"A Drive Around a Dramatic Headland This short 13km drive is worth taking for the panoramic views of the northwest coast, stretching from the Rosguill Peninsula to the Bloody Foreland, and out to Tory Island to the north. There’s plenty of seabird life on the cliff ledges, with puffins, storm petrels, gulls and guillemots. When you get to the tip of Horn Head, walk to the viewpoint at Faugher, for views of the cliffs and the ruins of a signal tower from the 17th century."

It is an amazing place that you can practically drive right up to. Small trek, and you have spectacular views. It's very windy, so hold onto anything you have that's important to you.

Great place to visit, but be aware that the road up is narrow and at the top there is limited room for parking. In saying that I had no problem getting there and staying the night in my camper van. The views are magnificent with 360° panaramic views plus there are some old ruins and Clift top walks. Excellent place.

Surely a highlight on this trip. Astounding cliffs and views. At this time of the year there is almost nobody up there so if you manage to walk over to the ruine (which is just a 20min walk from the car park) it will feel almost magical and spiritual, at least it was to me

Amazing walk. Used to come here as a child but never appreciated the amazing cliffs until a recent visit. Not well known so rarely many people about. We went on a cloudy day and still felt like we were at the edge of the earth.

Horn Head is definitely worth exploring. It's a beautiful drive up. The views are stunning. It's completely untouched and it is Ireland at its finest. Try and go on a sunny or dry day to avoid fog. Really beautiful. You can follow road signs, park your car and it's about a 10min walk up.

You can see more of my travel pics day to day on my Instagram platform: 📷edel_wade 360 view of Horn Head in Donegal. Horn Head is a peninsula in Donegal, North West Ireland, close to Dunfanaghy. It forms part of Sheephaven Bay. Trust me when I say, this place is a must. It was definitely the highlight of our WAW trip ( Wild Atlantic Way), we were both in awe of this view, and it’s possibly one of our top locations in Ireland. It’s roughly a 20/30 min trek down to the viewing point( depending on how quickly you walk) The first 5 minutes, there is a slight incline. Then the rest is a decline to the first viewing point. You could easily spend 2 hours or more walking across to each cliff edge and each view is as spectacular as the other On a clear day (which I absolutely cannot guarantee) you’ll be treated to views of Tory Island, Inishbofin and Inishdooey to the west, the Rosguill Peninsula to the east and Malin Head to the northeast. When we first arrived it was foggy, but not long after arriving, it did start to clear and we could see the dramatic cliff edges. The car park at Horn Head in Donegal isn’t very big, but it’s easily found and leads straight up to the main lookout point. #backpacking #ireland #discoverireland #wildatlanticway #wildcamping #waw #wildcampingireland #roadtrip #wanderireland #lovingireland #lovedonegal #staycationireland #lovinireland #keepdiscovering #loveireland #irelandtravel #dji #drone
