Having recently moved back to the Ancoats area after two years away (in London), I was really excited when I found out that a small, independent theatre had opened up. I went on Saturday to watch Angel of the House, which I would highly recommend if it comes back around. An AMAZING emotional play about the juxtaposition of women's struggles over an 100 year period (from a suffragette, to a spy in the second world war to a modern-day care worker). The actors were fabulous and the writing was incredibly clever.
The venue itself is perfect. The interior is understated but chic with exposed brick walls, an old piano and gypsophila everywhere (who doesn't love that). They have a small bar and an engine room cafe with a selection of cakes and casual dishes (such as pizza and nachos). The vibe is casual with sofas and big armchairs (and even some saddle stools at the bar).
I can see myself returning on multiple occasions and am already excited about the Christmas Cracker cabaret show and Hair. I couldn't recommend more!
