaxing; the perfect place to get away. They pay attention to every detail and everybody is so nice. The food is fantastic, the Inn is beautiful and the vineyard is very nice. I'd recommend heading out on the faded glory and stopping over to the dog and oyster for a wine tasting and lunch.

Woody W.

Yelp
We absolutely LOVED the Hope and Glory Inn! With the help of the staff and owners Peggy & Dudley I was able to propose to my now fiance in the outdoor garden shower, under candle lights. Meseret was unbelievably helpful in setting up the surprise. We will visit this magical place on our anniversary or possibly even get married there. If you have any doubts about visiting this wonderful place don't, book a trip now!

Niklas K.

Yelp
Update to my previous review: We came back last weekend to get married and we could not be more happy. The owners Peggy and Dudley and their staff did everything in their power to make this a great event for us, and they succeeded. This place is the best. If I could have given more stars, I would have.

James B.

Yelp
Adorable & unique boutique hotel located in a historic school house. Beautifully decorated, hopelessly romantic, interesting & whimsical touches constantly catch your eye. The owners are warm & welcoming, and they thought of every detail to make your stay enjoyable. Breakfast was simply wonderful. Irvington is walkable, or explore further with Inn provided bikes. Pause to shop & dine in nearby Kilmarnock or White Stone. While visiting be sure to enjoy Virginia's Chesapeake bounty, the oysters & crabs are among the best in the world. Near all that the Virginia low country has to offer, The Hope & Glory Inn is perfect for that special occasion or country getaway.

Jason F.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed at the Hope and Glory this weekend, celebrating our 15 year anniversary. The host and hostess where gracious, warm and catered to all of our needs. A true gem to our stay were all the delicious meals prepared by the head chef and her daughter. We could not have asked for a better weekend getaway, hospitality and fine dining. We look forward to returning to the Hope and Glory soon!

Dana D.

Yelp
This was a very special place where we celebrated our anniversary in June 2020. We highly recommend the cottage which was cozy and comfortable. A breakfast box was delivered to our room each morning. We enjoyed the bikes and the pool. Peggy and Dudley were the perfect host and made sure everything was perfect. Chef Meseret approached us several times during our visit and was extremely interested in giving us an enjoyable dining experience. The meal was one of the best we have ever had! Truly a gem in a lovely town. We hope to come back.

Adri T.

Yelp
Whimsical, magical, amazing! If you ever get a chance to head to Irvington, VA - make sure you stay at the Hope and Glory Inn. This B&B features "school-house" rooms, cottages, and "tents". Each unit is supremely decorated in a whimsically romantic cottage style that is sure to welcome! We visited for our anniversary and found the inn blissfully charming. Vintage bike rides, boat tours, long walks, and dinner at the Trick Dog Cafe were just a few of the highlights of this adventure! We had breakfast in the large dining room one morning, and out on the patio the next day. Meals were always nicely prepared and wonderfully tasty! We stayed in Cottage #4, and can't wait to go back and try out another unit! Be sure and venture into town and visit the shoppe for wine and cheese to take a picnic to the beach and enjoy the sunset!

Ellen D.

Yelp
The Hope & Glory Inn is a beautiful B&B in a charming little whimsical town. In addition to rooms in the Inn, they also have private cottages & "tents". I stayed in tent # 10 with a group of 4 others girls for a bachelorette party. The tents are back behind White Fences Vineyard down a winding road off the main strip of shops. The "tents" are private houses. Our tent had a full kitchen, living room, large screened in porch, 4 bdrms, & 3 bathrooms. The tent, the inn, Trick Dog Cafe, the Local, Detention (small bar inside the Inn) & the whole town itself is unbelievably charming. We loved it all! Peggy, the owner, was very accommodating & couldn't have been more friendly. Can't wait to come back!

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Such a great place! I attended a work function at the Inn this week and was really impressed...except for the fact that my cell didn't get reception, but on vacation that would be great! The owners were so friendly, the accommodations were incredibly quaint and the food was amazing! The first night we met in detention for a drink, took a boat ride and then enjoyed a delicious crab cake dinner at the Inn. The second day the breakfast was incredible - hot tea, egg and spinach souffle, cherry smoked bacon, raspberry muffin, fruit and herb grits...so good! The bbq lunch was great too! We enjoyed a cocktail reception at their vineyard down the road - such a great place too! I stayed in cottage #3 (a 2 bedroom) with a co-worker and really enjoyed it! Would love to come back for a weekend getaway and enjoy a massage too!

