We had a wonderful stay for our anniversary at the Hornsby House Inn. Upon arrival, we were welcomed by Lexi and Tom, who manage the inn. We were immediately captivated by the welcoming atmosphere in the house. It was as if we were returning home after a long trip. The nightime tray of warm cookies were a sweet part of our welcome. The other house guests were equally welcoming. The next morning we had a delicious family style breakfast with all the guests arrayed around the well adorned tables in the dining room. There were several comfortable gathering places around the house for guests to talk, read, relax and enjoy the surroundings. The Inn sits on a hillside overlooking the York River in the midst of several historic sites. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.

This was my first time staying in a true bed and breakfast, and it completely exceeded my expectations! Lexi and Tom were incredibly friendly hosts and even let me request waffles for breakfast (which were delicious). The inn itself is beautiful, full of history, and has two cozy communal rooms with fireplaces—perfect for curling up with a book or getting some writing done. My bed was so comfortable, it felt like sleeping in the 18th century (in the best possible way!). I missed this place as soon as I left and can’t wait to visit again. Highly recommend!

We recently hosted my mom’s memorial gathering at the Hornsby House Inn, and it was truly the perfect setting for such a meaningful occasion. From the moment we arrived, Lexi, the house manager, was kind, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. She made sure we had everything we needed and handled all the details with grace and care, allowing our family to focus on being together.||The Inn itself is just as beautiful as it appears on their website....full of history and character, yet warm and inviting. The space has a timeless charm with its colonial architecture, cozy sitting rooms, and stunning views overlooking the Yorktown waterfront. It provided a peaceful and comforting atmosphere that made everyone feel welcome.||We used the property for our memorial reception, and it could not have gone more smoothly. The rooms flowed beautifully for mingling and sharing stories, and the outdoor areas offered the perfect balance of privacy and openness. Every corner of the Inn felt cared for and thoughtfully designed just as the owners describe.||Though we didn’t stay overnight, we can easily see why guests rave about their accommodations and breakfasts. The Hornsby House Inn is not only a beautiful bed and breakfast but also an exceptional venue for special occasions. Our family is so grateful for the hospitality we received and the serene setting that helped us celebrate my mom’s life in such a peaceful and loving way. We look forward to returning one day to experience a full stay.

My husband and I stayed here 2 years ago and decided this would be a great place to host our 25th wedding anniversary party. We rented out the whole house this past weekend and held our party in the separate event space right near the Inn. What an absolute delight! We truly thank Lexi and Tom for making this such a wonderful, memorable event. The party was amazing and our guests loved staying here. Words cannot express the extra TLC we received from Friday through Monday and in the planning stages leading up to our anniversary. We recommend the Hornsby House for a stay and/or a party. Either way you cannot go wrong. This place is an absolute treasure!

We had a wonderful time at Hornsby House. It is beautiful! We were in the Carriage House and enjoyed the privacy for the accommodations but we loved the. Breakfast in the main house with other guests. The breakfasts were delicious. Lexie was great! The Hornsby House is in the perfect location for seeing the Yorktown Battlefield and the waterfront!

Beautifully restored home turned B&B, lovely setting, great location in historic Yorktown. Very comfortable, spotlessly clean room. We stayed in the ample-sized Hornsby. Delicious breakfast. Tom and Lexi were gracious hosts, helpful and knowledgeable.

What a gem!!! Great room, breakfast, hosts and location. It is very close to the “beach” and town. Our room was fantastic. We had our morning coffee on the terrace every morning followed by a fantastic breakfast and a stroll around town. We visited the coffee shop, the beach and went to the farmers market. On our last day at breakfast we got a history lesson about the Inn and the town. Our hosts were all so welcoming. We will definitely be staying here again. 10 out of 10!

Lovely, convenient place. Very comfortable, spotlessly clean room with beautiful view. Delicious breakfast. Helpful, knowledgeable, gracious staff ready to help with the unexpected. When Tom learned I was going to have road service try to fix my tire, he did it! Where else would a lodger have been so fortunate! I plan to return and recommend Hornsby House highly to any traveler.

Yelp
I stayed at the Hornsby House on two separate trips in the last couple of months; each stay was wonderful. Great location, great facility, great breakfast and fabulous staff! I will be back in a couple of months as a guest for my niece's wedding at Hornsby House. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
The Hornsby House Inn is the epitome of what I imagine all bed and breakfast's should live up to. From the architecture of the house, the historic location in Yorktown Virginia--one block from the battlefields and the York River--the family history of the home, a lovely hearty breakfast, sun room and living room to hang in and southern hospitality (whew!) my family and friends totally enjoyed ourselves. We had gathered for a celebration of life and the Hornsby House was a beautiful and gracious backdrop for our event. Thank you so much.

Yelp
Hornsby House A wonderful bed and breakfast, one of the best we've visited. The hospitality is wonderful and you are made to feel very welcome. The rooms are wonderful and beds are comfortable. The public spaces are plentiful so there is plenty of room to spread out. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious and served in a beautiful dining room. The location is perfectly located, within walking distance to the waterfront, Maritime Museum, and battlefield and it's museum. If your travels take you to the Yorktown area, don't hesitate to stay here, you'll be glad you did.

Yelp
Our third stay here and as before, everything was absolutely first rate. Room, breakfast, staff, all simply the best. We love this place and are already planning our return!

Yelp
Very much enjoyed The Hornsby House. Incredibly close to all the best Yorktown sites. We even walked from the House to restaurants nearby. Particularly enjoyed the afternoon tea around the fireplace while chatting with other travelers. Accommodations were comfortable and breakfast was lovely. We visited during chilly winter and wish we had used the fireplace in our room!

