Where to start? This hostel is perfect! The location is ideal with a very short walk from the boat and lots of nearby shops and restaurants. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you’ll need and is cleaned constantly. The room was spacious, clean and the aircon was really good. All things considered, this place is insane value for money in Costa Rica and the family who run it are super helpful with information on tours etc aswell as being really friendly. I’d 100% stay here again. The Hammock was a nice touch where you can sit and Watch wildlife from!

Very friendly, particularly the owner and staff. Our private room was basic but clean and had a very effective air conditioner. My daughter particularly loved our hammock and the cooked breakfasts, which were consisently excellent. The garden was lovely and the location was very convenient for the restaurants and shops. Cooking facilities were available and fairly basic but sufficient, with plenty of fridge and food storage space. Good value and we would recommend.

Great location, comfortable room and very clean kitchen with all appliances you need! Would definitely recommend to anyone who goes to Tortuguero.

It was fine. But I wouldn't come back here. There is a club that plays really loud music and a rooster that will wake you up at 4 AM. There is a kitchen, but it is shared. A big plus is that everything is at walking distance. (But this isn't a big town so where ever you sleep everything still is at walking distance)

We stayed here 2 nights with my girlfriend, the room were perfectly clean, we were very well welcomed, person at reception was very kind The global ambiance in the group of cabinas is insane. Hamocs, small sofas, lot of vegetation birds They are very well placed too in tortugerro It was great! (PS: I saw other people talking about noise, there is indeed music in early evening, but personally it did not bother us at all , compared to pouring rain on roof in some of other location or howling monkey Host even give earplugs in case of need)

I loved this hostel. It had all the things one needs: fans in the bedroom, clean bathrooms, kitchen with a fridge and all the things you need, tea kettle and mugs in the common area, and beautiful hammocks. The garden had cute crabs and a jungle feel to it. The decorations were very tasteful. I loved the colors! The staff was ready to help.

We had an amazing experience here. My girlfriend and I stayed in the dorm rooms which are exactly what you would expect hostel dorm rooms to be. The staff Carmen and Daniel made our quick trip to Tortuguero exceed expectations. Daniel was a very friendly and fantastic guide for the tours offered by the hostel. Carmen was a sweetheart. Right from check in she gave us amazing recommendations for food all along the River as well she took care of everything to organize the cheapest and most efficient travel to our next destination while we enjoyed the tours. For once I didn’t need to spend a second of my trip worrying about my next steps. Most helpful and friendly staff I’ve had the pleasure of dealing with in a while.

Very (very) basic and small rooms, extremely dirty. Zero to no staff around. The mattresses are paper thin, not as thin as the walls though! The whole place smells like mold and the sheets/mattress/pillows smell like the sweat of the previous 20 visitors. The bathroom is extremely dirty, rusty and old and the overall state of the place is just shocking. To top it all off, there is a club right across the street so you'll listen to music until at least midnight. Unfortunately most pictures (and reviews) you see of this place on Google Maps are linked incorrectly (it's the neighbours place) so make sure you fact check. To specify; You do not check in at the hostel, you check in at where the boat docks, which is their partnering booking office (Tortuguero Adventures) and not the actual hostel. The staff here is friendly and the tours they provide seem to be good. This however does not change a thing about the bad hostel, check the pictures for more details.
