We spent two nights at this lovely 4 star hotel or hospedería, which is built around a former convent and factory and just 2 minutes walking distance from the city centre of Alcántara. From the hospedería you can quickly access all main sights including the Conventual, main square, churches, and Roman bridge. We drove as there is plenty of parking space in the town centre, but walking is also possible. The personnel were very attentive and helpful, they told us what to visit in Alcántara and around it, and how to get there. They even booked a guided visit to the Conventual, which is highly recommended. The rooms were spacious, quiet, warm, and well furnished, and the shower was amazing! The dinner menu and wines were really good. We also enjoyed having drinks at the cafeteria including some local beers made with acorns. Thank you for the unforgettable experience!

We spent a night here during a cycle tour, and loved it. Our room was large, quiet and comfortable. We like the high ceiling and the adjacent corridor leading to an attractive courtyard. There is a nice ambience in the building, and a sense of history although equipped with modern facilities. Meals were good, and the expansive terrace and its views is an excellent spot for an early evening drink. We really liked it here.

Loved this hotel. It is full of history, felt luxurious with a super terrace to enjoy an evening drink. Rooms were massive. Felt a lovely relaxing place to stay. If want a room with a view make sure to ask for it. Pool was not open and didn't look like it would be for several months which was a shame.

It’s a fabulous hotel set in an old convent, which had since been converted into a mill. All the milling machinery is still in place in the vast breakfast room. We has a junior suite, which was huge and had an excellent view across the valley. We opted for half board and were pleased we did - better food than we would expect for the price. The cloister area is lovely, as is the outside pool. Plenty of free parking. It’s an easy walk into Alcantara - around 10 minutes. Staff were great. If I had to find something negative, I would say the internet was slow.

With five stars all round, what else is there to say! We have stayed here on a number of occasions and never been disappointed. The location is easy to find and parking is in front of the hotel. Meals are excellent, as is the breakfast.

Another old building once used as a Mill now used as hotel accommodation, interior is minimal décor (the building says enough) with spacious rooms with not much in the way of furniture. There's enough to make it comfortable and the bathrooms are very good. Small bar area with and outside but it gets very hot late afternoon, plenty of room inside. Restaurant was very good with decent meals and plenty for breakfast.

Very attentive and polite male waiter. Bravo! Food very reasonably priced and quite good :) However, the reception needs improvement. (8/11/23)

This was ther third Hospederia in Extremadura we have stayed in. This one is unique in that although it was once a convent until 1835 it then became a flour mill.. In fact at the entrance the original machinery. The rooms are modern with all the facilities. We asked for a room for people with reduced mobility and it was very well equipped. The girls at the front desk were friendly and informative as well as the waiter in the restaurant. We were there on a slow day, off season and had the hotel to ourselves. The half-board meal plan is well worth the extra thirty euros for a couple since the food is of high quality and has the appearance and taste of close to a gourmet cuisine.
