I’m honestly surprised by some of the negative reviews here. Hostel Sardinero is located in one of the most charming and upscale areas of Madrid—on the same street as a 5-star hotel! The neighborhood is peaceful, full of character, and surrounded by great restaurants and boutique shops. It felt like a hidden gem in the heart of the city.
I stayed in a room with a balcony that was full of natural light and beautifully styled. The parquet floor was stunning, and the balcony added a really lovely touch. The room was clean, and the bed came with memory foam pillows which made for a comfortable night’s sleep.
The bathroom was on the small side, but functional and clean—totally fine for a short stay.
A couple of minor downsides: the room had blankets instead of a duvet, and there was no kettle or glasses provided. These are small things that would be easy for the hotel to add, and would make a difference. The coffee machine in the hallway was out of service during my stay, but with so many cafés and bars nearby, it wasn’t a big issue.
I give 3 stars for service because there is no check in after a certain time in the evening.
Overall, I’d happily stay here again. It’s stylish, well-located, and offers great value in a beautiful part of Madrid.
