My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Hornsby House Inn. The staff was very personable and helpful. Breakfast was amazing. You couldn't ask for a better way to start the day. Our room was comfortable, and little details were present in the room to make your stay enjoyable. Of course, it would be careless of me if I didn't mention the fresh delicious hot chocolate chip cookies that were laid out for the guests each day. The Hornsby House Inn is easily located to all the wonderful historical places of note which is another plus. Whether you walk or drive, Yorktown has many assets to be discovered. Thank you, Hornsby House Inn, for making our anniversary weekend so special!

We had a wedding at the Hornsby House and rented the entire place for the weekend. We could not have picked a better venue! The rooms are very spacious, extremely clean and very pretty. Tom, the property manager and proprietor is so helpful, and Very easy to work with. Lexi, his assistant does it all, Great cook, and girl Friday. Our family highly recommends this as a weekend away or venue. You will not be disappointed

Very enjoyable, beautiful, and comfortable place to stay. The breakfast every day was delicious. I liked the honor bar, and bits of chocolate in bowls in every room. Felt very much at home there. I recommend staying there if you are visiting Yorktown.

This was my 3rd time at the Hornsby House Inn. I just love it there. The family history in the house is wonderful. The rooms are beautiful. The sit down breakfasts with the other guests is my favorite part of the day. The food is always amazing and the conversation can’t be beat. I love that the inn is a short walk to the beach and restaurants. Can’t wait to go back!

The Hornsby House Inn is everything you want in a historic stay: beautiful, comfortable, and full of character - with hosts who truly make you feel at home. The rooms are spacious and inviting, and the location couldn’t be better. You’re right in the heart of Yorktown, just steps from the Victory Monument and Riverwalk. What sets this inn apart is the hospitality. The team is incredibly attentive and kind, making sure every guest feels cared for. Breakfast is served family-style and always delicious. Also, they’re more than happy to accommodate any dietary needs without making a big fuss. It’s thoughtful, seamless, and much appreciated. One of the highlights of our stay was having David Bowditch join us some mornings. His stories about the home, his family, and the history of Yorktown brought the experience to life. Be sure to read Marian Hornsby Bowditch’s Articles of Conduct to her Sons (1959) - a copy is available to take with you, and it’s full of timeless wisdom. And then there’s Tom - gracious host and, as it turns out, a surprisingly skilled hummingbird wrangler. When one made its way inside, he calmly and carefully guided it back out, no easy task and definitely not in the job description. Just one more example of the warmth and kindness of this wonderful team. This isn’t just a place to stay, it’s a place you’ll remember. We can’t recommend it highly enough.

What a lovely charming Inn! My husband and I stopped here on our way down to the Outer Banks. We wanted to visit Yorktown and we like unusual places to stay. This place has history and charm. It has a wonderful view from the front porch over the river. We stayed in the carriage house and that room is large, airy and quiet. Tom the inn keeper is lovely and welcoming. He provides an excellent breakfast and is avaiable if you need him. This is going on our list of places to stay. I am looking forward to visiting again!

My stay at Hornsby House was delightful. The home was very warm and inviting, just as if I were stepping in to visit at a friend's home. Our room was large and provided everything needed to make our stay perfect. A most comfortable bed and beautiful view of the monument and river. The morning breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented in a lovely dining room. The manager was always available with answers to any of our questions and he always offered to provide anything we needed to make our stay perfect. There is nothing that could have made this a better stay. The location was perfect and in walking distance to the water, shops, eating establishments and more.

Wow🤯!! Such a special place. The team does an amazing job in all areas. Our first Bed & Breakfast experience and we loved it!! The house is beautiful with so many areas to sit and relax or admire the rooms and decor. Landscaping was top notch too! Close to everything. We walked, we rode the free trolley (stop is right out front) and just enjoyed our time there. Realized I didn’t even take a picture!! We will be back.

Yelp
I stayed at the Hornsby House on two separate trips in the last couple of months; each stay was wonderful. Great location, great facility, great breakfast and fabulous staff! I will be back in a couple of months as a guest for my niece's wedding at Hornsby House. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
The Hornsby House Inn is the epitome of what I imagine all bed and breakfast's should live up to. From the architecture of the house, the historic location in Yorktown Virginia--one block from the battlefields and the York River--the family history of the home, a lovely hearty breakfast, sun room and living room to hang in and southern hospitality (whew!) my family and friends totally enjoyed ourselves. We had gathered for a celebration of life and the Hornsby House was a beautiful and gracious backdrop for our event. Thank you so much.

Yelp
Hornsby House A wonderful bed and breakfast, one of the best we've visited. The hospitality is wonderful and you are made to feel very welcome. The rooms are wonderful and beds are comfortable. The public spaces are plentiful so there is plenty of room to spread out. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious and served in a beautiful dining room. The location is perfectly located, within walking distance to the waterfront, Maritime Museum, and battlefield and it's museum. If your travels take you to the Yorktown area, don't hesitate to stay here, you'll be glad you did.

Yelp
Our third stay here and as before, everything was absolutely first rate. Room, breakfast, staff, all simply the best. We love this place and are already planning our return!

Yelp
We had a fantastic time here! David and the staff was amazingly welcoming and informative of all things Yorktown. Walking distance to everything and beautiful views from the house. Clean, relaxing, and the breakfast was amazing. We will come again for sure. Everything was wonderful.

