ROOMS: spacious room with two floors. Two bedrooms, bathroom with a shower, big common area with tables, sofa and kitchen. Many closets and seating places. There is a fridge in apartments, a tableware and glasses, different pans, coffee maker are also provided. But surprisingly our room had no kettle. There is a big balcony with a lake view! |LOCATION: direct in front of the lake :) 5min drive to nearest Coop Prix store and to a gas station.|FOOD: good breakfast is included (6:30-9am). There are eggs, meat, patê and salmon, cheese, yogurt and corn flakes, some fruits. There is a restaurant which serves lunch and dinner (main dishes or pizza).|FACILITIES: wi-fi (excellent in a reception/restaurant zone, but connects after some time in the room), parking zone|STAFF: very welcoming, friendly and smiley.

Some of the previous reviews seem unnecessarely harsh to me. Yes, the apartments are privately owned, not all private owners have a high budget or much taste, so also the apartment we were assigned too was not nicely decorated, a bit empty, and had almost exclusively IKEA furniture and hardware. But, the apartment was clean, decent, spacious, comfortable, everything required was present, and it wasn't thát ugly, really. Even had a dishwasher and a washing machine. And free wifi.||Plus, the prices were very reasonable. You're not paying for a 5 star hotel, so you shouldn't be expecting 5 star hotel quality. The price matches the quality.||The restaurant serves very simple food, with the prices to match. Three types of pizza with 4 additional toppings to choose from, and 3-4 standard Norwegian dishes. We ate there for 400 NK with our family of 4 people. ||The area is one of my favourite in Norway. Here you have everything within a 30-40 minute drive: gletchers, plateaus, spectacular hiking trails, the fjords, skiing (even summer skiing), the hadangervidda, and even the coast could be reached in a day trip. Yet it isn't so ridiculously touristy as the Sognefjord area up north of the Telemarken to the east. Don't understand why though, in my opinion this region os much more beautiful and interesting as telemarken.

My wife and I feel fortunate to have found a room in this little hotel with an excellent restaurant. We had the reindeer patties and cod dinners. The included breakfast was just right. The receptionist/manager lady treated us so kindly and also treated her two brand-new employees super well. She took a sincere interest in my wife’s Norwegian heritage and went to the trouble of printing out the Norwegian words to Row, Row, Row Your Boat, a version of which has gotten passed down through the generations in my wife’s family. We enjoyed sitting on the bench across the road from the hotel, taking in the great scenery. We would originally have chosen a hotel in a larger city but now feel glad we found this peaceful place between water and mountain. Oh, and our room had a super comfortable bed which we count as a wonderful bonus.

OK,- this is not a classical 5 star hotel,- they do not exist in Norway anyway. But this a 3 star hotel that deserves top rating! It is homely,- cosy,- great consept as "appartments",- we had great view,- terrase,- very spacy and comfy. The food is simple,- but very (surprisingly) good.... and the service is simple but very friendly. We will be back here,- as we got what we came for: terrific nature,- beutiful scenery,- nice location an clean comfy stay. Thanks so much!!!

Nicely located on top of the Røldal lake and close to several ski slopes and tracks. Personnel nice and service was good. Hotel rooms and restaurant to be improved. Overall a bit overpriced for the quality but ok for a short 2-3 days stay.

Clean apartment with plenty of space. The staff was friendly. Wifi in the unit was fairly weak. Breakfast is typical of Norwegian hotels.

I stayed here for one night during July. The hotel was chosen as it was the nearest place to Odda that I could find with enough available space. The hotel is definitely more hostel than hotel, catering for a backpacking or winter sports client. The room on the 3rd floor has plenty of space and was spread out of 2 levels with a small kitchen and dining area and sleeping space for at least 6. Though it was difficult to get a good nights sleep as the blind in the bedroom wouldn't shut properly and no fans or A/C meant it was stifingly warm. The hotel dining menu was OK, served a nice pizza and glass of wine and breakfast was typical Norwegian, so no complaints there. The big selling point for me is the view, stunning views over the water with snow capped mountains in the distance. Whether I'll stay here again will depend on available rooms in Odda but if I need to visit Roldal, then would definitely be in here again.

A nice hotel with sweet and accommodating staff. Spectacular view. Dinner and breakfast is ok but it's my first hotel in Norway so not sure what to compare with. To danish standards I'd compare it to cafeteria food.
