Two Stars only for the interior and the location. But the system, the organisation and some of the volunteers.... no words for it. They are very inflexible with extends and for them it's all about the money. Prices are changing daily and every tells you something different. You get different beds then booked without excuses. Then you get a bed in the volunteers room, what is not that bad but if you arrive it can be they are sleeping in your bed or they lay there stuff on it. If it comes to misunderstandings the volunteers are friendly but the employees geting unfriendly and impatient. Sorry for that but my honest opinion.

I would definitely not recommend this hostel. The people working there are very rude and condescending. We had to come to the hostel because of a health emergency and even after telling them this they continued to be rude and didn’t believe us that we had to go to the hospital. They even asked us for the name of the hospital in a condescending way. The bedroom was really gross and disgusting. There was a really bad smell in the bathroom. Additionally, the room smelled like someone pissed on the matress. The window and door made very loud noises at the slightest gust of wind. They were clearly out of standard. The bed was damp and dirty as well which felt uncomfortable and like the room hadn’t been cleaned.

Receptionist with long hair was completely unhelpful and rude. Only concerned about money, not at all interested in helping the people. We ended up modifying our reservation to not give them more money. No vibe in the hostel. AC is only on at night. Would not recommend

I stayed in this hostel for four days in four bed dorm with private bath located next to the entrance. The dorm was bright and clean with light floor tiles. It had new very strong and comfortable bunk beds with proffesionaly made and very safe lockers under each bunk bed. The staff was very friendly and allways tried to help. The wi-fi was fast and there were also few regular computers for use by guests. The location is good. The entire place was very clean and felt secure. They offer free Caipirinha at 7:00. This is one of the best hostels I have stayed at.

We stayed with few friends for 4 nights in this hostel. Even if the place is a bit hold, it was clean and cheap. The staff is really lovely and the breakfast included. The location is really close to the beach so its really enjoyable. Quite quiet.

My friend and i stayed at this hostel for 3 nights. We stayed at the room (with 6 beds) that smelled of toilet and there was no air. There was a fan in the room but it did not help much (also it was very noisy). The beds were really old and it was very difficult to pull out the boxes for luggage from under the bed. Seems that the hostel management thought it was more important to purchase a huge LCD TV for the common area rather than decent beds.||The hostel was located near the beach but there are much nicer beaches around Salvador. If i could choose again, i would prefer to stay in old town (in Das Laranjeiras). To use the computer you had to pay. In general the staff was helpful and some of the employees spoke some English, too

This was my first time in Salvador. I went there with my mother. I can assume I had bad feelings about Salvador, thinking it was a Large City, not clean, with violence and poverty all around. What a big illusion!!! Salvador is a very charming city, developed, kind people (sometimes too much kind, beware!). Well, the Barra Hostel is located one block of Barra Beach, which is a beautiful and a touristic place in Salvador. You have a good commerce near it and lots of good restaurants. The hostel itself is quite simple. They offer shared and private rooms. We have taken a private one with bathroom. It was a small room, just enough to sleep. The bathroom small and simple, but clean and Private. The breakfast was rich and very tasteful. Staff is friendly. Installations are quite cosy. The offer touristic facilities such as tours, day packages, etc. We have taken a day taxi tour which was great. Do not hesitate to "explore" the hosts; they are always ready to help. There were people of different countries and staff do speak differente languages. As the music says: "I don't want to stay here! I want to go back to Bahia!"