Karen L.

Yelp
Attended a family wedding at The Hope and Glory Inn. The wedding party rented the Inn. We all had a blast. The arrangement of the cottages and house and gardens was perfect for the wedding. The Innkeepers were fantastic catering to the needs of everyone. The crab cakes were scrumptious! Lavender lemonade is my new favorite, a must try here. Really a great get away. Took The Faded Glory boat ride and made special memories with family and friends.

Amy P.

Yelp
Peggy, Dudley, and Meserat are the absolute nicest and most accommodating. I traveled down here with a large group and they had everything taken care of on a last minute notice. If we needed to change something or had a special request, they happily accommodated us. Their property is beautiful and quaint. The rooms are elegant, and comfortable. The entire property is a very quiet, nice place to relax. And the back patio/yard is like a secret garden with the most relaxing outdoor shower. I highly recommend staying here, and in fact will only stay here for future visits.

Terry D.

Yelp
My Wife and I stayed there this past weekend and loved it. Very friendly staff and the Owners are awesome. Clean, quiet and what a great old building. Breakfast was really good. We really liked the surrounding area. Shopping in Irvington and Kilmarnock and all the really good Restaurants in the area are so close to the Inn. We hope to go back soon and enjoy some of the other pleasures the Inn has to offer that we did not take advantage of this time.

Ok M.

Yelp
Me and my wife booked one night at the Hope and Glory Inn and was surprised about the high quality experience. The owners were very warm and service minded. We had an awesome meal and stayed in one of the cottages. We will definitely make an other stay in the near future.

Michael A.

Yelp
One of the best dinning experiences in a long time. Trust the chef with pairings and food and just sit back and enjoy a culinary ride.

Mickey C.

Yelp
The week before Thanksgiving, I suggested to my wife that we go the the Hope and Glory! Many style points for that! We stayed in a cabin, lolled and read in front of the fireplace, played with our dogs, and met some really interesting people at the delicious breakfasts every morning: pancakes, souffle's, and waffles with amazing flourishes! Peggy and Dudley have decorated the Inn and the gardens to the nines. Don't miss the ballerina. Or, my favorite, the outdoor shower. Standing under a stream of hot water in 40 degree temps is an experience not to be missed. The Pattesons have created an oasis of solitude. The perfect antidote to the frenetic pace of life around the Capital Beltway. And the food...the food, aaahhh. A weekend or a few days at the Hope & Glory is worth thousands of dollars of therapy!!! Thank you H & G

Merryl B.

Yelp
The Hope and Glory Inn is spectacular in every way. Go as soon as you can. From the lovely cottages to the exquisite food of chef Meseret Crockett, this is an incredible experience. The Inn's owners are warm and so willing to meet your every need. Beautiful location near the Rappahanock and the Dog and Oyster Vineyard is not to be missed. You are going to move this Inn!

Megan G.

Yelp
What a special place run by incredible people. We stayed at the Hope & Glory over New Years. They set us up in one of the cottages that had a queen bed (with the most comfortable sheets if slept on in a long time), a cozy living room with a gas fireplace and its own bathroom (the shower had excellent water pressure). Truth is, I never seek out bed & breakfasts for feeling like I'm on someone else's schedule. Hope & Glory is the exception, they couldn't be more accommodating. (There's a chance I slept through breakfast on New Year's Day, oops. Of course, I still had breakfast prepared for me when I decided to join the land of the living) The food was incredible and the wine was delicious (they own the vineyard down the road as well). They have a spa on location too! What makes Hope & Glory so special is that no detail is overlooked. They go beyond the standard and reach for excellence, and they succeed. If you weren't planning a get away, start now and go to the Hope & Glory. You won't be disappointed.

