Hope Mill Theatre

Had a brilliant first visit to Hope Mill Theatre tonight. Staff were friendly and helpful and the venue itself was really nice. Highly recommend if you haven't been. The play was absolutely incredible. Can't wait to come back

(October 2025) What a lovely experience. We went to see Frankenstein The Musical; plenty of parking on site. We booked a table to have pizza and drinks before the show. It’s a rustic room, with plenty of seating. The show was fabulous and funny. Not too many people either, even though the theatre was full. My ONLY regret was booking seats on row B. The staged levels means the last row is shorter than all the others; this is just before A seats sit on the actual floor. Every other row has ample room, but the entire B row is squeezed in because there is not enough space for the chair. Great view of the stage though, but I wouldn’t sit there again.

An incredible space,very vibrant and very attentive and kind staff.I've just enjoyed the sunday matinée of Young Frankenstein, the west end quality production was phenomenal and deserved the standing ovation it was given. Here's to the next ten years of Hope Mill Theatre and your exciting and innovative outreach projects. congratulations and lots of luck .

Lovely little theater, the stage is not raised and the front row is 4 feet from the stage area of that. Very close and personal. Have visited many times and never been disappointed. Book a table and pizza for before the show.

A great find by a friend, based in an old mill a rare treat to see a play was a fabulous success. Most including me in our little group have mobility issues, so on a flat surface is always welcome as this is. With helpful staff a clear clean environment and clean toilets a great welcome awaits even when mobility is slow. Hats off to a great venue in the heartland of the industrial past. Great, thank you.

Had a great time at an adult panto. The venue was fab great drinks and pizza too! No such thing as a bad seat at this venue.

If I could give Hope Mill more than five stars then I would. They are celebrating their ten year anniversary this year which seems insane. We probably visit for a different performance every couple of months and we are never disappointed. Hand on heart, most of my very favourite theatrical performances have been in this theatre. The mix of different productions is delightfully unusual in the very best way and only seems to highlight what brilliant material is out there when you venture beyond larger commercial theatre venues. Hope Mill doesn't fill its calendar with the usual crowd pleasers, and yet the crowds always leave pleased. It has an beautifully intimate feel and as a result of the quality of the productions I always come away feeling extremely privileged to have been in the audience and to have looked into the eyes of the performers. Because of it's location there's also a hidden, secretive vibe that adds to the whole experience. It's anything but run of the mill. This is our first visit to this quirky lovely little theatre. We were not disappointed. Fabulous inside, great bar, great food and super friendly staff. We saw a marvellous production of the Gap. With Denise Welsh and Matthew Kelly who were just Fantastic in this perfect funny and heartwarming tale.They drew you in and you felt like you were on the stage with. This show is on for a few weeks so get down to the Hope and have a ball. The food was really tasty, only a small menu but it was perfect. Good range of drinks at the bar and the crew were fab. The Hopes interior is very cool with a mix of shabby chic and paint it black it'll be fine. Great music played while we had our pizza and hummus. Go on give this place a bash you will not be disappointed. There is a small carpark so be early as it fills quickly.

A wonderful addition to Manchester's creative scene. I went to watch Angel of the House and WOW, what an amazing, emotive performance. I had to fight back the tears. I've heard nothing but good things about this place and I plan on visiting many times over. I'm already planning on going back to see Hair and Christmas Cracker over the coming months. They've started offering relaxed performances which makes this place a lot more accessible for those with kids or for individuals with autism for example. Big thumbs up. The interior is gorgeous, exposed brick walls with big cosy armchairs. Shabby chic with lots of quirky furniture - have a go on the saddle stools! There's a bar on site and the engine room café offers a pre theatre menu :) What more can you ask for.

OMG what a night. You HAVE to go and watch one of the in house productions at this theatre. I genuinely cried three times at Parade. What an amazing cast and orchestra. Such powerful performance. Such a cool new venue. I felt like I was actually on stage it's so intimate. I'm so lucky this is so near me. I'm booking to go again! The venue is setting a new standard in staging new musicals. Support it or loose it! Update: 27 Oct 16: Hair (The musical) is the next in house show. Book now!

Having recently moved back to the Ancoats area after two years away (in London), I was really excited when I found out that a small, independent theatre had opened up. I went on Saturday to watch Angel of the House, which I would highly recommend if it comes back around. An AMAZING emotional play about the juxtaposition of women's struggles over an 100 year period (from a suffragette, to a spy in the second world war to a modern-day care worker). The actors were fabulous and the writing was incredibly clever. The venue itself is perfect. The interior is understated but chic with exposed brick walls, an old piano and gypsophila everywhere (who doesn't love that). They have a small bar and an engine room cafe with a selection of cakes and casual dishes (such as pizza and nachos). The vibe is casual with sofas and big armchairs (and even some saddle stools at the bar). I can see myself returning on multiple occasions and am already excited about the Christmas Cracker cabaret show and Hair. I couldn't recommend more!
