We spent 5 nights at Hostal Acapulco. The room was clean but small and basic. It reminded me of some convent stays we had done in Italy. The location was excellent, walking distance to many attractions. The area was safe. The front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. Marco, especially, gave us great advice on transportation and dining. The hotel is located on the 3rd floor but the elevator was always available. We would stay here again.

I was most fortunate in booking Hostal Acapulco for my first visit to Madrid; the reason being that it’s location on a vast open square halfway between Puerta Del Sol and Gran Via set me up for accessing the city in any direction that I needed to go. Taxis service the adjacent curbside, which meant that I could be dropped off from Barajas airport right at the hostal’s doorstep. Taking the elevator to the fourth floor entrance led me to Javier, the manager, who could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Rooms are well-outfitted and comfortable, either facing a quiet courtyard or a vibrant, well-lit urban plaza. For my next visit to Madrid, I will return to the Acapulco without hesitation, because it feels like my home away from home!

I came across recommendations for this hotel due to best location chose it. Our experience was fantastic. We toured everything by foot, no hassle with taxis or public transport. Most of the well-known historic places and top museums are within walking distance - wonderful! Moreover, there are great options to eat, shop etc nearby. This small family-run hotel is perfectly located for tourists in Madrid. Front desk is available 24/7 and very helpful with typical tourist questions. Complimentary coffee, collection of teas is available; also a fridge in the room and a common microwave to warm up stuff. Additional drinks or small snacks like chocolates can be purchased anytime. Highly recommended for its location, nice-helpful staff, clean and functional room - great value for money!

Fabulous small hotel. Room was exceptional and staff were very helpful. Quiet room, balcony, great facilities, great beds. Very clean and well maintained, highly recommended. No stairs, lift access. Also good value for money, superb location. Close to Gran Via metro and Plaza Major just a short walk. Safe area/security building with 24/7 front desk

Unfortunately, Hostal Acapulco never sent me a confirmation of my reservation so I made other arrangements for a hotel in Madrid. I had given my e-mail address as the contact information for me but they used WhatsApp somehow assuming that everyone uses this app. I do use WhatsApp but not as my primary contact for hotel or other reservations. Hostal Acapulco charged me for a one -night stay which I obviously did not use. The lesson for Hostal Acapulco is to use the contact source that the guest gives to management and not make assumptions about how to reach clients. Also sending confirmations via the contact source is important! I have disputed this charge.

Visited Hostal Acapulco following a friend’s recommendation and did not regret it. We were greeted by Javier Sotillo who was extremely nice and helpful and made our stay as if we were at home. It is a simple hostel with no amenities but extremely clean, well kept and with an excellent staff. Rooms are simple but very practical, good air conditioning, hot water and clean beds. Definitely a great value right in the center of Madrid.

Excellent value. Fantastic location just a few minutes walk from Puerta del Sol but removed enough so that it’s not loud or crazy busy right outside of the hostal. Rooms are clean and comfortable with ample closet space for our 4 night stay, great air conditioning which we think is critical in summer months, great water pressure for showers, very secure with super helpful and friendly front desk staff 24/7. We would definitely stay again, highly recommend.

Great location downtown Madrid. Super helpful owner/manager, Javier. Appreciated the help and special accommodation. Clean, spacious room with a view of Plaza del Carmen. Perfect for a one-night stay passing through Madrid to other locations.

Yelp
We stayed at Hostal Acapulco during our visit to Madrid. It is in a great location walking distance from Sol and the metro. Staff is friendly and helpful, but the place is dated. Our window shade was broken, but didn't realize it until we tried to lower it the night before we left. We let them know and they told us they have fixed it. If you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay in a good location, this is it!

Yelp
Review for Hostal Acapulco The fact that this is my third stay at this wonderful family-run hostal should tell you all you need to know. To summarize my previous reviews, this little jewel is spotlessly clean, comfortable (better water pressure than I have at home, an excellent mattress), and most importantly run by great people. You certainly will not find better value. The location is unbelievably convenient: You are a step from Puerto del Sol and 1/2 a step from Gran Via. On the same block is the famous Tako (taco) shop that everyone in Madrid lines up for. A five minute walk will take you to a zillion shops, cafes and restaurants. Busses and the Metro are a 1-2 minutes walk, and taxis are lined up down the block. Not sure I can wait until the tennis tournament next May to go back to beautiful Madrid and check into my home away from home, The Hostal Acapulco.

Yelp
As a first-time Europe traveler, I was beyond impressed by the quality of facilities and service at this so-called hostal. I was expecting what you might get in the United States as far as hostels go: bed bugs, dorm-style rooms, dirty shared bathrooms, etc. In actuality, once we actually found the building, it far exceeded our expectations. First things first. I was staying with a group of four. Normally, in a hotel situation, we would either be sharing beds or getting two different rooms. However, Hostal Acapulco accommodated all four of us, with separate beds, in the same room. It was great! Yeah, the beds were a little small (twin-ish sized) and the pillows a little flat, but it worked perfectly for our needs. We also had our own bathroom that was covered in gorgeous marble tile. And had a bidet--one of those things that we only hear about in the States, ha! Our room also came with a small balcony and a refrigerator, and we had access to free Wi-Fi. The service here was incredible, too. My understanding is that you have to do most of the booking through email, which ended up working fine. All of the front desk people we encountered were super nice and very courteous. When we were there, only one person working there seemed to be proficient in English, which was fine, but just provided me with a nice challenge, seeing I was the only one in our group who could hold a decent conversation in the language. We arrived there before our check-in time, and they allowed us to store our bags in one of the rooms, and also take a few minutes to freshen up before leaving again. Also, a few of us decided to go to the Canary Islands for a few days, but didn't want to schlep all of our bags with us, and they allowed us to keep our bags there for a week, even though they had no room openings for us when we returned. Oh, and nothing was missing. Overall, this was an awesome place to stay. They are EXTREMELY affordable, and they even have a public computer you can use. They're also super close to Sol, which is a pretty central hook-up for the subway and lots of restaurants and shopping.

Yelp
Clean, quiet, wifi worked good. Nothing fancy but inexpensive and things worked. Anna was helpful and her English fair. AC worked good too. Beds were firm enough. Each rental has its own bathroom. We had one double bed and two singles in our bedroom for three. I would stay again. Walking distance to major sites
