Hostal Madrid

I had a wonderful stay at Hostal Madrid and can’t recommend it enough. This was my second time visiting Madrid, and I've stayed at four other hotels/hostels. I would easily stay at Hostal Madrid again. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming, kind, and professional. The receptionist desk was always staffed, which made the property feel very safe and secure—a detail I truly appreciated. The staff (including Melissa, Jihan, and Luis) genuinely went above and beyond to make my stay pleasant, always happy to help with questions or requests and doing so with a positive attitude. Their hospitality really stood out and made a big difference in my overall experience. The room was also clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the location is excellent—central, convenient, and close to everything, while avoiding the noisiness from Puerta del Sol (steps away!). It was really easy to get around and enjoy the city. Hostal Madrid offers great value, outstanding service, and a level of care that you don’t always find. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Madrid.

My family and I have consistently booked with Hostal Madrid over the past 8-10 years and I’ve never been disappointed. The location is CENTRAL and truly unbeatable. It’s the best for exploring the main attractions in the city. The rooms are small but that is to be expected anywhere in Europe. The rooms and bathrooms are always very clean and I’ve always felt warmly received by the staff. The building is safe and you’re given an electronic key to open the hotel’s front door and your personal room. I’ve stayed here solo several times and always felt very safe and secure. If you’re looking for a hotel in Madrid, you have to check this place out!

A nice hotel, located in the city center. We didn't stay for many days. In the room you can hear the noise from the hotel lobby, but it's not that disturbing. We liked the way to enter the room using our personal phone. We liked it.

I absolutely loved this place. Everything about it was perfect for our 4-day stay in early October. Room was quite frankly huge for Europe. Beds were comfortable. AC unit worked great. The room was excellent and even had a sitting chair and a desk. The shower & bathroom were tight but hey, welcome to Europe. Location is so incredibly good. Given how close were were to the Puerta del Sol I would have expected it to be louder. It was up until maybe 11pm every night, but then it got remarkably quiet after that. Noise was a non-factor. Beds were comfortable. Place was clean. The people at the desk were friendly. Cannot ask for more. 10/10 would go back.

Excellent location with great guest services they are were very accommodating they have two buildings with plenty of units we had an issue and they were able to resolve it right away. Great location clean units. Very good customer service. I will definitely come back to this location. It is next two 24 hour stores where you can purchase whatever you need for your stay

Everything about this place is great. 24 hour markets on both sides. A couple minute walk to the trains of Sol and walking distance to some major landmarks. But the best thing is the super friendly and helpful staff. Without hesitation, we would definitely stay here again. From Miami with love

Everything was exactly as we wanted. The hotel had no issues in terms of hygiene, location, or accommodation, and we were very satisfied. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming. We would like to give special thanks to Ms. Melisa for her help. Looking forward to seeing you again next time.

I've stayed here on two different occasions now and both times have been wonderful. The staff is always so friendly and are comfortable speaking English or Spanish or French with you. Be aware the rooms are tiny, but they're really tidy and clean. Plus, for he price and quality, you just can't beat the location! They're perfectly located if you're eager to see the city and explore downtown. It's a 2 minute walk to the Puerta del Sol and a 2 minute minute walk to the Plaza Mayor. You are literally in the middle of everything. It's amazing. Our room was on the street side and was a little noisy at night sometimes, but they have sound/lightproof shutters to close over the balcony door. They have a single parking spot directly in front of the hostal that is reserved just for their customers. It is only for loading and unloading luggage and so cannot be used for long-term parking, but it's very convenient, so keep it in mind if you're renting a car. There are a couple of underground parking garages not too far away where we've always parked our rental car. The hotel does validate your parking ticket when you check-out. I really have had a great experience staying here and would recommend it to anyone who has never been to Madrid or is looking to maximize their exploration.

Simple small rooms, extra clean everyday. Towels and toiletries were brand new every single day. The reception guys are all awesome all the time. Blower and WiFi available. I stayed here because there were no vacancies in my usual Hotel. But I love this place. Now they have small apartments for rent, for slightly more than the small rooms. I need to emphasize that the cleanliness was A+ and the convenience of the cafeteria and tiny mart right next door has no price. Restaurants, stores, taxies, metro just around the corner.

It's highly rated on hostelbookers and I can see why - it's right in the middle of the center, very easy access from the main metro station, Sol. Reception is incredibly nice, friendly, and speak English well. The rooms are kept very clean, although keep in mind this is a hostel, not a hotel, so rooms were smaller. Being in the middle of the center, and in particular, right next to Museo del Jamon which is open late hours, it can get a little noisy. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this as a low budget travel option.

The staff is really friendly. The male staff member upgraded me to a room with a full-sized bed rather than a single which I prepaid for. It was on the ground floor next to the lobby where you check in. As a solo traveller I felt safe as a result. Thank you! The bathroom was clean and the room was simple and sufficient. There were no bugs. At times it can get a little noisy because of the thin wall but I am fine wearing ear plugs to sleep. The location is central to everything; the metro station, 24 hour mart, plaza mayor, etc. I didn't have to walk too much from the main street to get to the hostal so it wasn't hard to find. Other hostals are too far into the small street which can be confusing for people who arrive to madrid the first time. I would definitely stay here again if I ever return to Madrid. Btw all the major attractions are walking distance so you don't even need a metro card or taxi!

Im a fan! What a hostal should be - simple, clean, cheap. The hostal is steps fom sol metro, clean lines with hardwood floors, not much in the way of furnishings, a flat screen tv, all for 35 euro per night. The wifi is spotty which is the only issue, but how much time are you spending in the room anyway?
