The 85 Best Airbnbs and Vacation Rentals in the World, According to Super-Travelers

"“Who can resist spending a few nights in a colorful conch shell-shaped house with stunning views of Lake Titicaca?' says Anna Mazurek, a travel photographer and writer who spent seven months touring South America. Each suite at the eco-friendly Hostal Las Olas has a private bath, kitchenette, hammock, and fireplace; an outdoor hot tub and motorcycle rentals are optional add-ons. For Mazurek, the charm boiled down to the unique seashell-shaped villa and a few surprising neighbors: 'I loved the spiral staircase that led to a second bedroom with a desk facing the lake's blue water. Another highlight was the afternoon that a few alpacas wandered onto our lawn.'" - Ashlea Halpern

This place is so whimsical and unique! It’s a highlight of my South America trip. Every little detail is so well thought out from the stained glass windows, to the walkways, the matching bedsheets, garden in the shower and all the little fixtures. Truly a masterpiece and everyone should experience a relaxing stay at this place just once in their lives. We stayed here two nights and didn’t even explore rest of copa because this place is a little oasis within itself. Do yourself a favour a just book it!

Martin and the crew were so helpful. They let us feed the llamas as well. The room (#11) was beatiful and clean. The shower was hot and amazing! They even have an area where you can relax, use the bathroom, and shower after checking out! I highly recommend Las Olas.

I absolutely loved this hostel. I booked it for my boyfriend’s birthday after seeing the hostel advertised on Instagram - I was instantly sold on the quirky design and free-roaming alpacas. |The hostel lived up to the hype, and we particularly liked the personal experience given to every guest. The owner, Martin, is extremely warm and gave us lots of helpful information about Copacabana, alongside recommendations. The manager, Juan, was helpful in the lead up to our stay answering all my questions by email. The whole Las Olas team work hard to ensure a memorable stay for their guests.|There is an outdoor hot tub available for hire at a small cost, and I’d really recommend doing this at sunset.|I couldn’t recommend this hostel enough, my favourite place I have ever stayed.

If you’d like a new experience, this is the place to stay! |The hotel is located above the city with practically every cottage giving a perfect view of the lake and/or city. |Very short walk just 2 blocks down a steep hill to the central part of town. Or you can take a taxi as it’s only 100 bolivaros ($1 dollar).|Each cottage is made of wood and stone and some boulders. |There’s a small kitchenette too. |Showers are all stone but comfortable. ||Many are duplexes with beds at top and bottom.|Also a cute touch are the llamas walking all over the property. Four of them passed right in front twice while here. You can walk among them.||The fireplace is also fantastic. Real clay and they prepare it for you each day. ||There’s much more to detail but it would take multiple pages to give you the right feel. |I recommend looking at all the photos and read more reviews. ||You probably will meet the owner, Martín. He’s a super friendly guy and willing to help with anything you may need.||The prices are very, very reasonable as are all hotels in Bolivia! ||I’ve traveled to almost 90 countries now and this will be an experience like no other. |Just think of the cartoons from the 70’s called “The Flintstones”. ||Howard S.

My girlfriend and I stayed in suite 5 for 2 nights and were thoroughly impressed. The attention to detail that has gone into the design and creation of the suites is incredible. The views are pretty and Las Olas is a comfortable space to relax in.||Martin, the owner, as well as the staff were so accommodating and attentive. They answered all of our queries, gave great and informative recommendations and were always on hand to help if we needed anything. It’s my favourite place that I’ve stayed in my current three month trip around South America, I would wholeheartedly recommend it and hope to return there in the future!

This place is amazing, couldn't recommend more. Everything was perfect from playing with the Alpacas to using the real stove fire at night to warm the room. Very unique hotel. The owner Martin(I think that was his name) was very helpful with recommendations and allowed my gf to use a spare bedroom to take a job interview. Defo worth a visit.

We were greeted by Martin and Juan who could not have been more helpful. We had booked the wrong room and they very quickly changed things up and we were given a spectacular suite (2). A full view of the bay with llamas munching under the hammocks in front. ||This is such a unique place to stay with each suite feeling like its own adventure. Daily cleaning and towel service. A separate salon to relax in both before and after checkout. ||YOU MUST SEE IT TO BELIEVE IT!! I’ve been to 64 countries and this was one of the most magical places that I’ve ever stayed!!