Joseph C.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed at the Hope and Glory Inn for our 14th Anniversary and had an incredible weekend. Peggy and Duddley are wonderful hosts and the staff is friendly and will go out o their way to make you comfortable. The in-house bar...called Detention...has composition notebooks full of guest commentary on why they're in "Detention" and the comments range from heartfelt to hysterical to naughty. The outdoor shower, free bike rides, wonderful rooms and food, local winery, and quaint town all added up to the perfect weekend. We will be back.

Carrie A.

Yelp
We booked the dining hall for our anniversary dinner. It was truly refreshing that EVERYTHING had a personal touch. It's a quaint Victorian former school house. Upon entering from the front gate, you pass a lovely garden and enter a "home." There is a sitting area to get comfortable in, should you choose to. The atmosphere is calm and clean. Once you pass towards the back, Chef Meseret greats and seats you and does everything. I applaud the fact that there is seating for 10-18 people. The other patrons were couples as we were. I appreciate there was soft music in the background and you could easily converse without noise from anywhere. It was truly a pleasure to not see people on their cell phones or yacking at ridiculous decibels competing with music and noise. It was a special 4 course meal that you did not gobble with the thought of "get them in and out" - this was calm. This was fine dining unlike a chain "fine dining" selling you appetizers and alcoholic drinks and rushing you to get in and out. If you like gulping your food or having choice, this is NOT for you. If you like noise this is not for you. If you don't like conversation, this is not for you. If you like a simplistic meal prepared fresh with the personal touch, this is what you want and hope for. That said, if there is something you want and don't get, just ask. I requested coffee with desert when it became apparent it was not being offered - not a big deal. I asked for it and I received. We were there from 6:30-9:30 and you do NOT get a bill at the table but rather when you walk up front, you square up there - you can leave at your leisure. It's a sophisticated process with charm. As for pricing, you can spend about the same elsewhere by the time you add up every meal (but get mass produced food with noise). Here, you call and know the menu for that evening. Well done!

Paul K.

Yelp
My wife and I celebrated New Year's at Hope & Glory. What a first class wonderful experience! Really first class and very comfortable. The staff, from the youngest to the most experienced, are all very friendly, helpful and interesting. Peg & Dudley are very gracious hosts! The other guests were a wonderful and interesting mix of people. We are planning to see some of them again. New Year's eve was fantastic, followed by a very nice New Year's Day brunch. Meseret is a great and very friendly chef. Every aspect of the experience was wonderful. We hope to celebrate many more New Year's celebrations at Hope & Glory!!

Annette M.

Yelp
All the great reviews were accurate and yet I was still surprised and delighted. We stayed in Cottage #4 and loved meandering down the brick pathway through the gardens to and from it. We thoroughly enjoyed the wine-paired dinner at the inn and both thought it may have been one of the best dinners we have ever experienced. The breakfasts served on the patio were equally delicious and the atmosphere was relaxed and charming. The bikes, vineyard, boat ride all added fun interest and yet the real key ingredients are the owners who are gracious, kind, and lovely. I cannot wait to go again. A winter weekend of simply a cottage and the delicious food sounds perfect....with maybe some delicious port to be enjoyed in the inn.

Alexandra L.

Yelp
By far the best B&B I've ever stayed at! The atmosphere is cozy, relaxing and there is so much detail in every aspect of The Hope & Glory. The food is amazing and the staff is extremely catering and kind. The perfect place for a weekend getaway, I highly recommend!

B D.

