I'm very pleased to nominate and review this hotel - it really is excellent. Don't be put off by the hostal name - it's a modern clean and simple small hotel - which is as good as many boutique hotels we've stayed in. Fornells is a beautiful traditional fishing village - a bit classier than other resorts in Menorca. On arriving by car, it's best to park on the front in the harbour car park other wise you'll be driving round and round the village like we did looking for it! it's on a pedestrianised street one back from the seafront, but you can request a sea view room like we did.|| The staff are wonderful, really helpful and friendly, a nice contrast to chain hotels where check in can be a formality - here you're treated like an old friend. There seemed to be quite a few Brits staying here when we did. The room was simple, basic and clean and had a beautiful view of the whole village and port. ||There was no mini bar or fridge - which is why it's called a hostal I think.||The pool was lovely and kept well clean. Breakfast was typical for a Spanish hotel, croissants, buns, coffee orange juice etc ( I think you could request eggs. ) There is also a little bakery next door that does lovely little pizzas & empanadas (pies) and a supermarket just down the road.||For €85 a night in June, this hotel was a great find, and good value.||There are so many restaurants in this little village, and all the ones we ate in were excellent - again a bit of a step up from normal tourist restaurants. Es Cranc (just turn left at the hotel and left again ) is the best in town - you'll probably need to book, as it is very busy. Justifiably so, we ate a very memorable meal there - a seafood caldereta (the famous lobster caldereta a little too much for our wallets) - a huge seafood broth with giant prawns, crab claws, clams etc and the most exquisite rice broth we've ever tasted! ||All in all a, few days in Fornells was one of the highlights of our trip and this this hotel has to be the best in town.
