Lovely friendly family-run place to stay. Nothing was too much trouble. |The vibe is simple - but well done. The room was super clean and the en-suite bathroom had a great shower. Nice balcony with drying rack - v handy after a day’s sailing. The pool is very pleasant to laze by.

We stayed at Hostal Port Fornells for six nights whilst on a sailing holiday, and were very disappointed with the accommodation and service. The place has not been updated for at least 40 years. Towels and net curtains are old with yellow stains. There are no amenities in the bedroom: no kettle, dodgy wifi, no shampoo or tissues just an old cracked shower gel dispenser on the wall. There was no hot water for a shower after 6pm. ||The lunch option was either omelette or an indigestible sandwich made with the sort of bread that comes in a plastic packet and needs to be baked. The hotel manager was very friendly at first but was positively surly by the end of the week. He made a snide comment when we asked him for a plate so that we could eat shop-bought sandwiches on our bedroom balcony. After that he barely acknowledged us. ||In the bedroom, the cheap plastic tat which I hesitate to describe as a floral display, I moved out of sight to a shelf only to have it put back each day into its prominent position by the cleaner. She also moved back a footstool each day (which I had moved against the wall as it was a trip hazard). She moved my personal effects from the bathroom into the bedroom and moved my clothes and books around the room. And she used my shoes as a door stop. My husband thought he’d lost his sunglasses only to find she had put them into my glasses case. Despite the moving around of objects, the water tumblers were not washed and the bathroom was not cleaned. ||Don’t ask for an early breakfast if you have an early flight. It’s not going to happen. The breakfast offering is very poor if you don’t want sweet stuff: cheap cereal, stale pain au chocolats, cheap processed meats and cheese, and unripe fruit.||I shall never stay in this hotel ever again.

Peaceful and welcoming. A kind family run place with older rooms (no TV- which I liked but could be an issue for some. Very helpful staff and a lovely pool. Excellent location for Fornells and Cala Tirant with a peaceful sleep guaranteed. I loved it. Breakfast was included in my rate: fruits, toast, local cakes and ensaimadas plus coffee and juice. A gem!

Like many of the guests here we are walking the Cami de Cavalls trail around Menorca and the company we used, booked us 2 nights in this B&B||Daniel on reception was charming and spoke good English, although his tech was a little slow checking us in, we were given our key and had breakfast explained to us. ||The room was adequate and whilst the furnishings are almost a 70’s throwback, the twin beds were very comfy in our ground floor room that also had a balcony and small terrace. ||The air conditioning worked beautifully but as it is right above one bed meant one of us had cold air blown directly on our face all night.. ||We were surprised to have a fridge so that was used to chill our water packs for the mornings for walking .. ||Breakfast.. well, firstly, we were told it was orange juice but we’re still not convinced and so just avoided it on our 2nd morning.. we had coffees that were made on request but again.. not the best I’m afraid.. cold choices were cooked meats like ham and salami and cheese.. three cereals with cold milk, plenty of bread and large toasting machine and the piece de resistance.. tinned fruit with choice of yogurt… together with a selection of pastries.. but for the money.. it was just fine.. ||We even managed a swim in the pool that is weirdly over the not busy single track road.. the pool was cold, but very clean, but NO shade.. ||As for the hotel cleanliness, it was spotless!||Would we come back? Perhaps not out of choice but is somewhere perfectly adequate for what we needed ||Last thing, the bathroom was fine, no bath but nice enough shower

Caught in Thunderstorm and stumbled into Hostal port Fornals. Looked after us fantastically well, very welcoming. Provided drinks and nibbles and then when rain didn’t cease sorted a taxi.

This hotel is absolutely perfect for an out doorsy holiday. It is comfortable and the rooms are spacious and cleaned every day. I would not recommend this for a luxury holiday however for our sailing holiday it is perfect. The staff are wonderful and are extremely friendly and helpful. The pool is amazing and during the day you almost have it to yourself! It is also lovely being able to eat your breakfast in the hot sunshine and surrounded by greenery.

I'm very pleased to nominate and review this hotel - it really is excellent. Don't be put off by the hostal name - it's a modern clean and simple small hotel - which is as good as many boutique hotels we've stayed in. Fornells is a beautiful traditional fishing village - a bit classier than other resorts in Menorca. On arriving by car, it's best to park on the front in the harbour car park other wise you'll be driving round and round the village like we did looking for it! it's on a pedestrianised street one back from the seafront, but you can request a sea view room like we did.|| The staff are wonderful, really helpful and friendly, a nice contrast to chain hotels where check in can be a formality - here you're treated like an old friend. There seemed to be quite a few Brits staying here when we did. The room was simple, basic and clean and had a beautiful view of the whole village and port. ||There was no mini bar or fridge - which is why it's called a hostal I think.||The pool was lovely and kept well clean. Breakfast was typical for a Spanish hotel, croissants, buns, coffee orange juice etc ( I think you could request eggs. ) There is also a little bakery next door that does lovely little pizzas & empanadas (pies) and a supermarket just down the road.||For €85 a night in June, this hotel was a great find, and good value.||There are so many restaurants in this little village, and all the ones we ate in were excellent - again a bit of a step up from normal tourist restaurants. Es Cranc (just turn left at the hotel and left again ) is the best in town - you'll probably need to book, as it is very busy. Justifiably so, we ate a very memorable meal there - a seafood caldereta (the famous lobster caldereta a little too much for our wallets) - a huge seafood broth with giant prawns, crab claws, clams etc and the most exquisite rice broth we've ever tasted! ||All in all a, few days in Fornells was one of the highlights of our trip and this this hotel has to be the best in town.

Our experience at this place was very satisfying. This accommodation is called a Hostel but it felt more like a decent Hotel. One thing that really stood out was the cleaning. Our room always felt deep cleansed when we came back in the afternoons. The entire building smelled fresh and clean all the time. The breakfast is basic but they change the local cakes everyday, so you get to try out something new every morning. We talked to the guy who runs the hotel and we found out that it’s a family business, his sister and mother all work there too. The guy is very kind, he loves his island and we learned a lot about Menorca from him. The entire staff is extremely lovely, we will be back for sure!
