This was a lovely place to spend some relaxing time in a great location. The hostel is designed with care and attention to detail, and is styled with many authentic DDR period style furnishings, it's not tacky, it's very tasteful and we really liked it. ||||The hostel features spacious common areas to sit and relax in and a proper kitchen. Our bedroom (red room) was comfortable and cosy and a good size. The bathrooms were just across the hall and were always extremely clean and the showers very nice.||||The outdoor courtyard is really a nice place to hang out if the weather is warm. ||||The hostel owner Olivia is very welcoming and relaxed and the young man who welcomed us on arrival was also very friendly and helpful.||||I would love to give the hostel 5 stars but it really was very quiet, as a couple we had each others company and we met up with friends too so we didn't really mind, but we hardly met anyone else in our 4 nights stay - if you are by yourself and want to meet folks you might struggle. ||||The other thing, was that it was difficult to sleep with the noise of the trams/road/market place right outside our room. I don't mind the sounds of the city and I use ear plugs anyway but this was seriously loud even for me! Staying in a front bedroom, you get the atmosphere of the local area, but there was definitely a trade off. ||||But overall a great place to stay, we'd definitely stay there again, and I recommend more people should visit Leipzig and stay at Hostel Blauer Stern!