Yelp
Very much enjoyed The Hornsby House. Incredibly close to all the best Yorktown sites. We even walked from the House to restaurants nearby. Particularly enjoyed the afternoon tea around the fireplace while chatting with other travelers. Accommodations were comfortable and breakfast was lovely. We visited during chilly winter and wish we had used the fireplace in our room!

Yelp
Fantastic place that is replete with history of the area! Beautifully appointed, comfortable and welcoming, Hornsby House is an absolute find! Friendly, gracious staff, walking distance to downtown, intimate ties to the history of the area and spectacular breakfasts make this the best B&B we have had the opportunity to stay at!

Yelp
This was our first time ever doing a bed and breakfast and I couldn't have been more impressed. This review is long overdue. We got in super late and they were still able to accommodate us and make us feel welcomed. Our room was wonderful and private with a little balcony type thing right off the room. The breakfast was amazing each morning and the hosts were so nice. We met a few other couples and had such a wonderful weekend. Walking distance to everything !!

Yelp
What a great Inn! Family owned and just a lovely place to be. So many little places to hang out both inside and outside. Easy walk to the beach and a few restaurants. Definitely will be going back!

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here for our wedding night and could not have been treated worse by the owner of this place. We stayed there for 1 night (which was ridiculously overpriced) and the first issue we had was the horrible attitude from the owner when my wife and the bridesmaids were getting ready for the wedding in the room WE RENTED. Apparently you need to inform him that you will be getting dressed for a wedding in the room THAT YOU RENT (even though we did so when booking the room. He must have a bad memory). I have never heard of informing hotel staff about what your exact plans are for the room that YOU RENT. I seriously thought this guy wanted a play-by-play of our entire stay. Then my wife decided that she wanted to take a few photos of the wedding party in front of the B&B (I had absolutely no idea who's idea this was) and it just so happens that on this day in APRIL mother nature decided to bless us with snow. When we arrived at the house for these few photos, the bridal party and family members took it upon themselves to go inside (probably because it was 33 degrees outside). I take full responsibility for not making everyone stay outside and freeze to death but there were quite a few people to control. I was then summoned into the owners office where one of my groomsmen and myself were berated and admonished for 20 minutes by the owner.....on my wedding day. Not knowing who exactly decided to take the pictures at the B&B, I told him I THOUGHT it MIGHT have been the wedding co-ordinator. I have honestly not been talked to that horrible by someone in my entire adult life. He was a complete and utter a..hole. We apologized profusely only to have his finger wagged in our faces followed by more yelling. We promptly got everyone to leave and went and took the pictures in the battlefield a few hundred yards away. I thought everything was finished but by the time we finished the pictures and got to the reception this jerk had come to our reception and hunted our wedding co-ordinator down. He proceeded to curse her up and down and make a scene at our reception. I have never been that mad in my entire life. If I had caught him at my reception it would not have ended well for him. I can promise that no one I know will EVER step foot in this worn out old house. This man is maybe the biggest piece of crap I have ever met and I hope anyone that reads this thinks twice about staying at this overpriced piece of junk (all of the furniture seemed to come from my grandmother's garage) which is run by a complete schmuck. There werw about 100 other ways to approach this and I could not have been more apologetic when he harrased me for 20 minutes on my wedding day. Going to my reception and attacking my innocent co-ordinator was not one of them. Talking to me, who had absolutely no clue about what was going on, like i am some piece of crap was another. We had 85 year old men and women who would have froze to death had they not had to wait outside. He was a complete jerk for coming to my reception and an even bigger jerk for how he approached my co-ordinator. I beg you to take in to consideration the type of person you willing be dealing with and giving your money to before you commit to staying here. You could go to a million other B&B's and pay much less, have a much better put together home to stay in, have a better environment and not have to deal with someone as rude as this guy is. I will say that the poor girl who actually does the work there could not have been more nice. She honestly looked like she was terrified of this douchebag....but she was terrific.

Yelp
We had a fantastic stay at the Hornsby House Inn! From the moment we walked in, we knew we were at home in this beautiful place. Our entire family stayed here for a week to celebrate my parents' 50th anniversary, and it was absolutely perfect for us. David, Phil, and Jeanette were helpful and welcoming. We dined on an excellent breakfast each morning that got us going for the day. I highly recommend the Hornsby House Inn!

Yelp
We had our rehearsal dinner here. It was the perfect venue for having around 60 guests and a food truck! The owners were friendly, responsive and helpful. Our wedding party also stayed here, and we loved it. The breakfast was fantastic, and accommodations very comfy. The location is also perfect for any activities in and around Yorktown.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this place. It is all wrapped up in history, yet a comfortable and homey place. Best night's sleep I've had in months, and the breakfast was delicious.

Yelp
Not hard to see why the Hornsby House has so many 5 star reviews. This was our first experience with a B&B and it will be hard to top. The house itself is amazing, many rooms all decorated beautifully and filled with old photos and memorabilia from the family, which was neat to see. The innkeepers are two brothers who were raised in the house and we loved hearing their stories of growing up in Yorktown, as well as local history. Wine & cheese was served nightly at 5 and it was a great chance to meet the other guests that came from all over the country and Europe. The fife and drum parade marched down Main Street right in front of the house. We happened to also be there for the summer music concert in town and the owners loaned folding chairs to the guests and offered to shuttle us into town, although it was easily within walking distance if preferred. The breakfast was delicious and offered a variety of hearty dishes, with more than enough to go around. The room we stayed in was the Hornsby room and it was spacious. The beds were comfortable and the room and bath were spotless. We left feeling like we were guests at the home and not just patrons. Thank you to David, Phillip and Jeanette for a wonderful experience we will never forget!
