Hostal Castilla

Very beautiful place in gorgeous town. Hotel has antique and vintage look - the effect is magnificent (especially the patio is impressive). Also the staff is very helpfull. There is also breakfast included (not a big one, but it is very tasty). However the rooms look very old and in my opinion this is the only disadvantage. All things considered I reccomend this hotel. I think it is an amazing idea to visit Aranjuez for a couple of days and stay at Hostal Castilla.

Cost was a factor but also position and this Hostal is great. I liked the friendly typically Spanish atmosphere and loved the look of the inner courtyard which is a must for sitting out and using the wifi as did not get a good reception on my equipment in the room.||My room was OK - it was twin beds for solo occupation and had everything I wanted - am not particularly fussy so small things that are not up to a 4 star property frankly do not bother me. The towels and bed linen were fine and the hot water was hot and everything worked well. I was only overnighting in the town so decided to rise early as breakfast served at 7am and was very well met with nice coffee and some bread and juice. The park gates open at 8am but the palace opens at 10am so headed to the Principe Park and did a full circuit taking around one hour and a bit - many Spanish locals out taking exercise and clearly it's a popular park. Unfortunately when I finally arrived at the one and only main door to the Palace I was behind two coach loads of visitors and well after 10am the queue had not moved. Having little time and also having walked around all parks I felt that another visit would be good at another time. I left the hostal by 11am and walked down to the covered Market where had another coffee and a pastry before taking a bus number 1 that left outside the market to get me to the train station. The local Cercanias commuter train was excellent and as this was not rush hour it was quite empty. I bought a ticket from the machine for Madrid airport and took the C-3 train as far as Chamartin station then waited 10 minutes for the Airport Cercanias train. In all about a 2 hour journey from leaving the Market building. ||I would certainly stay at this Hostal again and use the bus from the station instead of walking becasue they are efficient and cost little.

What a delight this place is, for those who like me detest characterless chain hotels. It feels like old Spain, with its pretty interior courtyard around which are not only the hostal's rooms but also some small flats where people live. The room was spotlessly clean, the bathroom was large, modern, well appointed and also spotlessly clean; there was airconditioning, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast (included in price) was small but perfectly adequate and, like everything else here, served with charm and a smile. Very delicious coffee. There is no car park (it's an old building), but we parked outside on the street - I was a bit worried, thinking a foreign car with roof box might attract attention but the receptionist said she had never heard of a car being broken in to and indeed the car and its contents were all completely safe. I wholeheartedly recommend this hostal (not really sure what difference is between hostal and hotel - I have stayed in many, many "hotels" far worse than this place!) and hope to return to it again myself. It is only 40 mins from Madrid by train, and would make a perfect base for discovering Madrid and surrounding area.

We stayed here after reading TA reviews. First impressions were very good, friendly receptionist and the interior courtyard is a delight. There was a minor problem with our room and we were given another without any fuss. No parking, as is usual with town centre hotels but we were easily able to find a space in the street just outside. Our dog was made welcome.

Reasonably priced and conveniently located to all the local sights and conveniences. Spent a couple of happy days exploring on foot. The staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent room, warm and cosy, clean and comfortable. WiFi in public areas and in the gorgeous courtyard. Aranjuez is a great place to visit with a lovely atmosphere. Would highly recommend this hostal.

Very traditional Spanish Hostal. Good location, 10 min walk to Palace Gardens etc. Clean comfortable room , decent breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh tostadas and coffee. Staff friendly and helpful, good wifi connection, very pleasant internal courtyard garden. traditonal old-style Spanish experience - definitely stay here rather than a modern soulless chain.

My wife and I stayed at the Castilla for one night only based on TA reviews.. Thank goodness it was only one night!||When we entered the hotel we were greeted by a woman who just stared at us for 30 seconds. Finally I said "Que necesita?" and her answer was "pasaportes." Not particularly friendly. My email (in Spanish) to the hotel requested a "quiet room on an upper floor." This was obviously ignored as we were brought to a room on the lowest floor right in front of the courtyard...not good! We ended up on the second floor in a quiet area after refusing the original room.||The positives..nice courtyard, beer for one euro, and quiet at night.||Negatives-tiny bed for two, small room, unfriendly, and not in a particularly nice part of town. In addition, we were not offered any information and were not given a street map until we requested one. No parking, but we were lucky to find street parking. The breakfast was pathetic....juice, a croissant and coffee. That's all ,folks! No cereal, eggs ,cheese, or anything you would find in a typical Spanish breakfast.||I did not find this place a visitor-friendly hotel. I can't understand what all the fuss is about.||If you want a reasonably sized room, a good breakfast, and some of the amenities one would find in a hotel, go elsewhere.

What a wonderful find... We stayed for a week and by say two they all knew us! The hostel had guest bedrooms and seems to let out apartments to long term locals, ours a lovely atmosphere and everyone was so friendly... The rooms are basic but have everything you need in them and they are very clean. Very easy walk to the palace and centre of town. We would defiantly stay again aranjuez is beautiful