Yelp
Oh my goodness where do we begin. We just returned from a short visit to the Hope & Glory for the 4th of July weekend. Firstly, they accept dogs woohoo!! Very accommodating even the Vineyard which is under the same ownership is puppy friendly. Peggy's son, who runs the vineyard, even has rescue "vineyard pups" What an incredible concept to save dogs, have them "work" :oP the vines and provide amusement for the patrons. The wine is EXCEPTIONAL and I do not like VA wines ( I know, I know) but its true. Their rose is heavenly and so perfect with the warm weather. The owners son was greeting guests with the old man golden retriever, so cute! But the food... holy smokes the food. I didn't catch who the caterers were but by far the BEST BESSSSST fried green tomatoes I have ever had! Fried oysters were perfection and the setting was beyond beautiful. Peggy had mentioned that she is trying to get more vineyards to participate in saving puppy lives to work the grapes. What a fabulous idea. The Inn itself is absolutely amazing, straight from the pages of Victoria magazine. The cottages where we stayed are adorably set in a magical garden (think adult Alice in Wonderland). Even though they are close, and some guests had children, its VERY private. The courtyard is gorgeous, sadly we weren't able to participate in breakfast thanks to Nates Trick Dog LOL But I'm imaging its fab. I think a previous Yelper said its the nothingness that keeps bringing them back and I would have to agree. This place is ZEN. My husband and I both commented repeatedly on just how relaxed we were the whole stay. Sleeping thru the night and not feeling rushed, oh what a lovely place. Even though we were unable to eat breakfast we did enjoy their dinner. Its small, service only 18 tables, and the table is yours for the night. The dining hall is located next to their lounge which is so super cute. Great selection of wines and cocktails. The dinner consisted of oysters and crab cake accompanied by farm fresh local veggies. My husband and I have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the state, L'auberge Chez Francois, Inn at Little Washington etc and this dinner was on par!!! We were fortunate to meet the Chef Betty who could not have been any cuter. Her spoon bread is magical. Needless to say the Inn itself and the food and drink mean nothing if the hosts & staff are not exceptional. The owners, Peggy and Dudley, are two of the nicest people I have ever EVER met. Peggy is the consummate hostess always keeping a step ahead of what you need. I honestly felt like I was at home with her. She's so warm and generous and just a pleasure to be around. Its so rare these days to meet someone who you truly know at first encounter is a selfless in every action & thought. The staff are just as fab as the owners. Sweet Mereset (spelling) is like a big sister, her knowledge of wine is incredible, her gentle manners are calming and shes just plain nice!!!! Bashir (spelling) who was our general all around help you with what you need guy is such an amazing young man!! So smart and polite, engaging and always with a smile. I could go on and on but please PLEASE do yourself a favor and GO HERE ASAP. Gents its perfect for an engagement, ladies would be killer for a wedding, couples go here and reconnect, friends go here to unwind and relax. The key is GO HERE and stay a week. You wont regret it!!! Cheers Peggy, Dudley and Staff on being one in a million!!!!!

Yelp
My wife and I just returned from a long weekend at the Hope & Glory Inn and loved it. Despite all the rave reviews the Inn has received, we tried to keep expectations in check as we had never visited the Inn. This is no ordinary bed and breakfast. The Inn exceeded our expectations. The entire staff, led by the owners Peggy & Dudley, was very warm and welcoming and service-oriented. The breakfast and dinner were both excellent. We stayed in one of the cottages adjacent to the main house and the room was warm, inviting, and very quiet. Cute shops and a great restaurant nearby. Did I mention the Inn has its own vineyard and boat for cruising around the water? If you want quiet - the town doesnt even have a stoplight -- but great service, food, and atmosphere, this is the place. Great value for the money! We highly recommend it.

Yelp
Visiting friends in Irvington, we enjoyed a delightful four-course dinner at the Inn even though we weren't staying on the premises. Such a great experience! The atmosphere was cozy, the service was fantastic - very friendly and warm - and the food and wine were delicious. Oysters, rockfish and crab were all featured on our preset menu and tasted like they were caught that morning. Altogether terrific in a fun, unpretentious atmosphere and a really lovely little town.

Yelp
Very cute, friendly service, and enjoyed the private cottages behind the Inn. As quiet as the cemetery next door. Three groups of us left at different times, and all took 4-5 hours from the DC area. Location is convenient and in town, walking distance to nice eateries and shopping boutiques. Driving required to separate property where pool and "Tents" are located. Tents are cute-looking and secluded chalets we would try if we come back. Liked the unique outdoor shower and bath best (communal, but fenced). Seems overpriced for such a sleepy rural area. Ritz-Carlton prices for an area less vibrant than something like St Michael's in MD. Although water is several miles away, feels more like farmland than being near the shore. Breakfast was quite good, scrambled eggs, kielbasa & slices of cantaloupe. Would prefer if cream was available for coffee. Coffee tends to be weak throughout Northern Neck for some reason. Good coffee and fixings a block away at "the Local" restaurant, also closest place to Hope & Glory for good sandwiches.
