We had such a great time!! Working toilets and showers. They keep the grounds really nice and clean. Sites are not very level. I wish they would upgrade and offer full hook ups. Some sites have water sprouts and some do not. There's dumpsters placed in various spots and extra porter potties too. The amphitheater needs new benches and some love but there is a trail you can walk up above the amphitheater. Very easy trail/hike. Its a beautiful campground just needs some upgrades but for the price it's very well worth it. We'll definitely be back!

$20 a night great value, make sure you reserve online as walk ins are no longer allowed. No host at time of our stay but the rangers frequently stroll through willing to help out with any questions. Make sure to check out the Ga-We-Ha Historic Trail it’s starts near site #7 😉

My husband and I have been to this campground so many times with and without the rest of our family and it's usually always awesome. A+ Campground. Very nice view and accessible lake. Horse creek is dog and family friendly. The time before this last time we went, there was no one else camping here. So when we decided to try and move over one campsite for better shade from the sun, the young ranger who came to check on us said it would be fine as long as we were only staying one night. We stayed one night this time as well, but when we arrived to our campsite we realized it had a pretty severe slant. Anyone who tent camps know that sucks. So we tried to switch again, but this time I call to make sure it would be okay. There were only two other people camping. And no other reserved signs posted. The man I spoke with first was very nice and respectful. The lady he transferred me to wasn't as nice or respectful. It's only $20, but it's my hard earned money that I paid. I also understand that it is their policy to not allow switching campsites because "they would have to let everyone do it". When I voiced my concerns about my tent being on a slant she said in a very rude tone "I've seen millions of tents on that campsite" if it wasn't too late I would have asked for a refund. Other than that our stay was as always wonderful.

Unfortunately its not like before, when the restrooms and showers were clean and you had the office or a ranger available. This 24 hrs reservation thing honestly sucks!! Lots of empty spaces yes it's 20 dlls but those camp 🏕 host can be a little more nice when doing customer service I do understand sometimes they deal with stupid people few years back I remember someone almost run over the lady in charge, but situation could've been handle a bit different. Hoping for better days in these place and hopefully they fixed or update the main Bathrooms by the office..

On the way back fom Sequoia National Park decided to stop by this place. I'm glad I did. Awesome park. Water is great. Clean. Showers are available and the restrooms. Recommend.

The bathrooms are very clean. We have seen rangers/ care takers come and clean them daily. The spaces are pretty spacious and cater to both trailers and tents. There are spaces for those with horses also. While here you can choose to go into the sequoias for fun all day or choose one of the short hikes at the campground. It's beautiful, quiet and serene. We love camping here!

Very Nice view, we could see the whole sky. When we went it’s a full moon day and moon was good. This place was too hot and there were no trees . Till 8 clock in the night it’s hot. And there was a freeway nearby and we could hear loud noise throughout the night. But one good thing was it was near to sequoia national park, 15 to 20 miles. There was cell tower. Bathrooms and showers were clean . No mosquitoes but there were so many ants. One of my friends family brought a dog, ants bit him everywhere. Pls make sure bring a cot or something like that if you are bringing a dog .

This campground is around the lake! Ppl can go fishing, swimming 😀.8 washrooms equipped shower 🚿 facility! Ever campground has fire pit with grill on top which is perfect for BBQ 😉. Lower level campground right adjacent to water may get flooded due to water level rise .. so avoid those spots. Rest all it's perfect campground . Make reservation in advance. There is no first come first serve. Also this is only 1 hour drive from sequoia national park entrance! Enjoy

Yelp
I've been "glamping" before when I was younger - my family used to rent a cabin and we would then explore the mountains. However, I had never camped in a tent prior to this. However, Horse Creek was a good introduction to the camping world. At $20 a night, you get your own campsite that can fit up to 8-10 people. We were able to fit about 4 tents. The ground was flat enough to set up camp, and the grounds to eat and chill were spacious enough. As for the bathrooms, the showers are fairly clean and the toilets aren't too shabby either. It seemed like they were cleaned on a daily basis. As for entertainment, the campsite is right near the lake so every morning I woke up to the beautiful sight of nature - the sunset was pretty as well. The lake wasn't too dirty, although I would recommend water shoes. Also, the main office has friendly staff to answer any questions. Ultimately, if you want a campground that's at the bottom of the mountain (it's only 10-12 miles away from the entrance of the Sequoia National Park) that's clean and family-friendly, this place is extremely solid. I highly recommend it.

