Had a great time at Casa Mazeta. Darren has created a friendly and comfortable hostel that offers clean accommodation at a great price. Our private room with shared bathroom was perfect for a 4 day stay and the shower area was clean and although shared we never had to wait long. We loved the garden area especially after a long day, enjoying a beer and chatting to other guests about their adventures. What makes this place so special is Darren and the high level of customer service he offers. Nothing is too much trouble and he is always on hand to offer advice or help. We did a couple of trips 7 waterfalls/Santa Ana and these were definitively highlights of our time in El Salvador. Douglas our guide on the waterfall hike was knowledgeable about the flora and fauna and made our trip fun. We had a fantastic stay and I highly recommend this hostel if you’re looking for a place with a friendly and social vibe but not too crazy! You must also visit La Rumba which is at the end of the road and is great for a night out and food. The burger was to die for and was so good that we ate their twice!

This place is awesome! We came to spend 2 nights and ended up staying for 4. The dorms are spacious and have security lockers, and they have private rooms too. Awesome garden with hammocks for relaxing. Staff are the best. GREAT kitchen if you want to cook. Stay here!

As a hostel, the experience here was five stars. We especially appreciated the commitment to sustainable living: it's one of the few places in El Salvador that reuses organic waste as compost and recycles other discarded materials. We didn't get to meet the owner, but some of us were fortunate that a volunteer was present when checking in, otherwise communication would have been an issue. Staff is available 24/7, and they keep the door locked for added safety. Keep in mind that this is a hostel: privacy and restroom availability could become an issue when the property fills up.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Casa Mazeta for 4 nights as a base to see Ruta de las Flores. We initially planned two nights but extended to four as this is a very warm and social hostel with great facilities (the kitchen is amazing!). We did the seven waterfalls hike which I would highly recommend. Steve & Darren were fantastic hosts who went out of their way to help us and make us feel at home :) PS. We stayed in the dorm room which was very comfortable and there are big lockers to store your bags.

Was full when I arrived as a walk-in, so they gave us the "emergency beds" in the garage for the price of a hammock. I loved sleeping in that huge garage! Kitchen could be maintained and cleaned better though and currently there is only one bathroom, but I heard they are planning to build more.

Home from home. It's amazing. We had a private ensuite room and originally booked 1 night. Ended up staying 5. We bussed around the Ruta De Las Flores each day and returned at night to cook food and relax. Thoroughly recommend it. The owner and the staff are really helpful and friendly. We will be back.

Fabulous hostal! Clean, fun, spacious, well-equiped kitchen, communal TV area with huge couch and hundreds of DVDs and cable, hammock chill area in the garden. If you are coming to visit the Rutas de Las flores, this is the best place to stay. It is also the cheapest! Sometimes online it looks like they are full, when they are not, so make sure to check anyways!!

We arrived at Juayua and headed straight to Casa Mazeta. We received a warm welcome from Steve (one of the owners) who showed us to the remaining dorm beds. It was comfortable and very clean. Steve explained the various tours you could do and pointed out where everything was; ATM’s, supermarkets, coffee shops, bars and pupulserias. The best being Esmeralda’s. We ate there 3 times. After one night we moved to a private room off the courtyard. It was lush. Casa Mazeta was the only hostel I’ve felt completely comfortable. It really was a home away from home. So much so we changed our stay from two nights to five. On our last night we were lucky enough to experience a light festival and then ended with karaoke with the locals in Bar Rumba. Recommend for anybody heading to Ruta de la Flores.
