Hostel Casa Arbol

Great stay, it’s really peaceful and the domes are comfortable. We were in winter and it wasn’t too cold but there is a heater and blanket if needed. The facilities are only a short walk (just like camping) and each dome has their own allocated toilet and shower. The space is used for events in the daytime - no issue just useful to be aware of. Breakfast is basic (bread & spread) but a nice to have. Fantastic location in the middle of town - very easy to drive and park or walk around.

My boyfriend and I stayed in a private double room and loved the chilled out atmosphere of Casa Arbol. The breakfast is simple and the kitchen could be better equipped but the staff were so friendly and went above and beyond to help us us with any questions or needs we had. They always greeted us with a smile and asked us about our day and we were made to feel welcome as soon as we stepped through the door. The location was great and close to the main square. The wifi worked well and the showers were hot. The hostel itself is small and rustic but we loved the relaxed vibes and, for us, it was a perfect base from which to visit the bodegas and the surroundings. We would definitely stay here again if we are back in town!

From the minute we were led from the garden through to our room, we were relaxed. Cafayate is idyllic and the hostel embodies the calm of the town while providing great facilities. The staff are wonderful and always willing to help. Security was great and there is a well-equipped kitchen for all to use. The setting is intimate and it feels like you've joined a new family for the time. The attached bar was the epicentre of the tourist and local nightlife each night we were there and they make their own pizzas which are miles better than most of the pizza in Argentina. As long as you do not mind the pets (a dog and some cats, but they stay out of the rooms) and are able to deal with the ambient music from the adjoining bar, you will enjoy your time at Casa Arbol.

We were expecting great things from the rave reviews of Casa Árbol. However we were pretty disappointed. The double room was tiny with no space to put anything. The quilt cover was stained and the pillows were very old and uncomfortable. There was also no soap in the bathrooms which was annoying. It was often hard to get in the bathroom when you wanted to as there are only two bathrooms for the whole hostel. One of the two showers was cold the entire time we were there. Also, the patio floods completely when it rains meaning that getting from the bedroom to the bathroom or kitchen, you'll be up to your ankles in water. And there was a leak in one of the rooms meaning water came through the roof and down the walls. Having said that, the staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the hostel is in a good location. The bathrooms were kept clean and lockers in the dorms were provided, so that was good. The hostel needs a revamp and it could be great!

We stayed here for three nights and loved it. The place is really nice, staff is nice and they have nice wine evenings in the garden! And then the practical things: the location is good (1 block from the main square), showers are clean and hot, wifi works really well and the beds (at least ours) were good.

Stayed here one night. Great location. Good dorm rooms with own shared bathroom. Nice helpful staff, clean. Delicious whole grain bread at breakfast but otherwise just the usual. Excellent location, close to centre of town.|

We loved our stay at Casa Arbol, we felt really well welcomed by Mica. The bedroom was comfortable and the shared space was pleasant. Definitely stay here, brilliant value for money! The only negative would be that it was really cold in the morning and at night and a heater in the kitchen area and bedrooms would have made it much cosier.

Really enjoyed my stay in Cafayate which was contributed to by Casa Arbol, a delightful hostel. Great value at $10 per night for the dormitory, lockers in room. Bikes available for 200 pesos per day, excessive because the bikes are in really poor condition (flat tyres, squeaky brakes, gears not working) -- however, I greatfully wasn't charged for the rental. The hostel has an excellent location in the centre of town, quiet quaint streets. However, music can be quite noisy at night and has trouble sleeping first night. Wifi average. Very friendly and helpful staff.
