We were not impressed with this hostel. We probably would have given 3 stars - just okay - but we were aggressively attacked by biting insects overnight and have to knock it down to 1 star based on this. Cleanliness was not great - there was half a bowl of curry sitting uncovered on the kitchen bench when we checked in, and cleanliness elsewhere was just adequate. The key to our room (the private double) didn't work, so we had to leave our valuables in the locker downstairs. The location is good, but do yourself a favour and stay elsewhere if overnighting in Óbidos.

Pros : - Located right next to the entry of the city - Comfortable and cozy space and beds - Functional kitchen with everything you might need - Nice and available host on the phone and in person once a day (self check in) - House is clean, towels are provided, two bathrooms, little terrasse, beds are made everyday Cons: - None, please stay there, it’s incredibly peaceful, you won’t regret it ! Note / general info : - No bar in the hostel, no activities organized, this is a place to relax and feel at home, not a social/pub crawling hostel - Absolutely no problem with hot water as signaled in older comments

I stayed 2 nights with my 16 yo son. The hostel is basic but clean. The owner is very friendly, informative and provides an excellent breakfast. You are allowed to use the kitchen so good if you have special dietary requirements. Fantastic location and views from the back. If you are driving I would advise parking close then walking the cobble street is very steep.

We stayed only one night, but Miguel was the perfect host! It was a pleasure talking with him, he made an excellent breakfast and it felt just like staying in a relative's home. Miguel also went out of his way to help carry a heavy suitcase (which I would make sure my husband doesn't bring again!!) across the cobblestone streets. We had a private room with a shared bath. Interestingly quirky decor and spotlessly clean. |We are looking forward to our next stay in Obidos and will definitely stay at Hostel Argonata again.

My friend and I stayed in a private room so this place felt much more like a nice cozy B&B than a hostel. Our room was nice, the bathroom was clean, and the entire atmosphere of this place just made it feel like we were at home. The owner was so nice and she made an amazing breakfast in the morning. It's a shame we were only there for one night because Hostel Argonauta was a great place to stay and Obidos was an amazing town to visit!

5 stars! We came 3h before the opening (check-in) time but the owner allowed us to check-in anyways and leave our bags in our room. We booked a room for a couple, so a private room with a couples bed and the room was terrific - super clean, nice view, minimalistic furnished and super comfortable. We got a village map from the owner with some hot spots to visit and how to get around. We also got some recommendations for dinner and night drinks. In the morning the breakfast was super tasty and joyful all around the table. Highly recommend!

This is a great place in a perfect place, right by the walls of the castle of Obidos.||The breakfast was delicious. Home made jams and mamalade. A special egg/cheese/tomato/herb dish was delicious. Artwork and eclectic items add to the experience. The host took time to help me. village is also really good. Great unique restaurants and bars. A good place to try the Portuguese drink Ginja, -in local the bars just a two minute walk away.

We stayed in a room with double bed. Shared bathroom. Maria is a great host. All very clean, Art all over the place, lots of books. The other space (dormitory) has bunks and beds and can be divided with a curtain. More the hostel trend. Breakfast is really good with home made jams and scrambled eggs. If its a full house Maria asks you to bring the used dishes to the kitchen and wash them. She hands over the front door key so you can come in when you want as she leaves at around 18:00 hours. Free WiFi. It says free parking but that's not correct as you need to find a paring space around the hostel. Do not leave things in the car as unfortunately Obidos has also been discovered by thieves.