Yelp
Fantastic place that is replete with history of the area! Beautifully appointed, comfortable and welcoming, Hornsby House is an absolute find! Friendly, gracious staff, walking distance to downtown, intimate ties to the history of the area and spectacular breakfasts make this the best B&B we have had the opportunity to stay at!

Yelp
This was our first time ever doing a bed and breakfast and I couldn't have been more impressed. This review is long overdue. We got in super late and they were still able to accommodate us and make us feel welcomed. Our room was wonderful and private with a little balcony type thing right off the room. The breakfast was amazing each morning and the hosts were so nice. We met a few other couples and had such a wonderful weekend. Walking distance to everything !!

Yelp
What a great Inn! Family owned and just a lovely place to be. So many little places to hang out both inside and outside. Easy walk to the beach and a few restaurants. Definitely will be going back!

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here for our wedding night and could not have been treated worse by the owner of this place. We stayed there for 1 night (which was ridiculously overpriced) and the first issue we had was the horrible attitude from the owner when my wife and the bridesmaids were getting ready for the wedding in the room WE RENTED. Apparently you need to inform him that you will be getting dressed for a wedding in the room THAT YOU RENT (even though we did so when booking the room. He must have a bad memory). I have never heard of informing hotel staff about what your exact plans are for the room that YOU RENT. I seriously thought this guy wanted a play-by-play of our entire stay. Then my wife decided that she wanted to take a few photos of the wedding party in front of the B&B (I had absolutely no idea who's idea this was) and it just so happens that on this day in APRIL mother nature decided to bless us with snow. When we arrived at the house for these few photos, the bridal party and family members took it upon themselves to go inside (probably because it was 33 degrees outside). I take full responsibility for not making everyone stay outside and freeze to death but there were quite a few people to control. I was then summoned into the owners office where one of my groomsmen and myself were berated and admonished for 20 minutes by the owner.....on my wedding day. Not knowing who exactly decided to take the pictures at the B&B, I told him I THOUGHT it MIGHT have been the wedding co-ordinator. I have honestly not been talked to that horrible by someone in my entire adult life. He was a complete and utter a..hole. We apologized profusely only to have his finger wagged in our faces followed by more yelling. We promptly got everyone to leave and went and took the pictures in the battlefield a few hundred yards away. I thought everything was finished but by the time we finished the pictures and got to the reception this jerk had come to our reception and hunted our wedding co-ordinator down. He proceeded to curse her up and down and make a scene at our reception. I have never been that mad in my entire life. If I had caught him at my reception it would not have ended well for him. I can promise that no one I know will EVER step foot in this worn out old house. This man is maybe the biggest piece of crap I have ever met and I hope anyone that reads this thinks twice about staying at this overpriced piece of junk (all of the furniture seemed to come from my grandmother's garage) which is run by a complete schmuck. There werw about 100 other ways to approach this and I could not have been more apologetic when he harrased me for 20 minutes on my wedding day. Going to my reception and attacking my innocent co-ordinator was not one of them. Talking to me, who had absolutely no clue about what was going on, like i am some piece of crap was another. We had 85 year old men and women who would have froze to death had they not had to wait outside. He was a complete jerk for coming to my reception and an even bigger jerk for how he approached my co-ordinator. I beg you to take in to consideration the type of person you willing be dealing with and giving your money to before you commit to staying here. You could go to a million other B&B's and pay much less, have a much better put together home to stay in, have a better environment and not have to deal with someone as rude as this guy is. I will say that the poor girl who actually does the work there could not have been more nice. She honestly looked like she was terrified of this douchebag....but she was terrific.

Yelp
We had a fantastic stay at the Hornsby House Inn! From the moment we walked in, we knew we were at home in this beautiful place. Our entire family stayed here for a week to celebrate my parents' 50th anniversary, and it was absolutely perfect for us. David, Phil, and Jeanette were helpful and welcoming. We dined on an excellent breakfast each morning that got us going for the day. I highly recommend the Hornsby House Inn!

Yelp
We had our rehearsal dinner here. It was the perfect venue for having around 60 guests and a food truck! The owners were friendly, responsive and helpful. Our wedding party also stayed here, and we loved it. The breakfast was fantastic, and accommodations very comfy. The location is also perfect for any activities in and around Yorktown.

Yelp
We absolutely loved this place. It is all wrapped up in history, yet a comfortable and homey place. Best night's sleep I've had in months, and the breakfast was delicious.

Yelp
Not hard to see why the Hornsby House has so many 5 star reviews. This was our first experience with a B&B and it will be hard to top. The house itself is amazing, many rooms all decorated beautifully and filled with old photos and memorabilia from the family, which was neat to see. The innkeepers are two brothers who were raised in the house and we loved hearing their stories of growing up in Yorktown, as well as local history. Wine & cheese was served nightly at 5 and it was a great chance to meet the other guests that came from all over the country and Europe. The fife and drum parade marched down Main Street right in front of the house. We happened to also be there for the summer music concert in town and the owners loaned folding chairs to the guests and offered to shuttle us into town, although it was easily within walking distance if preferred. The breakfast was delicious and offered a variety of hearty dishes, with more than enough to go around. The room we stayed in was the Hornsby room and it was spacious. The beds were comfortable and the room and bath were spotless. We left feeling like we were guests at the home and not just patrons. Thank you to David, Phillip and Jeanette for a wonderful experience we will never forget!
