What a gem! If you are into hostels and the vibe and style that seems to come with most of them then this is a great place to consider. They have different room options available so if you are a couple seeking a little more privacy then you want to stay in the private room with one bed. If you are a solo traveler as I was when I visited, then any of the shared dorm rooms are your options. Remember this is a hostel not a hotel so you will be sharing spaces with other people but most people I meet in hostels are friendly and it’s easy to get comfortable and acquainted with other guests. It’s also a great way to share ideas as most of these people are fellow travelers and adventurers.
As for the place itself, you will find a friendly, welcoming, and comfortable setting with just about anything you would need or use in your own home. Two kitchens, multiple bathrooms with nice showers, cookware, common areas to relax and hang out, and a work station with a computer. Also a large fenced in yard and back patio. Almost forgot about the washer and dryer too!
Hostel Detroit also puts you very close to downtown and all the amenities in the nearby areas. There is so much to see and do within walking distance but you also have the option of renting a bicycle or using the city buses.
Don’t let the stigma and rumors about Detroit keep you from exploring. I walked miles around the place alone and never felt uncomfortable or unsafe. The staff is highly knowledgeable about the area and they are happy to share what they know.
Hostel Detroit is definitely where I will be staying anytime I am in the Detroit area. It honestly feels like I have friends and a place to stay up in the D anytime I want to. And in case you are wondering, there is a dispensary around the corner just a couple minutes walk away. There are better prices out there but hey it’s close.
