We stayed at Petero Atamu for a week. We chose the accommodation because it was one of the cheapest on the island. Even though it was still expensive compared to a similar standard elsewhere in Chile. ||The Hostal is about 10mins walk from the town and also the oceanfront, we did not find this to be a problem, in fact it probably made it a quieter option. Many people mention dogs and chickens making noise on the island- this is everywhere, especially the chickens, but this Hostal was generally quiet.||There is a communal kitchen which is adequately equipped and a living room with a TV. Breakfast is included and it was OK but not very healthy unless it was a scrambled eggs day (every other day). Otherwise is was coffee, tea, the usual white bread rolls, radioactive juice, jam, plastic cheese and meat. ||The room was a fair size with a double and single bed. The bathroom was OK, just our shower head wouldn't stay on the wall. Rooms and cleaned daily and the level of cleanliness of generally good but we did find that the floor was quite dirty and sticky. ||I did see 2 cockroaches, but this seems to be common on the island and not necessarily a sign of uncleanliness. ||The staff were nice, one young man spoke good English and was organising bikes for some other guests. We didn't need a lot of help but I am sure that they would assist with anything they could.||There is a free pick and and drop off to the airport, make sure that you email to ask for this when you have booked. ||The staff can be quite noisy in the morning with the radio but they go home in the afternoon and it is more tranquil. There is an elderly couple living on the property, they must be the owners and we didn't really retract with them as it wasn't necessary. ||All in all a good budget option, popular with the younger travellers.
