The 4 Best Hostels in Florence (Updated 2025)

"I first stayed at Archi Rossi back in 2006, and while the days of a super huge free breakfast are gone, the hostel remains great. The beds are pretty basic (no curtains), but the facilities are incredible: an awesome courtyard, a huge kitchen, and tons of art and murals throughout. The staff are super friendly, it’s close to the train station, and it’s one of the cheapest hostels in the city — a solid pick if you want to party and meet other travelers." - Matthew Kepnes

The 13 Best Hostels in Europe (Updated 2025)

"This hostel has character — you can sign your name or draw on the wall — and I loved the large kitchen (the size of a cafeteria) and the laid-back outdoor garden where you can relax with a bottle of wine; bunks are basic metal frames but the mattresses are decent and there are lockers for your things, plus it’s conveniently located near the train station." - Matthew Kepnes

Very lovely place located just 15 min from the main center of Florence. The rooms were big and the bed comfortable. Very affordable prices and kind workers. Free coffee/tea and juice all day. Big kitchen with cutlery, plates, bowls, etc. No stove, only microwaves, free hot water and toaster. The garden is large and is perfect for sipping coffee in the morning. Very safe for solo female traveler. I recommend booking the female dorm, as I had a very great experience with it. Bring cash to pay for the city task ! :)

This was by far the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at so far. My friend and I had to book two separate rooms because there was only one bed left in each room for the two nights we planned to stay. But when we checked in, the staff kindly offered us a private room in the garden instead, so we could stay together. It was such a thoughtful thing, and we were genuinely surprised and grateful because we really didn't want to be seperated. The rooms were well designed, clean and had everything we needed. The garden was so peaceful to sit and chill while drinking the free coffee & juice they offer. The location is close to the center, train station, and tram station. I recommend this hostel %100 if you're going to Firenze! Thanks for your service and hospitality Archi Rossi.

A lovely hostel. Well-priced, very kind staff, clean rooms, free drinks and cold water. There is a terrace above and a patio below. Everyone we met there was so kind and the location is absolutely perfect. Everything we wanted to do was within a 20 minute walk and it's right by the train station

Excellent hostel for its price, I liked that it was very clean and everything was thought out. Free drinks are also nice. The reception was also very helpful, especially with the socket. Cool terraces and a place to sit both for breakfast and in the evening, and the location is just top, so close to the main railway station and all the necessary facilities. I definitely recommend it! Grazie !

Great hostel! Free luggage storage, clean rooms, quirky vibe, the outdoor terrace/balcony on the first floor is spartan but was lovely and peaceful to sit at for an afternoon rest. The kitchen is huge and well-equipped, one of the best I’ve ever seen at a hostel. The staff are pretty friendly, and the bathrooms are good. It’s also a great location for its proximity to the train station and the tram stop which goes to the bus station :) I loved my stay here!

My first hostel experience as a solo female traveler. This was a great stay! I stayed in a 6-bed female only room and lucked out with very kind and respectful roommates. The hostel is in an excellent location — close to the train station, the central market, and easy walk to other major sites/museums. There is laundry (both washer/dryer) available for a small fee. The common spaces, including the terrace and outdoor patio area were a lovely place to relax.

Good proximity to station and tours. Contrary to their tagline, they don't offer breakfast. And city tax paid in cash all just adds to the cost. Had problems with noisy children in the hallways. Air conditioning didn't work. We got told that they decide for you if you will be hot or cold. I'm a hot sleeper, and it's way too noisy outside to open the window. We had too many hot nights, and came back damp after rain and couldn't dry off either. Absolute joke, and lowered my rating because of this response. I wouldn't say "avoid" but for the price, it should have been better.

The best lodging on our trip to Italy, by far. Very affordable, great location close to train station and attractions, clean rooms and bathroom, great staff, awesome dining area with free coffee and tea, and a lovely little garden sitting area. Wish they had more locations in Italy.
