Well Hostel Celica used to be a military prison, and each cell has been transformed into a small bedroom. Once home to murderers and prisoners, you can now sleep there, but also listen to live music, eat and drink at its café, as well as view artwork from local artists there. Not everyone will have the same experience here ; each room has been designed by a different international artist, and a day here is never the same.

We had a great experience staying in the former prison. Our room had split level beds and bars on the door, and was very comfortable, with a view over Metelkova from the window. The staff were very friendly at check in, and there was a really nice bar, with decent Slovenian craft beer, and delicious pizzas, and an outside terrace with deckchairs and hammocks. Breakfast was ok, not the best selection, but there is a Lidl 5 minutes away with fresh pastries etc, so we went there. The location is ideal, 10 minutes from the bus and train stations, and a 15 minute walk to the Dragon Bridge in central Ljubljana. I also have to say that the shared bathrooms were cleaned frequently and had really hot, powerful showers.

Nice hostel, with a unique style. The ambience was really nice and the breakfast very generous. I think we did not have too much luck with our room, others seem to be more concerned than ours (room 105). I think the only issue were the toilets/showers. I think they could be cleaner- most of the time men toilets were quite dirty

I wish there was a way to leave more than 5 stars. Absolutely perfect. The hostel is big and beautiful. They upgraded me for free, and the room was gorgeous. The bed was comfortable, and the constant reminder to save energy was great. The breakfast was perfect. It was an all you can eat, not something usual for hostels. They allowed me to chill there after checkout till my bus.

This hostel is comfortably close to the train station, and it's just a short walk down to central Ljubljana. I have a bad foot from before I went on vacation and they were happy to accommodate me to a room where I didn't have to climb up to get to my bed. It only goes to show how customer oriented they are. The breakfast is small but lacking a bit. Would be nice to have some juices or more hearty bread but that's nitpicking.

Had a great stay here! The rooms are small, but very comfortable. Importantly, the staff managed to keep the rooms cool, even in the hot summer weather (unlike the other hostel that we stayed in, in Ljubljana city centre) 😬 Hostel Celica was really clean. Great breakfast and location for Ljubljana Old Town. There were only 2 showers, but it was fine! Overall I would definitely recommend and stay again.

Clean, good service, nice vibe, great atmosphere, and have events that provide opportunities to socialise. However, about the sleeping experience: The space between the bed and the pitched roof was very little that I hit it couple of times with my leg when asleep, it woke me up. Getting into bed was not very smooth too

I had a great 2 night stay here. I will give an honest review of different aspects of the hostel. ||Location: Great location. Short 10/15 minute walk in to Ljubljana / the castle. Supermarkets also located near by. |Bus / Train station also only a 5/10 minute walk where you can catch the bus to Bled.||Staff: Staff were very friendly and helpful at check in. Can’t complain. ||Cleanliness: The hostel was very clean and well maintained. No complaints. ||Room: I stayed in a single cell, which I liked as I had been in shared dorms throughout my travels so this was a nice change. Bed very comfortable and sockets/lights at the bed. Very cool room with lots of space. ||Social aspect: I didn’t find there to be much promotion of social activities, which is fine for my but may not be ideal for many solo travellers, possibly it gets busier in the summer and this changes. ||Food: Breakfast was included during my stay. I had some coffee/fruit in the morning. Selection of bread/cheese/ham/cereals also available. ||- there is also a common kitchen area where you can make your own meals, this area is quite small.|- good spacious, and hot showers available.

We loved our stay here. Close to the station, but also walking distance to the city centre. Very walkable city as well. The room was a bit awkward in the layout, but okay. Looked like every room was different so i guess it is just whatever room you get. Good breakfast. Overall, lovely stay here!
