"Of the several castles spread between Heidelberg and Stuttgart, Burg Hornberg is one of the largest and most visited. With its oldest parts dating back to the 12th century, it rises dramatically above the town of Neckarzimmern, drawing guests with the promise of renowned knight Götz von Berlichingen’s suit of armor and fake appendage (he famously lost his arm in battle and got a blacksmith to make him a new one), as well as other relevant exhibitions. In addition to a museum, the castle houses a small hotel with 23 guest rooms and a restaurant. If you don’t feel like paying admission, take one of the walking trails up the hill and enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the castle for free."

Amazing restaurant and hotel. The people are friendly, the history of the place is impressive, the food is top notch, the hotel room very clean and most of all the view is spectacular from the terrass. Everything 5/5. Please perfect for a warm summer evening.

We stayed at the hotel of the castle for one night. I decided to visit the castle which costs 7 euros. I love the fact that I could walk every inch of this castle. I was the only person in the entire castle and could imagine it at its prime during the 13th tot 15th century. Its not commercialised like many other castles.

Beautiful views and lovely environment! This Castel is significant to me as my mother’s maiden name is Hornberger. It was quite difficult to get to without a car, and it’s a hike up, but from the top you get some good views of the valley and river! The castle is very fun to wander around in and only cost a couple bucks. I was completely alone almost the whole time I was exploring the castle which gave it a haunting but interesting vibe. One complaint is the lack of information. In the “museum” there’s really only a couple trinkets, and an ok model of the castle. In the castle itself there were two or three plaques about the wine they would make there in German, but other than that there was no information about the castle at all.

After years of painstaking restoration most of the castle ruin is in impressive condition. Some of the towers and most of the rooms are accessible to visitors. Entry coins can be purchased at the shop on site. Very friendly and helpful personnel in the shop. The ruin was the home of Götz von Berlechingen, famously immortalised in Goethe's work. Defenitely worth a visit.

A must to visit place. The Castle is amazing. Its small but you can almost walk around it. Spectacular views. There are many other places around it to visit. Worth a visit 100%. P.S. You can also buy wine if its open...

Wow! Is an awesome place, right up on the hill the castle is just 7€ entry fee. On the way up the hill, a lot of wineries can be seen, we can taste the wine prepared by them. The restaurant is amazing. Very good food!

As much as it pains me, since the service was excellent, I have to call this place avoidable on all counts. After two stays years apart, it's gone downhill. I'd call the rooms cramped if cute. View is beautiful but industrial, and the food was inconsistent, including some very good but some almost inedible. Some was just strange! All expensive.
