Hostal La Isla

Just a Hostel with small rooms (good bed though) But location and especially the service is outstanding! Very friendly staff. You get real coffee con leche and a refill if you like and not the machine stuff they have in 4* hotels. The cafeteria is filled with travelers and locals in the morning making the place an authentic melting point to start your day.

Plus: Lovely modern deco. Great value breakfast. Comfortable beds. Lots of hot water. Less than plus: no hairdryer in the room. Electric timer in public places, does not give you time to open your room door and key in room electrics.

We did not stay at the hostel but were across the road in an Air B&B. The cafe was spotless and being constantly cleaned. The breakfast menu was basic but you can order off the menu. Food was really good. The staff were very accomodating and super friendly and spoke good English. They also have a bar and we stopped there most evenings. Should I go back to Mahon I would definately book Laisla for accomodation.

Hostal La Isla proved to be the perfect place for our first holiday for 3 years. The location was perfect, just 5 minutes walk to the main indoor market in Mahon and the rest of the old town area. The local bus was just around the corner which takes you straight to the bus station. The cleanliness was excellent everywhere. The room was a good size with a lovely bathroom and a fabulous shower. The owner and his son were always helpful if you had any query. The breakfast was always tasty, lovely coffee and Ensaimadas, orange juice, toast etc. which was served at your table and never overcrowded as they started at 6.30am. Overall I would highly recommend this Hostal, which I would say was better than a lot of 4 star hotels. Thank you to Paco for making our holiday so enjoyable and relaxing.

I would have given the maximum score if there was less wrong information given by the hotel on Hotels com. We selected a room of 15 sqm, when we got a very small room of maximum 10 sqm. They mentioned a safe which didn't exist. The breakfast sold at 25 EUR for 2 pax, was sold for 4.5 EUR per pax on site. Beside that, the hotel location is excellent, it has recently been nicely renovated. The room is beautifully decorated, very quiet and clean. The bedding is excellent. The small bathroom is missing ventilation. They have 3 cheap breakfast options varying from 3 to 4.5 EUR.

Very central to historic centre and marina. Decoration looks new and modern. Reasonable sized bedrooms and cleaned daily. Family owned and friendly service. Large breakfast room but no English breakfast or programmes on the TV. Highly recommended hostel/hotel.

Wow what a great find! We landed at the airport late so thought we would spend the first night in Mahon in cheaper accommodation. We had quite low expectations what with it being described as a 1 star hostel on Expedia but oh my what a gem! Check in was quick. The hotel and room was really chic and modern. The room was on the small side but plenty big enough for just the two of us. The bed was really comfy with white crisp sheets. We had a view out to the stress with a window and shutters and the air conditioning was amazing!||The shower and toilet were really modern and the shower was quite large and was great! There was a shower gel dispenser in the shower along with bath and hand towels provided. ||The location of the hostel is perfect as you take a stroll down the road and down the steps take you onto the main Mahon harbour which was bustling on a random Wednesday evening when we arrived. There are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants to chose from. ||There is a cafe linked to the hostel where we grabbed some coffees in the morning before taking a walk up to the centre of Mahon where we caught a bus to Cituadella from the bus station. There are plenty of shops and cafes and interesting buildings and statues on the walk up to the city centre area as well as a Thursday morning market. ||Check out isn’t until 12 noon which is great as we hate having to rush out first thing. ||There are places to park on the side streets. We took a taxi from the airport and it cost around €12. ||We are considering menorca again for next year and would stay here again and for longer next time!

Inexpensive and clean. Had too book 2 rooms because of cancelled flights. The reception was nice and gave us recommendations. The rooms were comfortable and clean. AC and free wifi is available. There is a simple breakfast available in the range of 3-6€.