Yelp
Probably a nice campground but they lock the gates at 9pm. Sorry out of luck. We drove 6 hours and couldn't get in at 930pm. This is unacceptable in my book and we checked their website first and no mention of this policy. Hopefully they change it someday. My son was heartbroken we couldn't get in. FAIL

Yelp
I enjoy car camping. Not quite the serious "hike into your spot" kind of camping. But drive up, unload, pitch a tent and relax. This campground was perfectly just that. The sites are RIGHT on the shore of the lake. In fact, the site we reserved was UNDER WATER when we arrived in early May. They're not joking when they say the whole campground is closed in the summer months due to flooding. Thankfully they only allow half the sites to be reserved and they moved us to an open spot, right at the front. It also gave us an easy spot to fish from the shore in the mornings and evenings. I'm glad we chose this campground when finding a weekend getaway. I heard it gets crowded inside the main campgrounds in Sequoia Park. Sites are well spaced out. Each spot had either a canopy or a tree for shade. Of course theres a fire pit too. The bathrooms were sufficient. 1 shower inside, with hot water. The local general store is within a 5 minute drive to get firewood and supplies and Kaweah Marina is close by too to rent a patio boat to enjoy the day on the lake. They will close the gate entrance at 9pm sharp. But you can park in the dirt lot or next to the gate over night. The exit is open all night, but its got those 1 way spike strips... exit only.

Yelp
Great area to stay if you don't want to pay as much to stay in Sequoia National Park, $20 a night, can't really beat that! It's also right by a lake so bring your fishing rods or boats and set sail! Camped here for labor day 2015, and everything was basically dry, so no worries on any flooding, in fact, you can see where the water level USED to be and it's way way way lower nowadays, save water California! The campsites aren't bad, pretty spacious, I believe they allow 2 cars, 2 tents, max of 8 people and pets allowed if on leashes to one campsite, at least the one that I rented. They should have more options than that though if you're camping with more people. The campsite has a picnic bench, as well as a firepit for campfires, with half a grill so that you can cook food on it. BEWARE: bathrooms are not as amazing as they seem. There are only 4 bathrooms to each restroom center area (porta potties are scattered around as well) but what sucks is that the shower is in each bathroom stall, so in the morning and evening times, it'll take hours to wait in line to just use it for the restroom. It's unfortunate that this was designed better. I went real camp crazy and just didn't shower the whole three days! (of course i forgot a towel too so made the decision easier as the showers were pretty gross since it's in the same area as the toilet). Besides that though, great area, nice scenery, quiet, and spacious. Great clear night skies for star gazing (you'll see a few shooting stars guaranteed!)

Yelp
After staying in Seqouia National Park at Potwisha, I thought this place would be adequate for a stop over, a place to flop on our way...we ended up staying here for 4 days! The lake is almost dry for most of the year, this being February. ..we were able to walk across a lake, it was so cool. There was old homesteads on the bottom, including a swimming pool....very cool and surreal. When the lake fills a good portion of the campsites are under water...it was cool to imagine which sites are lakefront property : -) Check it out

Yelp
Friendly, but busy. Campsites have a good amount of room between them, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. Though you're not too close to your neighbors, it seems like each site has multiple tents, a few cars, and a dozen people and kids. And a radio. That said, it was also Labor Day weekend, so there were a lot of families around. Also, very pretty landscape, but you can hear highway traffic nearby through the night. Though it's not too bad, it reminds you that you're not fully in nature. That said, the couple managing the campsite is lovely and went above and beyond to help accommodate us (without a reservation, on one of the busiest weekends of the year). They definitely earned my highest regards. All in all, I'd say that Lake Kaweah wasn't the most peaceful of campgrounds I've visited, but it was definitely very family-forward and good for groups. Don't regret staying at all, but I don't think I'd come back during another long weekend.

