Really friendly staff who could not do more to help and very accommodating, letting us leave bags while we did the hike and before we took a late bus. Great upstairs area and kitchen for breakfast. Would definitely visit again! Thank you!

I really recommend this hostel. It’s sociable but also very cozy and chill. The owners definitely looked after me - having been on a plane for 24+ hours arriving at 8am, they were kind to offer my bed early to sleep. Thank you

We tried to stayed with this hostel having booked a private room 3 days before we were supposed to stay with them. They checked our card having taking a deposit before refunding it the same day and then send an email confirming our reservation. ||The day of check-in we were on an 8 hour transfer shuttle from our previous destination where at 6:30pm they charged our card again for the full price of the room. This was a travel card that we DON'T keep money for security reasons and only top up when we need it. No where on their website or reservation does it say they are going to charge the card, let alone before contacting us. After attempting to charge the card and it declining they contacted me saying "Your card was rejected by our system, so it's invalid reservation". I replied to them saying we were 30 minutes away from them and we can pay upon our arrival. Their response 20 minutes later was "Sorry your reservation was cancelled since your card was rejected by our system, and someone else booked" HOW UNHELPFUL.||Having been sat on a bus for 8 hours, 30 minutes from checkin they had cancelled our reservation despite us telling them we were on the way and had given it away to someone else. When we went to speak to them about it, they were unapologetic and unsympathetic to us not having a place to stay on Saturday night not looking to resolve our issue due to their actions. ||Imagine in different circumstances we may have been arriving late via plane and not been able to get in contact with them at all and they'd cancelled our reservation and left us stranded late at night in a foreign city. I would not book with them as at that point what's the point of making a reservation if they don't adhere to it!

This is definitely the hostel to stay at if you’re looking for something more quiet and chill, but still meet people. The staff is wonderful. There’s a basic kitchen on the terrace. The rooms and bathrooms are always clean. There’s 24 hr front desk service. The only thing that turned me off was the hiking of the prices supposedly during the weekend. Initially paid Q90, following day was Q100, and went up to Q123. said they charge more on the weekends. Which is the first hostel I’ve ever stayed at that did this. And they also do not post tax prices online. So my suggestion is to be transparent with prices and allow guests to pay with card online.

Only stayed one night, but they were very helpful when my shuttle bus fell through in the morning. They let me leave my luggage for the day and stay at the hostel until my replacement bus left at 11pm. Kitchen was clean and well stocked enough, and they had a nice chill area.

We were very well taken care of here! They offer private rooms with full bathroom attached. Very cute inside, open air hallway, fresh towels provided daily, complimentary daily cleaning, premises was kept spotless. Cute outdoor upstairs (spiral staircase) with view of the volcano! They had two well behaved small dogs which was amazing to have around as a dog lover (they don't come in the rooms) The rooms are cooled with fans and open windows. The fan broke at one point and the helpful front desk personnel was able to fix it immediately! Felt very safe and secure, front gate with front desk personnel at desk at all times, who were all terrific 👍

Please do not stay here. Read all the reviews. Read how the owner likes to voice his opinion instead of taking accountability. Instead of trying to resolve the problem he likes to be passive aggressive. LOOK AT THE REVIEWS AND HIS RESPONSES. A CHILD. Cameras are necessary but it’s not okay to be creeping on people like they are. They are getting upset about dirty towels, yet the whole place is filthy and they want to up charge for it? Well guess you can use that uncharged fee for the towels.

I don't believe in perfection, thus four stars for everything. I'm 66. My daughter arranged my trip and put me in a hostel b c my credit card points covered it. I have not been in a hostel since freshman yr. of college. Thankfully, there was only one other girl in the room. I've never heard of a private room in a hostel but that is what I got and there were more. I was so amazed/impressed. The 2nd time I went to Antigua I stayed at the "hotel" my daughter stayed at before. I missed my hostel room. It was quiet. The "hotel" had a wrap around veranda, a gorgeous inner garden/courtyard. Understandably peop sat out there, enjoying themselves but it was loud. I knew and decided that if I go back to Antigua I will again stay at the hostel. Every day they asked me if I needed my room cleaned. It was 100% clean; not even dust. Thank you Hostal Antigua for the week in March. I should've booked w you in May, when I went back. O, the hostel was minutes from the main square. Lots of various eateries all around. I really liked it.
