Hops Restaurant & Bar Ballito

We visited this restaurant recently and were really impressed by how beautiful the setting is—right by the beach with stunning views and a relaxed, vibrant atmosphere. There was a bit of a wait to be seated as they seemed to be struggling with seating capacity at the time, but the ambiance made it worth it. Once seated, we ordered a vegetarian pizza, and it was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly done. This place is a great pick if you’re looking for a scenic spot with good food. Just be prepared for a short wait during busy hours.

Food is great,staff are friendly and helpful. A big selection of food such as burgers,pizza,baskets,pasta,wraps and a wide range of drinks. Beer on tap,ciders,cocktails and shooters. You can sit here and overlook the ocean. The atmosphere is good too.

The food was delicious and so fresh! We shared the mussels as a starter and then I had hake and prawns as a main, which was the best seafood I've had in a long time! I think the portion sizes are quite generous, as well! The location is also perfect - nothing better than eating seafood and watching the waves.

I would definitely give a 5 star if it wasn't for take 2. Take 1. Beers and a lovely basket for lunch. Fantastic service, great vibe. Really had a great time. 5 star all round. Take 2. Because lunch was so great we decided to go back for dinner. BIG MISTAKE. The food was fantastic! Service shocking. We were made to feel as if we were in the way of them closing. Would have like another beer but only got service when they came to clear the table. This was 19h45. Even though sitting in the non-smoking section could still smell smoke. Maybe someone was smoking at the bar. When paying the bill I did not tip, WOW what an attitude. Turned there back on us, not even a good bye or thank you for coming. When in Ballito again will definitely steer my mates away from going there.

Hops is a very busy local hangout for everyone, thus you will have a sacrifice in service (as we got our crumbed mushrooms with our fish and chips 🍟 and had to wait some time for the strawberry daiquiri) 2. The rest was fine, for you knew what you were in for. 3. The Crumbed Mushrooms came with a cheese sauce = that didn't work at all, and it was deep fried too long. But the fish and chips 🍟 were fine. 4. Not a "must go and visit" but fine for a light meal.

My wife and I visited Hops for breakfast today and were thoroughly impressed with the quality of food and overall experience. We ordered the "Sunrise Breakfast," and to our pleasant surprise, our meals were served in no time, despite the restaurant being quite busy. The food was not only prepared quickly but also exceeded our expectations in terms of quality and flavor. Each dish was rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. This meal costs R55 per person which is extremely affordable. The ambiance was relaxed and inviting, with a chilled, laid-back vibe enhanced by the breathtaking view of the ocean and the soothing ocean breeze. It’s the perfect setting to enjoy a meal and unwind. While the waitresses could have been a bit friendlier, this did not detract significantly from our experience. Overall, we had a wonderful time and are excited to return to try other dishes on the menu. I highly recommend Hops for anyone looking for a delicious breakfast and a great atmosphere!

Fantastic atmosphere with a wonderful sea view. The cocktails are delicious, and we enjoyed a bit of everything from the menu. The mussels were the highlight – absolutely the best! Highly recommend this spot for a great meal and drinks with a view.

Best in Ballitio. We had a business meeting and couldn't have chosen a better place for it. The owner popped by numerous times as well, just to ensure that we are taking care off. The food, service, ambience and offcourse the VIEW, was absolutely fantastic. I was visiting from Gauteng and can really recommend anyone to visit this gem in Ballito.
