We had a wonderful time at the Horton hotel. It's a magnificent hotel, in the perfect little hidden street in lively San Diego. Yes, you guessed it, we went for the ghostly delights and we weren't disappointed. It was the infamous room 309 where Rodger Whittaker was gunned down hiding in the Armoire.
The staff, no matter what area we were at, were the best of the best. I'm ashamed that I've forgotten their names but, they made our stay so pleasant. We got a heated room just like the hotel states about the unexplainable happenings that the infamous poker cheater will do in 309, and then in the middle of the night it'll be absolutely freezing cold. It was Saint Patrick's day but, by early am, the streets were eerie silent and the first hours of the full moon shined brightly outside as well as through the curtain cracks.
We roamed quietly throughout the hotel in the middle of the night and it was such a vintage beautiful experience. There's so much beauty in every stair of the hotel. It just screams with history as we did when the elevator decided to take us for a ride, and didn't have a choice. That was an unexpected treat to say the least.
And, if you're just there for the beauty and had your fill of ghosts or simply just don't believe, well, no worries because you'll absolutely love every little detail of the hotel, the location and the things to do in the area.
Unless you go during events or holidays, you may find parking on the street, otherwise your car will be taken by the valet for $48.00, a night and you can have them bring it up anytime. I'm so happy we have such a beautiful piece of SD's past in pristine condition for all to enjoy. Book your stay!
