Hostal El Anon

Gorgeous!! Beautiful spaces in this collection of traditional buildings in the beautiful village of Jimena - we ate on the terrace looking out over the village and it was just gorgeous watching the sun go down with a view over to the Castillo and the balmy night air. The food was delicious - and a great choice! Don't miss the mushrooms, and the duck was delicious too. Really really special!!

We didn't stay here but the restaurant is lovely. Good food served on the terrace or inside. Watch out for a little confusion over gluten free food. They were a bit unclear about whether the menu listed foods containing gluten or foods that were gluten free. However, they were very careful to check with the chef and I was confident that my meals were safe. Beautiful hillside village in stunning scenery. Not very touristy. Friendly locals.

My first impression of this place is that it's a expat British pub. As the business was started but expat Brits, that makes sense. Many of the staff speak English and, as it turned out, three expat Brits bellied up to the bar for their afternoon pints. All of this explains why Jimena real estate postings on the square are in English. The atmosphere is relaxed, the food was tasting, if uninspiringly pub-like.

Hostel Anon is a wonderful place, I would recommend it to anyone planning a visit through Cádiz. The room is charming and had a very comfortable bed, and a rain shower! The resturant has very friendly staff and the food was delicious. Also, I love the lush plants in the center of the hotel. Great place to relax for a few nights. (And there's a rooftop pool)
