What beautiful place with a great staff. There was always someone on duty to answer any questions we had. The room we rented was a loft and perfect for our needs with a smart TV, AC and a large comfortable bed. Each morning we went for breakfast there that was included and each morning the selection was amazing. There are stairs when entering but even with heavy luggage it was not a problem. The room didn’t have a refrigerator but there is one in the main hall that can be used. There are water stations everywhere available for use. I am happy to have chosen this location and when I am back again will return here again.

The place is just amazing its a very large very old family owned and run mansion( it will make you feel like you are in Europe). The staff was so nice and helpful! They made our stay a pleasure. Lots of spaces to sit and chill in apart from others. It's located right on the main square of the city and had 5 little balconies that look right over the park. The bed was cozy and rooms were very clean. We will definitely tell all our friends to come to this place and will be back next month again.

If you have mobility issues it is not for you. There are a lot of stairs going up. And then you have to go down to get your room. It was very difficult to me because the air downtown was very dirty. I left two days early. The window did not close all the way. So there were mosquitoes inside the room. The bed was very comfortable. The AC was good. It was right on the main plaza in Centro. But if you cannot breathe well it's not the place. There's lots of construction. There's lots of dust. And soot in the air. I will not do it again.

Great value (very good price compared to other hostels in Merida), Great location (you can’t find a better location than this - right on the main plaza!) , Great breakfast (the breakfast was included in my rate, it really amazed me how great it is, best in town, even compared to other restaurants), Great view from the breakfast cafe balcony and amazing terrace! Great shower - enough hot water and nice water pressure. They also gave me a nice tower and soap, and a lock when I check in. I stayed in the dormitory, all the beds are individual (no bunked bed), and they are quite comfortable. My only complaint is that the dormitory is quite crowded, my bed was right next to the door so I don’t have any privacy as everyone walked by can see me and wake me up all the time, and the door can’t really be closed from inside.

Hostel set in historic Building on the square. The staff is very attentive and like a family. Friendly International vibe. Very clean rooms and bathrooms, laundry services available. Incredible breakfast of fruit medley, Cafe, and choice from 5 dishes for entree. delicious menu available at lunch and dinner with seating on Terraces overlooking all the festive activities in the historic Center.

I really wanted to like this place and my husband and I are used to staying in hostels, but this was extremely disappointing. The inside is relatively comfortable, but when we were taken to our private room, it was unbearably hot. There was no ventilation, just a ceiling fan that didn’t do the job. There was nowhere to hang our things and the bed took up almost the entire room. It was not a big bed. We are used to shared bathrooms, but the walk to the shared bathroom was pretty long, and there was a man sitting outside the women’s room, watching something on his phone, and that made me uncomfortable. Inside, the women’s room was filthy. Granted, we checked in at night, and by mid morning the next day, the bathrooms had been cleaned, but I absolutely was not comfortable in that location. We had the breakfast, which was good and checked out the next morning, finding a regular hotel for a couple dollars a night more that had a private bath and a decent air conditioner. I can’t believe the great reviews this place has. I’m sure everybody’s very nice, but they really were deplorable conditions.

When we arrived at this place and got a tour of the hostel, we noticed we had to share one small bathroom with someone who had Covid, which made us feel unsafe. Next to that, the room was very small and was located in some sort of basement of the hotel with a very small window very high up. When we went back to the reception to let the staff know we didn't want to stay there, they made us pay the full amount of cancellation fee. This doesn't seem fair to us since we don't feel save at their hotel. I feel like their overall grade is quite high because they have 1 good room with a balcony, which makes up for the other bad rooms they have available. Don't fall for this trap, don't book at hostel zocalo.

The good: The location is great. There was a beautiful roof to hang out. The staff were friendly and the room was clean. The bad: The room was bad. It’s supposed to have air conditioning but it only had a fan and no windows, so it was super hot and no air. Also there was a glass part of the door which was covered with a way too small cloth, and we had to improvise a cover with a towel.
