Hostel Berchtesgaden

Beds were comfortable. Bathrooms were very clean. The check in process was a little unique, but easy enough. The staff were kind enough to let us check in an hour early. There were plenty of lockers in our room, and they were quite sizeable. Overall it was a perfectly serviceable hostel, it didn't do anything really fantastically but it was great value for money.

You check in at a Burger King next to a noisy highway. The stairs are rickety and the place seems really janky. The rooms are noisy and we did not get the room that we were told we'd get. Kitchen was not labelled and had virtually no cutlery or utensils and only had a microwave and a hot plate to cook. We made our ravioli on the two provided plates in the microwave. No cups, 1 mug, 1 spoon. This hostel is an insult. It preys on scarcity in the area, with the owners knowing full well that there are no other viable options for travellers to the area. Not cheap either.

Best hostel I ever stayed at. The building itself it not great - the rooms and the bathrooms seem old. However, I give 5 stars anyway simply because of the amazing location. The hostel is right next to the train station and the bus station, and the nearby mountains are so beautiful. Also, it seems that the people who stay at a hostel like this are good. In big city hostels, I sometimes have problems with people being loud and disrespectful, but not in Berchtesgaden. The travelers at this hostel are good and I never felt the need to lock my things.

The hostel is right above Burger King and the reception is also in Burger King. Very unique and interesting. The room was clean and comfy. Would recommend travelers who are on a budget and would like to visit Königssee. They also give you a card so you can take public transportation free.

Nice, clean place with comfortable beds. However, checking in or talking to staff is a pain as they are also working the Burger King downstairs, and you'll have to wait till customers have ordered. Promised view of the mountain ended up a view of the highway which was a bit noisy at night. Overall, good place to stay but pricey for what you are getting as it is the only hostel in Berchtesgaden.

Great hostel, very well located and with great facilities. Good: I really liked the location of the hostel, which is right next to the bus station and also has perfect connections to both Königssee and Kehlsteinhaus by bus or walking. The showers were great, with lots of space to leave your things and a small area for you to change that is inside of the cubicle. The bed was confortable as well and there are lockers inside the room, but no lock. They have a room downstairs where you can leave your luggage, although I don’t think there is a camera or anything controlling it, but still good place to leave your things if you are arriving before you can do your check-in, which starts at 3pm. Also, showing your room key you get a discount in Burger King and they offer you a bus card for 10€ of deposit, that gets you for free to a lot of locations in the area. Once you return it? You get your money back. Not so good: The reception is inside the Burger King’s restaurant and they sometimes take time to come and talk to you. We weren’t informed about the breakfast, so we weren’t sure if there was any. We just decided to go elsewhere to eat (there is a nice cafe close by and also a lidl 4 min walking).

Stayed here for 4 nights as I was keen to do day hikes. Check in was in Burger King counter, the lady spoke no English. She gave me a key and a travel card to travel in Berchtesgaden for free so remember to get this card! Stayed in a 6 bed dorm of which most of the time there’s only me in this room. Bathroom was clean. There’s one sink that had problems which the water didn’t go away. Main issue was the kitchen. It cannot be called a kitchen, things that were functioning were the water kettle and microwave. No stove. No cutlery. Only plastic knives from Burger King (why knives though?) Location is superb. Right below is the main bus and train station which can take you to anywhere around. Tourist information centre is just right across the street. Supermarket is 5 minutes walk away.

Stayed here for a couple nights while visiting Königssee. It's not a hostel in the normal sense, it lacks it's own reception and check-in must be done through a side counter in the Burger King on the ground floor. There are a couple communal areas throughout the hostel, although they seem to not really be used. Oddity aside, the beds were very comfortable and sturdy. No annoying squeaks are room mates moved in their sleep. Facilities were clean enough, although the male bathroom could do with a revamp. Security was good with large lockers available in room. Although around the place there were signs advertising breakfast, these were old and need to be taken down.
