We stayed here for several days whilst hiking in the Picos de Europa around the Fuente De area. The hotel is in the village of Espinama, which is situated in a river valley and with great views of parts of the Picos (actually, of Pena Remona, from which the hotel gets its name). The hotel has a local bar also on the ground floor, and then a separate section with the guest rooms over a couple of floors. Our room had a small but pleasant balcony, and had quite traditional/rustic decor. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean.||The hotel didn't include breakfast in the room rate, but the breakfast is convenient and had a lot of choice (including local artisan cheeses) to prepare for the day's walking. The hotel is about a 5 minute drive to the car park for the Fuente De cable car, from which it's possible to hike directly or take the cable car onto the plateau of the Picos for additional trails. It's worth getting to the cable car early (opens 9am) because the queues just to buy a ticket can be over an hour, with further waiting for the cable car itself (up to 2h if you arrive later in the day). The cable car is outrageously expensive but provides access to some very exciting and challenging hikes, as well as good views. ||The hotel had a restaurant that serves really excellent food, based very much around the local styles of cuisine and made with local ingredients. We really enjoyed it, there are a lot of interesting menu options. There's several other restaurants in the village, but the restaurant in the Hostal Remona was our favourite. ||Parking is not straightforward in Espinama, but usually a space can be found in one of the small free public car parks.
