Situated in a stunning location at Guisando in the Gredos Mountains, a short drive from Arenas de San Pedro. The Hostel-Restaurante Fogon de Gredos offers basic comfort and sustenance. First observations hint that money needs to be spent on the premises. However, cleanliness was paramount. The guest rooms are simple and extremely basic, but then what can you expect for around €30 per night. The en suite bathroom was adequate and clean but I found that I required contortionist training to use the shower. Wifi, very important these days, is free and worked well. There was plenty of parking available close to the Hostel.||The restaurant was impressive with fine views over the surrounding countryside. Food was no more than okay, but having spent all day exploring towns and villages in the Gredos mountains we all seemed to thoroughly enjoy it. I can certainly recommend the house red, can’t remember what it was now, but we found it to be excellent.||A simple but adequate breakfast was served in the cafeteria/bar by the friendly proprietor. He seem to do everything, receptionist, waiter, chef, everything!||We enjoyed our short stay, would we stay again? Possibly not.
