Horizon Inn & Ocean View Lodge

Lovely, clean, cozy room with a fireplace, refrigerator, microwave and Keurig machine (coffee & tea pods provided). Tasty continental breakfast brought to your room every morning, that was different every day. Enjoyed their daily Happy Hour (4-6pm) of free wine and cheese, and because of the time of year, took our drinks & snacks to our balcony and watched the amazing sunsets every night (room 120 has an awesome ocean view). The staff was very nice. The location is great. Walkable to downtown Carmel (although at night it is dark, no street lights, we used our phone light to see as some of the sidewalks were a bit uneven). And it is all uphill on the return. Overall, had a really nice stay and would totally recommend.

I want to share a wonderful experience about the Horizon Inn. My wife's and my wedding anniversary in on January 3 - celebrated our 50th anniversary this year. We did our honeymoon in Carmel staying at the Horizon Inn, and when I booked this celebration trip I mentioned that we were there 50 years ago. When we arrived to our room we found a bottle of champagne with a beautiful card from the hotel. Our stay was fantastic, and the staff exceptional. The room was great with an ocean view and a fireplace. And we loved the continental breakfast delivered in a picnic basket to the room at 8:00 every morning. Thank you Horizon Inn for a great experience!

Our family has stayed here many times. The experience starts with the very kind and attentive staff! They are welcoming and helpful. The grounds are super clean and tranquil. One of our favorite things is the location. Being located slightly away from the busy downtown area, allows you a peaceful stay, but the walkability is outstanding. For those who can't or don't wish to walk a bit, you may not enjoy the walk back. It is a hill, but for us, after dinner it's a must! Just be cautious and use diligence in the dark. Some of the walk back isn't well lit and a bit rough! But this is no reflection on Horizon, just a helpful tip for those who wish to be on foot. We love parking the car once and walking to shop or enjoy the many local restaurants. The happy hour offered here is amazing! Fruit, cheese, crackers, and wine! We love sitting in the patio area, enjoying the fire pit! The hot tub is outstanding. Plenty of seating to relax and visit. Highly recommend Horizon Inn. There are several rooms with ocean views. We typically stay in 101 or 102. There are partial ocean views. But there are so many room options, which are pretty straightforward if you review them on the website.

It is a simple hotel/motel. There is plenty of parking around and some parking in the hotel. Parking is free. Room are clean and spacious for 1-3 people. They have a small kitchen. Really like it how close it is to downtown area. About 5-8 min walk. It is a well overall hotel. You get what you pay for and usually with the price of this stay it is right on the money. Breakfast is very simple and delivered to your room.

This was the perfect place to stay during our vacation to Carmel. The staff was friendly and responsive. We loved receiving the basket of breakfast each morning. It was just enough to keep us full until lunch. Although we had a car, we walked everywhere during our stay, even down to the beach. The hotel is up a hill, so be prepared for that. I enjoyed getting the burst of exercise after all the great eating we did. We'd definitely stay here again.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed three nights last week at the Horizon Inn. This is a boutique hotel with many nice touches that make it rise above the norm:|- Continental "Breakfast baskets" each morning at your doorstep. |- Fireplace in the room. Great for cool mornings and evening atmosphere. |- Great service at front desk.|- Wine, cheese, crackers and grapes every evening.|- Lovely gathering place with firepit, spa, and sitting areas. |- Very quiet location but still a walk to the shops and restaurants (one in particular you should try is Lafa ... just two blocks away). ||Would absolutely stay here again.

I never leave reviews but this gem was worth reviewing. The staff is kind and friendly, the grounds are adorable and the rooms are clean and cozy. Beautiful patio was spa, fire pit and fire place. Delicious happy hour with local wines and cheeses, fruit, crackers. A filling continental breakfast delivered to your door in a picnic basket. Affordable rates. We will definitely be back again, we had a wonderful time!

We came here for a girls weekend and had a great time! Friendly staff and a fantastic happy hour with cheese and local wine (included with the stay). The hot tub and fire pits were a lovely addition - make sure you leave time to soak and sit near the fire! Our room had an ocean view, and for the price, you can’t beat it. The continental picnic basket breakfast is a really nice touch. Much better amenities than similarly priced hotels in Carmel. Will stay again!
