Hostel Carnevale

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here for three nights in August. At first we were not sure what to expect as we have never stayed in a hostel before! ||From the train station it took us an easy ten minute walk to the hostel which is located in the centre of rijeka town square! ||To get to the hostel we had to climb approx 80 steps as the hostel is on the top floor of the building, there isn't a lift so this may come as a problem for people who struggle with stairs! ||As we entered the owner of the hostel greeted us and showed us the bathrooms, the reception area and our room! He kindly offered us advice on where to go in rijeka and a map to help us find our way around! ||Our room (a private double room) was a little on the small side however it suited us perfectly for three nights! The layout of the room was a little mad with the bed being right in the centre of the room however the room was spotless and had everything we could of asked for in! (Free wifi, air con, comfy bed, wardrobe, desk and lamp).||There are three bathrooms which you share with everyone staying at the hostel! All three showers are quite small however I cannot fault the cleanliness as the bathrooms are cleaned every time someone uses them! ||All of the staff members (the owner, his family and the cleaner) are a lovely bunch of people and will give you advice/ information on anything you may need! ||There were only a few faults however this did not affect our stay here... |-no lift (think of the exercise!)|-outside can be noisy at night due to the fountains and pedestrians (just remember to shut windows!)|-once you have used the bathroom or have locked your room door to go out for the day the cleaner is stood waiting outside to clean which can come across a little invasive at times!||We fully enjoyed our stay at lounge hostel carnevale and recommend it to anyone looking for good value accommodation in rijeka!

Great hostel with even better staff! We had a double room with AC and two windows. Everything was super clean like at home! We've forgotten our passports in the hostel before and they organized the postage of our passports in not more than 24 hours. Absolutely unbelievable. Thanks again! We would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone.

Excellent location. Only 1-minute walk from bus station. Everywhere super clean. Spacious rooms. Best staff, always ready to help, nothing is too much trouble. Really enjoyed my 9-day stay! (Have also been many times before and wouldn't stay anywhere else!)

When we first got to the hostel we tried calling both numbers on the website, but neither of them were in use. Buy luck we got into the hostel because another couple was leaving, but there were still nobody in the reception. Finally the host answered on email that he would be there in 20 min. He got there after more than one hour and he was also drunk. He did not apologies for being late. Further more there were some more problems:|- No air conditioning or Wi-Fi (which there should be according to the web site)|- Only one towel in the room (we asked for one more and the host said we would get one in one hour but we never got one)|- We booked a double bed but the bed we got was two single beds put together with a big gap in between so we had to sleep in different beds.||We were really surprised concidering all the good reviews that this place got, maybe they changed owner recently??

Excellent location, near the main bus station and close to the center.||Mister Miljenko is very nice and always ready to help. Rooms and toilets are very clean and it was really great experience to stay there. I would definetely come back here again.

This is the cleanest hostel I've ever been to! The staff is extremely nice and super helpful, the owner gave us many tips and organised whatever we needed :) Location is perfect and free coffee and croissants for breakfast are a big plus. We came to stay one night and ended up with 4 - I guess that says everything ;)

I had booked this hostel for a week via booking. On arrival the hostel was closed. I used the telephone contact that was advised. But the phone was just hang up. I have contacted booking as well. They tried to contact the hostel also without success. In the end booking advised to cancel the whole week - hence I stranded in Rijeka - it was late night and I had to quickly search for another hotel. ||This behaviour is absolutley ridicolous - this hostel can not be recommended for anybody that wants a save journey.

It's a really great hostel. It has an excellent location right in the middle of the city, a cool design with groovy pictures, a good price and a very very good staff always willing to help. We really enjoyed staying there and it is very recommended.
