Hostel De Draecke

We booked De Draecke because hotels in Gent seem allergic to allowing more than two adults and a child in a hotel room, meaning parties any larger, or parties of three adults or more would need to get two hotel rooms. The good value four bed room in De Draecke provided a very acceptable alternative. Okay, its a hostel not a hotel so there are things like having to bring your own towels or rent some, you stay in bunk beds rather than normal beds and have to make them yourself, but this is a small sacrifice for a clean, relatively comfortable, excellent value accommodation in the centre of Gent. The communal space which doubles as the dining room in the hostel was nice too, as were the staff. All the processes worked seamlessly and the questions I sent ahead of our stay were answered promptly and in a friendly way. Oh yes, a very delicious breakfast was included too. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Awesome experience. I checked-in in the worst time possible: 24th of December at night. Not only the staff was reassuring in the process, they made the check-in as comfortable and quick as possible. The rooms have a lot of space, the hostel is well-located, they have really nice locker which are free to use, the breakfast is really good, they let you use the common area after check-out and the staff is really friendly.

It's excellently located right at the heart of the old town. Breakfast was better than expected. Rooms are simple but clean. The price is a bit high for a hostel, but it's still a good choice.

We recently visited Ghent and stayed at Hostel De Draecke. We liked the cleanliness of the facility. The staffs at the reception were friendly and happy to help. We saw movies in the movie hall they have at the ground floor. I highly recommend this hostel.

Great stay in heart of Ghent. Perfect. A lot of school children in the hostel mid week who were quite noisy and breakfast was crowded. Didn't spoil things but it would have been good to let other travellers know best times to avoid ! Recommendation - do ask about this on check in!!

Stopped here with our guided beer tasting tour. The service at the bar was stellar - and the open atmosphere of the bar area was ideal for our big energetic group of guests. The beer selection is pretty good - and affordable!

Basic but good quality hostel in the centre of Ghent. Clean room and facilities with a good quality breakfast buffet. Staff friendly and helpful. Price is good value for centre of Ghent. The hostel has a bar but we didn’t use it. Lots of information at reception about things to see and do in Ghent. Overall highly recommend the hostel

One night at this hostel really worth and easy to go exploring the center 🤟🏻 I also got normal breakfast but tasted quite good. It's like half self-service, coz the staff give us sheets to make our own bed, and I rent a towel, cost around 1 euro, but all of that still not a problem 😉