Yelp
So I had 2 criteria for the night: 1. Tent camping 2. Open pit fire Yeah, found a place to pitch a tent right before 10pm....when this campground was closing ...right in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. It is not on the map....actually, passed by, on those winding mountain roads, the 2 campgrounds that were on the map, on accident....and thought it was a lost cause...until this place popped up. A great place it is. You can have it ALL here... EVERYTHING except material greed. You can watch the stars up above, Have a wild fire in your pit and A grill plate for those beer-bathed-brats (although it was a bit covered in rust) and most importantly, WIDE OPEN space. Usually, I do not like seeing headlights when I camp...but something about this place....seeing those lights high off in the distant mountain...made me feel less insignificant in this wild world. Hot showers, for free, never crowded, actually I was lucky to wave "HI" to one other human being. I think I personally counted over 5 space debris meterorites hitting the atmosphere, and my buddy counted way more than that....each visualized at different times.....go ahead, child, make a wish on that shooting star! Dog friendly. Fire friendly. Me friendly. It gets 4 stars.

Yelp
Good place to walk on a cool day Lots of family picnic during the weekend So felt safe But found some beer bottles with women's underwear at the corner So not sure if I wanna go after sunset

Yelp
Spacious sites, beautiful surrounding hills, nearby highway with road noise, clean restrooms. The camp host was awfully grouchy!

Yelp
This place was very affordable and easy to get to. At $20 a night you really can't beat it. There were some campgrounds that were underwater, but they did what they could to accommodate the people who ended up booking unlivable sites. The bathrooms were centrally located and this place is right on the water. Be careful how late you get in though, because they do lock up the gate at night. There are fire pits and picnic tables on all of the sites. Would definitely go back to this place.

Yelp
Decent campground. Stayed there 8/14/09 through 8/16/09. I was thinking that the lake would be close to the campground based on the previous reviews, but let me tell you that 8 weeks makes a HUGE difference. The lake was not visible from the campground and with about a 1 mile hike, you still could not see it. A bit dissapointing, but the site was still nice. We stayed in site 51 (closest to the lake) haha. The site is wide open with NO trees. Bring your own shade!!! Great for the kids to run around. You could see them from all around. No bugs (yeah!)...probably b/c no water. Mostly grassy site. You can easily put 4+ tents here. If you get the sites next to it, you have a great big open area. The site right above is where the water is. Weird that it's kind of in that site, but it's a shared deal, so no big deal. The real bathrooms are only up by the camp host or way down on the other end of the grounds. They do provide port-o-potties just by the nearby overflow parking. Friday they were 8+ condition, by Sunday morning, they were a 3-4 out of 10. Campground actually filled up on Friday night. Not completely, but it was near capacity with cars/camper trolling through after dark looking for a spot. The host is great (Bob). He gave us passes that work at the local swimming hole (Slick Rock), just up the road about 2-3 miles. This was a great spot. Warm water, slow moving current. Great to float around in with innertubes or air mattresses. On Sunday, there were a significant number of locals coming up to swim, eat, bbq, entertain...didn't have a concern for personal space, but it was still nice. Took one day to drive up to the Sequoias. It's about 1.5 hours to the Giant Forrest museum and trails. Well worth it! We wanted to stay up in the forrest, but those grounds were full. We'll reserve ahead next time. Overall, good spot, nice area and not any riff-raff, crazy partiers. Maybe they though that of us. :) I"ll post some pics later of the virtual lake.

Yelp
Had a great time with my family here, but too many red ants, showers were inconvenient & not enough trees for shade.

Peggie S.

Yelp
This Camp site can be very hot in summer. I went there on July 3rd and it was 106F. I was impossible to sleep at night. If you want to go there make sure to get a spot that has some shade.
